Gold Coast Commodities issued the following statement in response to the indictment of two company officials.
“Gold Coast takes protecting the environment and surrounding communities very seriously. The charges against Tom Douglas and John Welch arise from a civil dispute with the City of Brandon that was settled and the conduct of a former vendor who has already pled guilty to charges concerning waste handling and disposal.
Since the DOJ informed us of their investigation, we have cooperated fully with the investigators and have taken numerous measures to prevent the recurrence of this sort of conduct by vendors we hire.
Tom Douglas has always strived for the best for his community, his company, his employees, and his family. Those who know Tom Douglas and John Welch, know that the full-scale fight they will mount to defend their reputation, their integrity, and their ethics will be intensive and thorough in pursuit of uncovering the truth.”

Gold Coast contracted disposal services with another vendor that acted in bad faith. DOJ needs to remove their head from their biased ass and go after the real culprit.
If Gold Coast were located out west like Colorado or California they would all be under the jail by now. Enviromental issues just aren’t taken as seriously here as they are out west. Gold Coast is one of the worst offenders we have seen around these parts in some time. What they did in Brandon was horrendous. The board should have never settled that case. They got horrible legal advice. DEQ should have revoked their permit immediately after what Brandon discovered what they were doing then all this other stuff wouldn’t have ever happened.
I hope those 2 cocky SOB's do put up a huge fight. I can't WAIT to be deposed and hopefully testify.
Go ask those people who live out on Lake Road in Pelahatchie what they think about Tom Douglas’s commitment to the environment. Gold Coast created a life-threatening “environment” out in rural Rankin County. This company and its leadership have zero regard for the environment. This press release is Pravda level propaganda.
11:05 obviously thinks all Gold Coast did is what they are charged with now. What they did in Brandon was put directly in the sewer system from the plant. The EPA and DEQ failed to take action. Many are to blame for all this.
Does anyone else hear the sound of tiny violins playing for these fine upstanding gentlemen who face being done unto as a consequence of their allegedly doing to others?
"Gold Coast contracted disposal services with another vendor that acted in bad faith. DOJ needs to remove their head from their biased ass and go after the real culprit."
Thank you for that legal analysis. If your head were not up your ass, it might have occurred to you that the vendor who pled guilty has advised the feds (and has evidence) that Gold Coast officials told him "We don't give a damn what you do with it...That's your problem". An email, letter or witness backing that up could be pretty messy for Gold Coast. Reckon?
Bold Boast put what else where else?
If they can't do the time, they shouldn't have done the crime! Prison seems to be a reasonable outcome to me.
Attn 1:35 When you sell something, you no longer own it. Why should Gold Coast care what happens to something they no longer own, other than the sale of an animal.Lee me guess,”you voted for Joe Biden”.
Was that response written by Chowke's spin doctors?
@3:28 Somewhere a DOJ prosecutor is dreaming of writing a target letter to someone as smart as you either as their target or as counsel for their target.
ATTN 3:28. The feds have been after their slimy, arrogant asses for years. They are going down. Nothing is more handy than hard evidence, and the feds have a boatload of it.
Attn 3:28 - #1, I didn't vote for Joe Biden; #2, I am not 135 from above; #3, I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night --- but regardless of the above disclaimers, I have been involved in a manufacturing process that dealt with products that the disposal of which are highly regulated.
Your legal advice would probably have gotten me thrown into jail, just as might be in the future for these two fine upstanding residents of Brandon that care about their neighbors.
While it is true that if it was "sold" you no longer own it - but that doesn't mean that you are not responsible for its proper disposal when that was the purpose of the sale.
And - the case in Brandon that is referred in this fine press release was a direct action of these two individuals; it is different than the 'vendor' or 'hauler' that brought the product to Jackson; first, straight to the treatment plant and then when stopped to a disposal site that was not permitted for the product.
That fine vendor is probably just like some of your idol's former employees/vendors/attorneys - those that are speaking out on the former president to avoid as much jail time for themselves in the coming days.
Dear PR/Ambulance Chaser Lawyer/Politician Lawyer: Your paid opinion is NOT the truth. Good luck with the PR campaign at a Federal criminal trial and sentencing. Playing games like in ambulance chaser suits will serve your arrogant client very, very poorly. But, hey, arrogance is sort of how it all came to this in the first place, right? SMH.
That Bold Boast response is nothing but an attempt to influence potential jurors. However, intelligent potential jurors are regular readers of this blog and are thus well informed.
Dumping toxic waste into a city sewer is so mafia, are there duck tailed greasers at Gold Coast?
Let me get this straight. If I was to take my old paint and hazardous waste products to the waste disposal facility located at the intersection of Hwy. 80 and Terry Road and the city does not dispose of this waste properly, then it sounds like I may be criminally responsible if the city does not dispose of it properly. Sounds like BS to me.
9:47 - No, what you just posted is in no way similar. When you take your old paint buckets and hazardous waste products to a facility that claims to accept them according to lawful standards...You're not contracting with the recipient to dispose of them in a lawful manner.
Anybody engaged in the production and disposition of hazardous waste who DOES contract for its disposal is a party to malfeasance if they know the contractor is about to break the law.
Tom and his brother (who is not named in the indictment--funny because the pair's 50'(ish) sportfish was titled in brother's name alone....?) have loudly flaunted their outlaw bona fides in this enterprise to anyone who would listen for years--at JYC, the St. Paddy's day parade any number of redneck elite gatherings in Rankin and some folks took notice as well as offense. One in particular, is Rep. Mark Baker, who represented the City of Brandon against these clowns for public nuisance. They mocked his efforts for years, hiring the best of the silk stocking law firms in Jackson to continue to work against not with Brandon and its residents affected by their bs. All the while bragging about being an impenetrable monopoly (because of the rail spur and 'insider connections' with the restaurant industry) and playing both sides of the fence politically (they are both Trumptards, but make millions selling product for biofuels to the Libtards). ANYONE that knows them or has been around them for 5 mins will acknowledge this, and the fact that they don't really 'share the wealth' through patronage dealings with their close friends will probably mean they are on a raft alone in this matter, but for the three 30 year old girls that have posted positive things about them in this thread. Good riddance--hope some 'good guy' buys what their father ran as an honest, respectable business.
10:58. Didn't the brother just plead guilty a few days ago, like right before these indictments?
11:38--apparently, yes--I missed that. I am proud that KF published my comment before Andy Taggart's Lurch-ish minion messages him to take it down:)
Ya'll want some light readings on scofflawism that rivals any criminal in Jackson, read the chronology of lawsuits and EPA sanctions against GCC that have been completely ignored--I think compiled by Emmerich in Northside Sun. Complete redneck scofflaws. Pay attention during pre-sentencing memo phase--Tom will claim he can't be in prison because of health issues. Hope the AUSA screenshots all the party pics off FB before he takes them down. No alcohol in prison probably help his condition, actually.
Hope those attorneys representing these gold chainers on the prepaid plan to prevent unforseen writeoffs.
Actually, I don't really care do you?
Dogs and fleas quotes apply even with a bunch of high paid JDs.
Attorney Andy should go ahead and move into goldcoast headquarters, his schedule is getting ready to pick up more billable hours in the future. Hard to believe attorneys could work much harder for these criminals, but the pile keeps growing.
