Mississippi Democrats are none too happy that President Trump is visiting Jackson this weekend to speak at the opening of the Civil Rights Museum. This letter calling for a boycott of the ceremonies is one example.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Who gives a $#!# what the Democrats think... Trump was awarded the Ellis Island award in 1986 along with rosa parks and Muhammed Ali for his work with inner city youth. Also, he was recognized by Jessie Jackson for his advanced positions of minorities and the large salary they earned with his company. He is endorsed by many in the King family and the Evers family. Black population loved him until he runs as a republican. Don't forget it was the Democrats that opposed James meredith at Ole Miss. I'm 62 years old and I remember this well. Trump has not made race an issue unlike his opponents and media has. He has never opposed gay marriage either but he gets slammed by that community as well. Although hillary and Obama voted against gay marriage multiple times and voted to build a wall also.
Embarrassing, disrespectful, ridiculously presumptuous, and the opposite of what the Hospitality State is supposed to be.
Once he finds out that the protesters can't be shielded from the view of the camera and that he can't control the crowd, he's going to bail on Philly.
I here Ike is bringing in a 150.
What does Purple Hughes have to say about this?
Yall can't come to this museum! Its ours!
Forget who paid for it.
Bend the knee, Ms. Amos. The leader of the free world is coming to Jackson.
The problem for Trump is that the overwhelming number of tickets distribed went to folks who really don't like him. You can bet he will be heckled if he speaks. Then there is the issue of protesters outside the venue and lining High St. He is going to have a hard time sneaking in and hiding out.
dracarys
“Ain’t none of your kind allowed in here.” You people in Mississippi are really making progress aren’t you?
Trump told the blacks to vote for him becasue they had nothing to lose. He was right.
Don't we have the best museums folks? Am I right?
Shame on Ms Amos. The President of the United States coming to the museum will shed a world wide light on the museum. Otherwise most people even in MS would have never heard of it. Now the entire country will see it. They will also see the ignorance and disrespect of the Democratic Party. What an embarrassment to the state.
Did I read this right? The President is coming (must see this before believing it, but assuming it is true...?) and some priss-ass Democrat is MAD about it? Oh, sister. Go join your weepy hand-wringing group and do whatever it is y'all do when things don't suit you. The rest of us will be honored to welcome him.
May as well fly the state flag on top of the state owned (civil-rights museum) building. I am sure the governor will be proudly wearing his state flag lapel.
.....as you wear your vagina hat, rainbow-T and diaper.
Hillary Clinton called blacks super predators not trump. Oh she also used the rebel flag in the 90s as part of her branding going out promoting her husband. Black unemployment is at a 16 year low as of last month.
He won't make it, the Middle East is about to blow up in his face. 3..2..1 BOOM!
They are in good company, they don't want him in Europe either, and he's afraid to go, because they can't guarantee him that they can control the protesters. He has the same problem in Jackson. Oh and people do have the right to protest.
I guess the Democrats would prefer Democrat George Wallace who believed in segregation and was Democrat presidential candidate in 1968 and 1972. I see the NAACP losing power as an organization and since shifting to the left. I know it must worry black voters in the U.S. that they are a shrinking voting block for the Democrats as many young black males are voting independent or republican. Look at Detroit mayor and also Wayne County Michigan voting precincts that voted trump in fairly large numbers. I grew up in WV and the poor whites use to vote Democrat and now seem to vote republican as a whole. I deity politics aren't working for the Democrats anymore.
I remember back when a handful of folks 'protested' Obama's visit to the Ole Miss campus. Jerry Mitchell, Bill Minor and all the other hand wringing socialists bitched and moaned for months. It was suddenly the height of racism and unsportsman-like conduct that would forever paint our state in a bad light.
But, today, the Clarion carries a full, front-page article glorifying the 'protesting' of a potential presidential visit.
