"Shut Up and Listen to Me!"

Video of traffic stop and arrest posted below.

A Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper got his job back after he was fired for cursing and tasing a motorist who refused to comply during a traffic stop.

Michael Harbin  is a patrolman at F Troop.  The trooper pulled  over Jessica Waldon for allegedly speeding on I-22 in Lee County on June 8, 2023.  Waldon made it quite clear this was not going to be a quiet encounter as she immediately began mouthing off to the trooper when she rolled down her window.

The motorist denied she was speeding and refused to provide her insurance, telling the trooper he "already had it."   The confrontation escalated from there as Harbin yelled at Waldon, telling her to "shut up and listen" as she argued with him about providing her proof of insurance.  She even "told him not to tell her to shut up."  Harbin immediately told her to "shut up" and said he was writing her up for "speeding, seat belt, and tag cover" before returning to his vehicle (3:00) to write up her citations.

Waldon tried to grab her citations as he read them to her (as required by law).  That was enough for the trooper as he told her if she did not get quiet, she could go to jail. She questioned how he could take her to jail.  The trooper immediately opened her door (8:20) and tried to pull her out of her car.  She resisted and he was unable to pull her out as she yelled "what is your fucking problem."  Harbin immediately (8:33) pulled out his taser and aimed it at the woman a possible tasing did not faze Waldon as she continued to yell at the patrolman.

A fed-up Harbin told Waldon she was under arrest for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest as he tried to pull her out of the car again. However, Waldon continued to resist and keep Harbin from pulling her out of her vehicle.  Harbin had enough.  Visibly angry, the trooper twice tased the woman.  A sobbing Weldon finally got out of her car as Harbin led her to his vehicle (10:40).

Waldon continued to squall as more law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. (16:30).  Waldon ironically wore a shirt that said "Saracasm, It's what I do best."

The motorist was taken into custody but not without further conflict.  The order states:

When Appellant was finally able to get Ms. Waldon onto her feet, he walked her over to his vehicle, handcuffed her, and told her to have a seat in his patrol unit. Appellant told her that "you don't listen unless I raise my voice." Even after being tased TWICE, Ms. Waldon's pattern of argumentative and non-compliant behavior continued. Ms. Waldon responded, "I am not your child' Appellant said, ''I don't give a shit, you don't want to listen to me, it's gonna happen that way, so now you go to jail for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest." Ms. Waldon yelled at Appellant, "I don't give a shit, let's go" and then told Appellant that her car was still running, and Appellant told her, "I don't give a fuck if it's running or not"

Harbin's immediate supervisors determined the trooper needed remedial training and counseled him after reviewing the dashcam video. Harbin said his eyes were "opened" after seeing the video and admitted he could have better handled the traffic stop.

The trooper's superior, Interim F Troop Captain Justin Alsup said Harbin was justified in deploying his taser:

Alsup testified that he did not see a problem with Harbin's use of force. He testified that, for him, Harbin yelling at Ms. Waldon was the issue. He further testified that he "felt like that girl (Waldon) was going to be difficult for anybody that stopped her'' but that he didn't feel like he would have had to tase her had he made the stop. He said he did not feel like the stop should have escalated to what it did that quickly. He added that when Ms. Waldon did not comply with Harbin's order to get out of the car, Harbin was authorized to tase her for that Alsup said that after watching the video, he felt like Harbin needed counseling and training in de-escalation technique because the biggest issue he saw was how quickly the stop escalated. According to Alsup, Northern Region Major Chad Moore instructed him to sign Appellant up to attend training at MLEOTA. Alsup signed Harbin up for the November 14, 2023 training session. Major Moore advised Alsup that November 14ᵗʰ was not soon enough and Alsup was able to reschedule Harbin for a July 18ᵗʰ MLEOTA training session. Alsup testified that once he completed all counseling and the training, he never heard of any other problems with Harbin,

Waldon never contacted MHP to file a complaint even though Master Sergeant Jenkins met her at the jail and told her she had a right to do so.

