JPD issued the following statement.
Jackson Police are investigating a shooting after a male suffered an injury to the leg.
The incident initially occurred in the 100 block of South Alabama
Street as officers were responding to a shots fired call just before 4:00am. When they arrived, officers observed shots being fired from one vehicle at another.
The suspect vehicle, a small silver sedan, immediately fled and
evaded Police. It was later spotted in the West McDowell Road area
before speeding away again. Officers tracked its last direction and
found the suspect vehicle flipped on its top, just
off the roadway at West McDowell Road and South Haven Circle.
No suspect was found at the scene of the wreck and officers are still actively searching the area.
The 42-year-old victim shot on South Alabama Street is currently
being treated at a local hospital for what appears to be a non
life-threatening injury while officers attempt to gather information
about who may have shot him.