The Democrats would prefer Lavar Ball be a guest speaker and represent the big baller brand than have a successful black speaker such as Herman cain, Ben Carson or even thomas sowell... they are uncle Tom's I guess huh... someone such as Bennie Thompson or racist Jesse jackson. It's no wonder the black family has been destroyed since the welfare state took place. No longer a serious voting block and decreasing daily with immigration. Open borders are also hurting blacks.
Bend the knee? GTFO with that.
Dude works for me — I do not have to bend anything.
BabyChok can kiss the Federal grants goodbye.
The George Wallaces of the Sixties and Seventies are today's Tea Party Republicans, it doesn't take much brains to figure that out.
For those of you calling the President the great racial sage... and that Democrats are overreacting.
“A well-educated black has a tremendous advantage over a well-educated white in terms of the job market, I think sometimes a black may think they don’t have an advantage or this and that. I’ve said on one occasion, even about myself, if I were starting off today, I would love to be a well-educated black, because I believe they do have an actual advantage.”
(Come to Mississippi and see if that holds true)
“They don’t look like Indians to me and they don’t look like Indians to Indians,” — Testifying before Congress
(All Indians are supposed to be super dark and smoke peace pipes?)
Let’s not also forget he just couldn’t BELIEVE a black president wasn’t born in Kenya.
So yeah, black civil rights leaders are a little pissedvoff he’s being asked to open a Civil Rights Museum in what was one of the most racist states in the union.
But, today, the Clarion carries a full, front-page article glorifying the 'protesting' of a potential presidential visit.
Someone actually reads the Clarion?
You know what, I like Trump. There I said it, and fuck you if you don’t like it. Selective media coverage and convenient memory doesn’t make something true. And you’d have to be a total dumbass to think this does anything but
A) put the museum on an international map
B) embolden Trumps base.
The president of the USA coming to your capital city is a good thing. Kiss my ass if you think otherwise.
Of course if he didn’t come they would be screaming the same thing except even louder. The Democrats are irrevelant now. Make America Great Again!
Way to go NAACP! Isn't opposing Trump's visit to the opening of the civil rights museum doing more to create racial hostility than welcoming him? Thanks again for putting Mississippi on the map (again) as an ignorant, racist and divided state. You've just proven that your organization has outlasted its usefulness.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/363394-naacp-trump-should-not-attend-mississippi-civil-rights-museum
Hood's candidacy for Governor will be DOA if the disgruntled disrupt and heckle Trump. But that would be typical for a party that put up a lonely truck driver as their nominee for the same office.
I'm sure BabyChok sees this as a golden opportunity to lecture our President on his *regressive* policies as he welcomes him to the Bold New Radical City. It's the only chance he will have to have Trump as a captive audience for his bullcrap.
Well the Donald loves some KFC. I'm sure there'll be plenty to go around!
@6:23
Your glib to believe they don't want him to come to Europe... the elite E.U. that is imploding daily opposes trump. The European people that get very little say do like him... they want trade with the US at our expense
Only someone with a public school education would be dumb enough to think this is a good idea. You’re taking something good and injecting needless controversy. You can’t burn a cross in your front yard and blame the neighbors because they don’t like what you call a “bright and colorful display of warmth and faith.”
@ 7:29 you are wrong in so many ways! You obviously haven't been outside your room for quite some time have you?
Let me start off by saying I'm an actual African American, a legal immigrant from the continent. I know my genealogy begins in Africa, but I've assimilated into American culture. I've lived the American dream -- I'm a well-educated small business owner, and I'm a socially and fiscally conservative man, but I am also pragmatic in that I understand that absolutist ideologies inherently fail (open a history book). I escaped from a country that endured an ethnic, and ostensibly ideological cleansing, or more accurately, a genocide that the UN has yet to declare as such, and many of my friends were childhood soldiers fighting for a cause they didn't understand and for people who didn't care about their future.