However, the Fifth Floor in Jackson found out about the incident and had other ideas.  MHP rescinded the administrative discipline and held a disciplinary hearing.  MHP fired Harbin on October 19, 2023.  Deputy Director Malachi Sanders defended the firing as he said Harbin's tasing of Waldon took place because "he escalated the situation and he didn't have the right to arrest her" since he went to his vehicle and wrote the citations.

The Board heard it all and ruled the Mississippi Highway Patrol should not have fired Michael Harbin.  The Board said it was clear the trooper did not want to deploy his taser and only did so after he repeatedly told her to get out of her car and tried to pull her out of the vehicle himself.  Different words or tone might have de-escalated the situation but there "remains the possibility" that such tactics would not have worked on Waldon.  It was clear Waldon was going to be "combative" from the moment she was pulled over regardless who the trooper was.

Presiding Hearing Officer Amanda Smith ordered MHP to reinstate Harbin and awarded him back pay.

MHP may submit a motion to reconsider or appeal to Hinds County Chancery Court.

Another piss-ant who never made the Junior High traveling team.

Remedial training, my ass. If this clown has been to trooper school, he's had all the training this state needs to pay for.

We are not so hard up as to need this guy in uniform.

Just one more example of why we do not need the current MHP administration drawing checks.

On second thought, this may be exactly the kind of behavior they learn at the academy.

Maybe if she had been a cute blonde weighing in at 127.

Huh? MHP admin fired him.

Has anyone ever seen a police officer do this mythical de-escalating? Is that even taught to them? I don’t think the trooper is entirely in the wrong here, the woman getting arrested shared at least half the blame. She would make a fine officer herself with those levels of impatience and meanness.

Anonymous said...

Guarantee he’s another physically abusive Trooper by his actions at 3 mins. No officer, OR MAN, should ever feel the need to lunge at a woman or man. I would bet my life he’s beat the hell out of or choked his spouse. Typical trooper traits lately in Mississippi. Scary

Another instance where, all she had to do was keep her stupid mouth shut, and go to court. Instead she wanted to ride the lightening. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

if law enforcement is writing tickets for a ''covered tag'', they could write up 30% of the motorists in this state.

look around the next time you out driving somewhere. there's a jillion cars out there with some kind of metal or plastic tag ''frame'' around their tag which covers up the county name and the expiration stickers on the tag.

4:56, the mythical de-escalating actually exists and is part of the use of force continuum (or some such name). The continuum is condensed on a a chart, and an officer has discretion to level up/level down - with way too many LEO escalating up, then escalating up again, then into escalating into whatever poor encounter occurs.

Long way to say de-escalating is taught, but likely not adequately trained or emphasized via continuing education. Having said that, some folks just got it coming. . .

Imagine defending this pig of a woman. If she would have complied from the beginning none of that would have happened.

I don't know which was worse to listen to: the tasee's snot symphony, once she started crying and howling, or that awful Crossover Country Oldie playing, early in the video. (I muted the video, and fought oldies with oldies, by listening to the new Menschdefekt/J.Dead remake of 'You Spin Me Round', which makes a dandy earpoison antidote).

When I unmuted, though, there was a not-bad-at-all Girl Group Rap song, and the hot little trooper seemed to be dancing to it, during the tasing sequence. And then the music went back to Crossover Country. He must have a personal device loaded with his fave songs.

At 6:01…I have personally experienced domestic violence from a Trooper who has never once been on steroids, instead simply had good genes. I do not know this Troopers in this video situation. What I do know is domestic violence can be inflicted by those same people who teach these classes and certification’s as TAC officer, SWAT members, and in leadership positions, only to come home and use someone as a punching bag. You can report until your blue in the face…higher agencies that we pay to protect, will turn their head.

My problem isn’t so much what he did as to his demeanor while doing so.

It’s the loss of composure and actions in a way to be physically abuses and intimidating….and remember this guy IS WELL aware this was being recorded…what if it wasn’t?

I’m just about always on the side of law enforcement, but this trooper lost his mind within the first three minutes of this situation. I would understand if he suspected she had a gun, drugs, or serious warrants. However, she was just some average human being on guilty of being ignorant and a little mouthy.

He was likely headed towards a much worse incident than this.

My wife, and I, raised 5 children. I taught them if they ever have an encounter with law enforcement, to never argue with the officer. To never argue, even if you know you are right. You can't win a roadside law case.

I had an encounter with an Alabama trooper about 35 years ago. At that time the speed limit was 55 everywhere. I was traveling a two lane road in some small rolling hills, with two other vehicles about a 1/2 mile in front of me. It was about a two-mile straight section of road, and the speed limit was 55, everywhere.

The radar detector went off when he clocked those in front of me, so I check my speed to make sure I was running 65, or less. When he met me he turned his lights on, and I stopped. When he made the turn around, and had gotten to me, I was standing at the back of the vehicle with my license in my hand. Did you notice I didn't say that radar detector went off when he met me?

He put that Smokey Bear hat on, got out of that car, and came to where I was waiting. I said, can I ask why you are stopping me? He said, you were speeding. I said, how fast was I going? He said 70. I said, no sir, I wasn't doing 70. He said, you weren't? I said, no sir I wasn't. He said, how fast was you going? I said 65. He said, do you know the speed limit is 55? I said, yes, sir. He said, and you are telling me, that you were doing 65? I said, yes, sir, that's because I was doing 65, but I wasn't doing 70.

He looked at me like where did this guy come from. He said wait right here. I don't know where he thought I was going. He went back to his car, and came back in about 10 minutes. He handed me a warning ticket for 65. He said, I'm going to warn you for 65, but if I clock you at 65 again, I will write you for 70. I said, thank you, sir.

As I said that was in 1989. I was a white truck driver from Mississippi. That trooper was a black man from Alabama. We treated each other with respect, and I didn't lie to the man, nor argue. He decided my honesty was worth a brake. Our paths crossed many times after that, but I wasn't running 65 when I met him.

You can train a LEO in de-escalation techniques but it’s also VERY dependent on their character and emotional make up..

Yes there are people not characteristically suited for law enforcement. However, in today's world where people have been allowed to fall on the floor like little children and make you drag them to their rooms, law enforcement on every level is a vey dangerous profession. Even if he's 'roided up, her weight alone could break his leg or worse. NO LEO should have to risk having to become physical. She's probably used that size of hers as a bully most of her life.

Today, children have zero concept of "following directions" from an authority figure because of a generation of idiot parents who were over-permissive with their children. So now, as adults - they have no idea of the need to follow directions without discussion. They're used to cursing their parents and getting what they want. Now they're pretty much the rubbish of society. Her T-shirt pretty much professes her view toward everyone, even LEOs.

The officer could have perhaps done some things differently, but LEOs are those who stand on a wall ready to do violence on our behalf. If you don't even recognize much less respect the importance of their role as peace officers, you deserve an ass whipping on behalf of the community.

I'm old enough to remember a huge debate over whether police -- they were called "police" at the time, not "law enforcement" -- should be permitted to purchase and use tasers. Advocates for the police, lots of big city chiefs as I recall, said they needed this new taser technology and it would only be used instead of deadly force.

True story.

It wasn't long at all, though, before the taser wasn't at all used as the alternative to deadly force and became the "Do it because I said so" toy. As time passes, look for the the taser to become the tool of first resort in any encounter with "law enforcement."

(I watch many videos of "law enforcement," and it does appear that everyone all the time no matter what who is being cuffed is "resisting." Come clean, now, all you enforcers: Everyone is always "resisting," aren't they? "Stop resisting" is the excuse to apply that arm-twisting and pain inflicting, isn't it? We're anonymous here, so you can go ahead and open up.)

At 2:20 he proves he doesn’t have the temperament to be a LEO. He let the situation escalate him. He should have cited her for speeding and no proof of insurance when she refused to provide it and went along his way. I bet he’s been a bully all his life.

Anonymous said...

7:47 summed it up perfectly. In the 90's I was a JPD patrolman that primarily worked the downtown area on the graveyard shift. I was light-weight and didn't have the size to be physical in most cases so de-escalation was a tool that I mastered. I was successful probably 90% of the time and on occasion, even talked fellow officers out of whoopin' ass. I don't regret that tactic because I stayed out of internal affairs and I honestly believe that it honed other skills within me, primarily patience. The times when calls went from potentially violent and heated to calm and resolved made it worth showing up every night.