As I began to get interested in becoming involved in my community I went to the NAACP to see what I could do. I have never felt less welcomed by ANY group, and the only thing I had in common with them was the color of my skin. When I began to discuss topics like personal responsibility and the long-term effects of the decay of the family unit I was mocked, called a racist, and an Uncle Tom (I didn't even know what that meant).
That being said, and in the interest of honesty and full candor, I feel as though the NAACP should re-name itself as the NAACCP (National Association for the Advancement of Certain Colored People). If you don't fall in line with their ideology, you're an outcast and self-loathing racist.
@7:44 - "Way to go NAACP! Isn't opposing Trump's visit to the opening of the civil rights museum doing more to create racial hostility than welcoming him? Thanks again for putting Mississippi on the map (again) as an ignorant, racist and divided state. You've just proven that your organization has outlasted its usefulness."
Amen and amen. If they would even welcome him a little bit, it would serve them far better than this hostility, but sigh, they cannot see it. I wonder if this option has even crossed their minds? Probably not, because they don't want to see it. They would rather make noise about something and blame someone rather than make even a small effort toward making it better.
45, he who has been endorsed by the KKK, which does not stand for Kind, Kuddly, Kristians, should have had the good graces to refuse the invitation that the guvnah should never had extended. If 45 has enough sense to recognize that he shouldn't attend the Kennedy Center Honors because his presence would be a distraction, he should have enough sense to realize that his presence at a Civil Rights Museum would be distracting. He has repeatedly refused to condemn acts of violence toward people of color in this country. He has attempted to insult everyone in this country who is not a straight, white, male. He should skip on over to Alabama, campaign for Roy Moore and leave us be. We have enough homegrown racists (hey y'all) without having to deal with the presence of the CIC.
7:06, I didn't post it but I assume the "bend the knee" reference is due to the fact the goofball mentioned said if Trump spoke he was going to kneel in protest.
@ 9:45 Uncle Tom is not really the insult it has come to be. You should read Uncle Tom's Cabin to gain that understanding for yourself.
Why would the NAACP - or any organization - for that matter welcome anyone who doesn't fall in line with their ideology? What organization does? I can't go to a Young Republicans meeting and be mad that their beliefs are polar opposite to mine. I don't go to Wicca meetings expecting to hear the beatitudes. I think most people recognize that no racial/ethic group is a monolith, but organizations are generally composed of like minded individuals.
The Democratic party takes for granted that somehow it has earned the right to speak for Black people and as successors to the civil right's movement. That notion is ridiculous. They take advantage of Black political "leaders" need of the financial support of it's many affiliates and know that very few will speak out against this perversion of "civil rights" as long as they can get rich toeing the party line. Serious but unselfish activists like Malcolm X, Dr. MLK, Carmichael etc. all knew that political parties are like raincoats... you put it on and take it off as you need it. You don't become a slave to an organization bent on maintaining political power, or you'll be used like a disposable towel and discarded after you have cleaned up their mess. It's sickening to see these party wags use the legacy of civil rights icons to advance their party agenda. Sick.
It's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Ignore the civil rights museum and he's a racist who doesn't act presidential, show up and he's desecrating "sacred ground". Let em protest. They didn't pay for the damn thing by themselves. The whole state paid for it and if the governor (also a racist) wants to invite the president of the U.S. so what! They can pound sand! He will still be the president. Sorry.
Perhaps the purpose of this protest by the Democrats is to distract everyone from the Democrats who should be prominently featured in any Civil Rights Museum. Democrats who owned slaves. Democrats who seceded from the union. Democrats who founded the KKK. Democrats who passed Jim Crow. Democrats who advocated for "segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!". Democrats who filibustered against the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.
They wouldn't want anyone paying attention to actual history, would they?
I did not vote for and am not a fan of President Trump but I respect the man and the office that he was elected to. He is the President of the United States and should be respected, welcomed and treated as such. Anytime the President of the United States would take the time to come and be a part of an event anywhere, it is an honor to the event, the location and the state. We are well known and celebrated as the hospitality state and regardless of our personal feelings; the President of the United States should always be shown deference, respect, and our best manners.