That was a different time and a different world when law enforcement was still generally respected. Things are completely different now.

De-escalation takes a lot more time than going the physical route. It requires persistent calm while the inner self attempts to push away anger. It's a go-to for most officers that have back-to-back calls for service pending and for many, like this trooper, that cover many square miles alone with no close back up. Depending on the situation, the more relaxed demeanor can set a calmer tone and it can determine how the entire encounter plays out (peacefully 90% of the time) but it can also be taken as weakness when it comes to a suspect that already has a defensive or combative intention already (the other 10%). Public trust was always on my mind and I wonder how often it is these days with some officers.

There is an art to knowing if or when it's time to throw down that only comes with time on the road. Additionally, there has to be a desire to enforce with the public safety mindset, rather than the authoritarian one. I only watched a couple of minutes of this video but both sides of this exchange doomed it to what it was. She was offended as hell that he even stopped her and he amped it up worse by yelling at her the way he did. I sure as hell didn't try to rip a female out of her driver's seat over mouthy behavior and I didn't attempt to arrest one without a female officer present.

I wouldn't do that job today for 10 times my current salary.

I guess my question for Tindall would be, "Are we really this hard up for troopers?"

God help us if this guy and E-31 are riding the same roads.

Kingfish said...

It would have been real easy for him to wind up in front of oncoming traffic the way he handled things. I probably would have given him a suspension instead of termination. She wasn't going to comply with anything he did, period.

@5:27 said it perfectly. Will these people ever learn?

Anonymous said...

I'll bet if you had the ability to analyze her parents and her home life, you would understand why she acted this way.
Her behavior didn't just happen overnight. Her parents no doubt raised her in an environment that promoted this type of behavior. White trash.

P.S. MHP: you ought to consider changing the name of that troop from "F" to something else.

Anonymous said...

I'd hope someone mails her a modified T Shirt that says, switching from "Sarcasm-it's what I do best," to "Sarcasm, it's overrated," or "Taze Me: I Like It." (remember the girl who said that in another KF video? She was annoyed that the cop didn't recognize her from the club she worked).

I'm beginning to think that body weight has an effect on Taser performance, pound for pound, so to speak.

Yeah, brick time would have been more appropriate. She didn't complain and he didn't have many options as she was so out of control.

Cops behavior on stops is so weird now as they as "on camera" and sort of acting. All the more reason for us boys and girls to be on our best behavior, too. A little respect goes a long way.

Several years ago, my car was in the shop. I had a rental with Florida plates on it. I was driving north of tunica with the speed control set on 55 MPH which was the speed limit. A dept. sheriff going the other way turned around and pulled me over saying I was doing 65. The sheriff dept. does not have radar. He simply pulled me over thinking I was from out of state and would simply pay the ticket. When he realized I was from Mississippi, he let me go. Oh yeah, I was pixxed off.

The whole incident is not funny, it really is sad. But.... at @ 9:00 when he tries with all his might and can't budge her, tazes her, and then that rap song kicks in at 9:30 playing from his state issued car, as he is pulling her out, and he kind of jiggles his shoulder and makes a move, and then her crying sort of lays a background vocal for the rhyme - (sort of like the howling vocals in Great Gig in the Sky off of Dark Side) - I completely lost it. Probably will be picked up nationally to make fun of MS, it is that ridiculous. This vid from 9:00 to 10:30 is awful.

Lyrics to that rap song on a blow up poster board should have been State Exhibit 2 in the termination hearing. You should not be permitted to make an arrest video of ANYBODY with that or similar as the background sound track. If there is not a rule against that there should be. And that has got to be his personal play list playing, I don't think they can play that on the public airwaves with all the foul language.

Lyrics - Google "M to the B lyrics".

At the 3:15 moment in the video he nearly had his ass flattened by the 18 wheeler that had not moved over to the left lane which probably could have been a much more lucrative citation to the truck driver that he could have yelled at tased and pulled out of the truck......right?