One would think Mississippi Democrats would be very happy the President of the United States would honor, respect and visit our new civil rights museum. This ridiculous position the Democrats are taking is why so many people are leaving the party. People are so uninformed and out of touch with reality. How sad.
We live in the age of tantrum politics.
What this jackass doesn't understand is that money doesn't grow on trees. This is an opportunity to highlight a major tourist attraction in our State. It's massive FREE advertising. This leads to revenues. Jackass
@10:31. It’s almost like you’ve never read a history book to know that the Democratic and Republican parties flipped platforms and ideologies. Your argument, such as it is, is completely irrelevant to contemporary politics
7:35... YOU TOLD US TO KISS YOUR ASS... MY QUESTION IS WHICH ACRE??? YOU CLEARLY HAVE A BIG ENOUGH ASS THAT WE MIGHT JUST NEED DIRECTIONS ON WHERE TO KISS IS.
Hillary said her mentor was senator Robert Byrd Democrat from W.V. the long standing and proud KKK leader and he died in office in 2009 she spoke at his funeral and he raised money for her on many occasions. So if anyone supports KKK values its the Democrats and the Clinton crime damily.
Phil... why on earth would you invite POTUS to what could have been a very grand moment for Mississippi. Are you hoping for another Charlottesville?? because that is undoubtedly what this Saturday is heading for. It is not unrealistic to think that the Klan will show up as the Donald is their God. I am hoping against hope that you did not do this as a slap to the African American community but there just seems to be no other explanation. Why aren't you the keynote speaker... you're the Governor. This makes no sense at all and shame on you for creating consternation when, as I said earlier, this should be a grand moment for Mississippi.
11:16. This BS that all of the racist Democrats suddenly became Republicans upon the passage of the Civil Rights Act has really come to prominence in the last 10 years or soAs Democrats attempt to escape their racist past.. Of course, it's all nonsense. Otherwise, all of the southern states would've had Republican governors by 1970. Did they? Of course not. It wasn't until the end of the Reagan era when the old racist Democrats were dying out that their progeny became Republicans.First Republican governor in Mississippi wasn't until 1989. Republicans didn't control the Mississippi legislature until 2011.
Facts are inconvenient things for Democrats.I think it's time you read a history book.
You know 9:49 the President has said time and again he does not support the Klan, its members, or beliefs. Spent most of his adult life, being on the record.
Unlike that two term affirmative action hire, who spent us all into oblivion, like his predecessor. Obama is a GD domestic terrorist loving radical. The SOB exalted Bill Ayers and a hack preacher. Said so in countless interviews and those press releases he calls biographies. All I see there is incompetence and disgrace glossed over by skin color sold as "check another f'ing first box".
Both 9:45 & 10:27 said it well.
Personally I like a man that gets up and tells it like it is. Trump is the first in high office to shove back, and say "No screw you". The first to call it, like most of us have been seeing it. I like that he is an equal opportunity insulter, regardless of party affiliation.
Welcome to Mississippi Mr. President!
I am sure no one has to tell you to dress for duck hunting.
I have been to multiple flag rallies and still have yet to see this mystical "klan" you race baiters speak of. In fact all the "white supremacists" I know are asian NEETs. Oh I'm sure one exists somewhere, but I'm pretty sure they've probably been boycotting Jackson for a while now and I for one will be shocked if they are willing to get out in 30 degree weather to stand in line three hours for the opening of a Civil Rights Museum. One day you'll turn off your television and stop falling for the Democrats scare tactics, and we can finally move forward as a country. It was Obama (whose own BROTHER says he was born in Kenya and campaigned for Trump - a black immigrant btw) who set us back half a century in terms of race relations, not Trump.
Oh, and I love Jackson's Christmas decorations by the way - flashing blue lights in every major parking lot. Classy!
You know who else tells it like it is? Kenneth Stokes. I guess he should run for President and get all those Republican votes, since he seems to fit the criteria or Niknar adulation.
If Trump had given 10 million or so to the civil rights museum and maybe half a mil or so to the Black caucus you think they would be leading a protest? Hell no! They would be kissing his ass to get some more. Jive ass hustlers posing as leaders. That's why young Black people are disillusioned and frustrated.
"Dracarys", KF? Who's the target, Trump or the protesters?
I am amazed at the anti-Hillary details. Granted she was a disaster as a candidate, but why beat a dead horse? Also granted that the primary reason Trump is president is having Hillary as an opponent, it then remains that he would have lost to almost anyone else.
I wish more of KF's readers knew something about Trump's life before he became a TV celebrity. He's been a running joke since the '70s. He was and is an "abominable human being." But this, too, shall pass.
This is all a DAMN shame, and both sides are to blame:
1) A sitting president should be welcomed...but not on a big event day to steal the focus and create a massive traffic jam. Bad political move.
2) Too many people have worked too hard to bring these museums to fruition to have childish people boycott.
Amen, KF at 10:43.
I am curious as to when the civil rights museum will allow the catholics and Jewish populations be represented in the museum as well... seeing how they were equally oppressed and savaged by the KKK like the blacks at the time. Especially in the south. I also find it amusing how it's a tax payer funded facility and the NAACP wants to keep certain people away. That's oppression if I've seen it lately.

5:09,
It seems highly relevant that Obama inherited the worst economic catastrophe since the Great Depression.
But if we’re determined to throw context to the wind, I suppose conservatives need to stop vilifying Great Society liberalism.
"... Trump has not made race an issue unlike his opponents and media has. He has never opposed gay marriage either but he gets slammed by that community as well. Although hillary and Obama voted against gay marriage multiple times and voted to build a wall also." December 5, 2017 at 8:35 PM
Whoa! Just a doggone minute there, Bucko! I'm part of "The Gay Community" (not that there's much of a "community" around here), and I'm VERY pro-Trump. Yes, I realize that we're "supposed to" hate him, just as Jews are "supposed to" hate him, and women are "supposed to" hate him. But it ain't necessarily so.
As with everything else in this state, there's a sharp division in the "Gay Community". Those of us who live in Madison and Brandon (and, from what I've observed, in Belhaven and Eastover) are pretty solidly pro-Trump. Among other things, Trump stands for keeping out of this country, the very sorts of low-IQ creatures who make things difficult for Gay people (and for women, and for Jews).
Yes, the scrawny, substance-abusing, neurotic LOSERS who live in Belhaven HEIGHTS (not really Belhaven: it's on the North side of Fornication), the sketchy western edge of Fondren, and the storage sheds behind their mommas' singlewides in Pearl, are "Rainbow Coalition Democrats".
But we gays on the other side of the divide - the ones with muscles, money, and Mercedes, while not exactly Republicans - are social MODERATES and fiscal CONSERVATIVES. Among other things, WE believe that bakers have the right to refuse to make Gay wedding cakes, if they're crazy enough to turn down paying customers. As for the State Flag, "So? What's wrong with the one we've got? Does anybody actually CARE about that?" On the subject of Confederate monuments, "They cost a lot of money, and they look good. They make nice focal points in urban landscapes. Why throw away expensive accessories? Who cares about the symbolism?"
We don't view Trump as being particularly Conservative. We voted for him, because we view him as CENTRIST - a COMMON-SENSE leader, whose decisions are based upon reality, rather than upon ideology.
As for Hillary, the things we say about her are not fit to print. Our composite view of her, is of a narcissistic sociopath, who wants to confiscate Americans' guns, before throwing open the nation for waves of the very sort of immigrants from whom Americans (particularly Gays, Jews, and women) will NEED to defend ourselves. Hillary wants to do to Americans, what's been done to the peoples of England, Canada, and Australia: disarm the populace, then import criminal aliens, who'll rob, rape, brutalize, and murder us.
In short, we LOVE our Donald.