There’s an old saying that if you look in a mirror and smile the mirror smiles back. I agree the driver was rude and uncooperative but the Trooper was very quick to escalate the encounter. If he doesn’t see that he was to aggressive in his response he will end up in a law suite. Unfortunately the Supreme Court has ruled that it’s OK to tell law enforcement to to F —- yourself

Sad to even have to leave this comment, but it is what it is. If you think you can do better then by all means please go sign up and live the experience that you seem to desire. 95% of you keyboard warriors wouldn’t even make it past the first few minutes of the MLEOTA. Easy to judge in hindsight behind your phone/monitors. While he may have been out of line, I’d say that’s the give that you have to take unless there is a line at the door waiting to backfill his position which isn’t happening. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut and obey the orders given and everything will be hunky dory. They need to enjoy that little piece of dictatorship to keep their levels somewhat normal.

She yelled at him first. Granted, he didn't have to match her attitude, but with the highway noise, it was hard to understand what was being said and that could have led to both of them raising their voices. She also cussed him. At that point, it is clear that she's not going to to respond to polite requests and he's going to have to get down to her level of language to get his point across. I don't like that people have to talk that way, but in today's culture, people think it's ok to cuss someone and not think twice.

He should get bonus back pay for having to listen to the bellowing and wailing she did once she was sitting in the back seat of the car.

And did I hear the county guy say "jacked up on kratom" shortly after 19:00? I am probably the only one commenting that watched the whole video, because I expected to see something much worse leading to him getting fired over this.

Kingfish said...

How can anyone defend him? Well, she refused to comply with anything he said. She berated him from the moment she rolled down her window. She refused to provide what he requested. She refused to get out of her vehicle and kept kicking him as he tried to remove her from the vehicle.

However, he also lost control.

Sometimes both sides bear so blame. The real question is whether any de-escalation techniques would have worked on this woman. She was determined to argue and resist the trooper so probably not.

I can't believe no one has mentioned anything about the deputy director Malachi Sanders saying the trooper didn't have the right to arrest her. That would be devastating to be a rank and file member of MHP and have the deputy director throw you under the bus like that. That has to be demoralizing. Maybe the trooper is frustrated because of the lack of knowledge from his "leaders". The trooper could have legally arrested her at any moment during that incident. Harbin's superiors handled the situation and that should have been the end of it. I'm guessing this is why he got his job back.

12:35 AM, you must have not served in the military or even know anyone who has. One of the first things people who serve our country learns in basic training is to do what they are told because they said so. The military teaches that on the first day.

20+ years ago I was driving on North I-65 headed to Nashville. There was construction going up in the Blount County area of I-65. Construction speed limits at 55 I think vs the normal 65 mph. My radar detector told me he was there but too late. He pulled me for speeding. Impossible to get out of as it would be my word against his.

One thing I noticed though is that he had the wrong date on the ticket. I thought about it and chose to fight it as all he was doing was like shooting fish in a barrel to get his quota quickly and then go screw off somewhere. I printed my clock in times from work that proved I was at work during the date and time written on the ticket. The judge calls up my case and ask how I plead. I said not guilty your honor. The trooper sat there staring at me. The judge asked why he should believe me. I told him he should believe me as the time and date on the ticket corresponded to a time in which I was physically working in a surgical case. The prosecuting attorney then asked if I ever had an occasion to speed on I-65. I said I don’t know but possibly. What I do know is that on the date and time in which this ticket was written, I DID NOT AND COULD NOT HAVE COMMITTED THIS OFFENSE. I was working to help repair a man’s heart. Case dismissed. The trooper stood and as I was exiting, he walked to me with a wry smile and said, “be careful now, ya hear?”

Law Enforcement Officer training 101:

1) We will politely ask you the first time.

2) We will instruct you the second time.

3) We will make you.
This can go easy, or it can go real easy - the choice is yours.

Those of you posting on here that have "issues" with police officers, are the previously mentioned spoiled, throw yourself on the floor idiots screaming "you can't make me!" while their parents caved in to their demands. Now you're an adult - and yes, the authorities WILL make you comply. Angry about that? Blame your idiot parents for not preparing you for how the world actually works.

Well well well, looks like we have another hot head trooper. MHP would appear to have an issue with officers using steroids. It goes hand in hand with the little man syndrome that attracts these types to law enforcement. Yet MHP has the audacity to post about how the citizens should tolerate their unconstitutional “safety checkpoints”. Judging by the ongoing theme of LEOs losing their temper, it’s no wonder why the citizens more and more look at this outfit with skepticism. Looks like we need a good house cleaning in state government.

I am 100% pro law enforcement.....when they deserve it. He made a fool out of himself. As some have noted a taser shuld be used to replace deadly force when possible (someone with a knife, some one charging them, etc). When you tase person sitting in a car that just pissed you off because she was biung an idiot you are wrong. This fat woman posed no threat. I'm not sure what she did other than being a bitch. He hammered her with some tickets so let her go. The Southpark video sums it up. He wa smad because she did not kiss his ring.
My dad is retired MHP 1969-1995. I remember once he took a man by mcdonalds that he had arrested because he knew the jail was not serving food until the next day and the man had told him he had not eaten in a few days. I was at Lowes with him once and a guy stopped us and told my dad he was sorry for the DUI he got a few years earlier and he appriciated him treating him fairly.
You can be a law officer and be a decent person. You can be a law officer and be a hardcore by the book person. You should know the time when to be either one. You should never be an ahole. I would be embarassed for anyone to see this video. That shoud tell him he is wrong.

Fellas, just because a man is in better shape than YOU, does not mean he's "on steroids".

The officer in question, looks about like a reasonably-fit man his age should look. I'd guess that he consumes fewer carbs than do most people, and that he seldom snacks between meals. His flat abdomen tells me that he drinks water, instead of swilling sweetened beverages all day.

And you DO realize that those uniforms are painstakingly-FITTED, don't you?

“However, it shall not be unlawful for the county name to be partially or completely obstructed from view by any object, decal, sticker or license plate bracket or holder.”

Someone please point to the identifiable character or decal which was covered in this situation. The county is not an identifiable character; it simply verifies the authenticity of the tag number which correlates to the county number, if present.

Federal courts have been crystal clear on this issue.

I had a Jackson cop pull me over for having a trailer hitch on my pickup. Said it blocked the tag. When I laughed he said he would ticket me the next time he saw me. Wonder how many pickups with a trailer hitch drives through Jackson?

to 11;55, look at the video mr crystal clear. the tag sticker showing t\expiration date is comleatly covered.

2:24 PM, All a cop has to do to see if the registration is up to date is run the tag number. They have probably already ran the tag number before they stopped a person.

11:26 is probably right about that guy. While it does seem like a lot of them probably use steroids, this trooper doesn’t appear to be very strong as he struggles with an obese female. I wonder what is going on with the childish mood swings. You see that kind of stuff with hormonal imbalance but not mature professionals. I hope for his sake he can get that under control.

As a 10 year LEO, I can say that this Trooper definitely has some anger issues. I've known and worked with several officers like this through the years, and most of them were eventually weeded out or they mellowed out. Write the tickets, throw them in the car if the violator won't take them, and be on your way. If they tear them up or throw them back, oh well. They'll have a warrant issued eventually. Don't take it personally. You can tell the old head Motor Carrier Trooper that showed up didn't seem too thrilled about the whole thing. Probably thinking, "This kid will learn one day."

My 18 year old brother got 6 tickets from this twat from "Accelerating too fast from a stop" he had the exact same aggressive and hostile behavior with him. This guy is known to be a scumbag. He needs jail time. Get him off the force asap!

Just hilarious, u americans "omg don't u dare step on my rights" see a police officer and can't lick their boots fast enough "just comply".
Speeding? deserves a ticket, gets a ticket, from professional officer.
Assaulted, tased two times, retaliation tickets.

The officer was disciplined for? shouting.
Then your thin blue line steps in, charged? no no here have ur job back ur just the kind officer we want.

Such rampant corruption, what do you all do about it? Nothing.

The number of “Just shut up and do what you are told, legal or not” comments on here are disturbing. You guys realize cops don’t just have unlimited authority to do whatever they please, and the public has to put up with it, right? They are cops, not our keepers and owners.

Children are supposed to fear their parents to a certain degree, and citizens should also fear law enforcement officers to a certain degree. The fear is natural and healthy in both circumstances. Without it, you have the breakdown of civil society, and implosion of a nation. That's pretty much where we're at.

To all you "anti-police" types on here, when the purge begins to start, you'll be begging for someone to save you.

Was E31 his training officer?

Anonymous said...

Having worked for years with MHP cadets in training settings, I can say that 22 weeks of indoctrination leaves these troopers all looking and acting the exact way. From the forward tilt of their smokey-bear hat, to their snug-tailored shirt sleeves, to their strut when approaching a vehicle stop.

Trooper School is more like 5 months of "escalation" training, with little else.

All this to be said, this was THE perfect storm of a traffic stop.
An immovable object meeting an unstoppable force. She was bound to act the way she did, and he was obligated to go full "trooper" on her for questioning his authority.

God bless our Redlegs.

Clearly biased, lying “article”. Cops have a duty to uphold the constitution as well as their departments policy. The cops work for the public. They are paid by us. They have guns. They have a higher standard to follow and being a little triggered bitch when he hears that she doesn’t agree with him doesn’t mean he gets to throw a fit.
Also this article is blatantly lying. The video shows her saying multiple times she can’t find it and if he can look up her info.
I don’t get weak mother fuckers who just say comply. So just comply and say goodbye to my fucking rights? It’s one thing to verbally address how you feel that you are being wrongly accused and it’s another thing to comply with a lawful order.
Him demanding her to get out of the car after the stop was over because of what she said, that wasn’t lawful. He is 100% at fault. Sure, maybe you don’t like her attitude or whatever… attitude and speaking out is 1st amendment protection. To all who don’t see fault with this cop, once you read and understand the constitution, take to heart what a fucking right is, you won’t get it. In any case, people who get paid to run around with a gun and can’t control their temper don’t need to have this job, EVER.

Short man syndrome...what a tool

Take the gun and badge off of this jackass and let it be a REAL MAN he tried that with I guarantee you he wouldn’t try that bullshit. PERIOD.

A sad amount of bootlicking in these comments. Was she being difficult? Sure. Did a public servant, whom we trust to carry a gun, come unhinged and lunge at a motorist in an attempt to intimidate her? Absolutely. From the moment he stepped out of his cruiser his only goal was to escalate. Playing keep away with the citations was just his last effort to escalate to an arrest.

Zero professionalism, zero conflict resolution skills, zero people skills. MHP should've never reinstated him. He needs counseling if this mild of an interaction caused him to snap like he did. He has this amount of blatant disregard for professionalism, while knowing he's being recorded; Imagine how he'd act without the cameras.

I'll be writing my congressman requesting that this incident be investigated further, as well as a review of MHPs hiring practices in regards to psychiatric evaluation. If this incident bothers you, I'd implore you to do the same.

Did Michael Harbin write this article himself? Jesus Christ. Nothing she did should have elicited this reaction from a “professional”. This is disgusting behavior toward a citizen, even if she was being difficult.

How dare this woman be rude and non-complianr , that totally justifies breaking your constitutional rights and treating her that way. I mean how dare we expect law enforcement to actually respect the oath they took to defend the constitution. It's their job to he professional even when the people are being rude and non compliant. This is why there is a disconnect between law enforcement and the people , they forget who they work for. Imagine treating your employer like that even if they are rude first. She was wrong but he was absolutely wrong and needs to be fired and stay fired you you can't treat people with respect then get out of public service

Lot of boot lickers in the comments

I have known lots of people in law enforcement, both local LEOs, state and federal. Everyone is entitled to "just having a bad day" and then running into that one person that sets them off. That being said, I feel the state police should should lead by example. Most state police officers I know consider themselves to have been better trained and held to a higher standard. This guy's behavior was nothing short of disgraceful. But I also feel there is a great lack of training on constitutional right and the general perception most officers have of what their jobs truly are. EGO IS NOT YOUR AMIGO... I wish more officers could live by a standard that was set by the greatest officer I have ever known. He told me one time, "My idea of doing a perfect job and having the best shift is when I am able to settle all disputes peacefully and without having to take anyone to jail". But unfortunately, too many larger departments are set up where they only notice officers wanting to move up through the ranks by how many arrests they make, instead of how conflicts were resolved.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