What he inherited doesn't explain away 8 years of economic malaise. Sorry.
Obama GDP Growth
2009 — <2.8>
2010 — 2.5
2011 — 1.6
2012 — 2.2
2013 — 1.7
2014 — 2.4
2015 — 2.6

I agree completely... foolishly voted for him the first time... remember he had a super majority house and Senate... most presidents never get that. Look, Obama single handedly destroyed the Democrats as a national party... over 1000 elections nation wide lost under his watch. Like Tim Ryan the Democrat from Ohio has sad recently... the Democrats are no longer a national party but rather a bit coastal party. Mid west is gone gone gone...
Are Chinese people represented in this museum or any story of civil rights struggles? You do realize they were not allowed to attend public schools in this state before the early fifties. There was no 'separate but equal' school building for them.
And they pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, conquered the discrimination, built businesses, profited, got their kids all educated and most of them left.
A year from now, nobody will know where this museum is. You people better make hay while the sun shines and milk this visit for all you can shake-down.
Dang right, boys. Mylie Evers, whose husband Medger was slain by a Klansman, ought to be proud to sit next to a president endorsed by the Klan. Leave it to 'ol Phil-Billy to think these things through.
I swear, the Democrats are becoming a predictable one-trick pony party. "Let's all hate Trump, all day, every day. Let's all cut off our noses to spite our faces. They literally drool racism when in reality they are the most racists of all. Saturday could turn into "mooning the whole world" on TV. Great way to show them all how far we've come since the civil rights movement.
BTW, can you parade without a permit in Jackson?
"ought to be proud to sit next to a president endorsed by the Klan. "
Trump is here representing another registered Republican named Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr, who is unable to attend.
I'm guessing she wouldn't be happy sitting next to representatives of registered Democrats such as Ross Barnett, Sr, George Wallace, Bull Conner, or many others the NAACP would like to pretend never existed......
@10:54
I hope your aware that members of the Evers family endorsed trump and other members of the king family did as well... trump has nothing to do with the kkk... it's the Democrats that held the largest fund raiser for WV senator Robert Byrd just 8 years ago with blessing of naacp and Obama Robert Byrd former grand dragon of kkk. Keep talking about what Don lemon tells you.
Kkk California grand Dragon endorsed Hillary Clinton and gave her campaign $20,000.00... his name is Will Quigg... even Washington Post reported this as did MSNBC and other large media outlets. Campaign manager Robbie Mook encouraged her to give it back asap. No report of the returned money. You guys are seriously ridiculous to not point this out even Obama commented on the will quigg donation and endorsement.
Nice to see you back, Burke. You had some of us really worried.
Democrats: Why do you have a problem with President Trump DOING WHAT YOU WANT? (Raising awareness of civil rights, celebrating the opening of a museum dedicated to civil rights, etc.) Based on what I have read, ZERO Democrat leaders plan to attend. Are Chuck and Nancy coming? Hilary? Bernie? Elizabeth Warren? They're welcome to come of course – just like the President and all of the attention he'll bring should be WELCOMED.
Hey, this is a great opportunity to be in the world news and get some publicity for Mississippi. President Trump is currently involved in the 2nd stupidest foreign policy decision made in the last 50 years (announcement on Israeli capitol) so chances are he will be questioned about it while in Jackson Saturday. You can bet he'll probably make some rash statement to inflame half the world. It'll be on the news for the next two weeks! Jackson, Mississippi and it's museum will be the site of the big news story. You can't buy advertising like that! Ride the wave!
It was a great decision to acknowledge Jerusalem!
Here is the chance many Jackson citizens have been waiting on.
They can burn the city down and blame it all on Trump.
One bit of information might help.
Do not expect the neighboring cities to take in the rats that comes running out of Jackson when it burns.
Brilliant move by Trmp... seems people are concerned about Muslims rioting over this like Erogon said they would. I thought Islam was "the religion of peace" I guess that is why I am baffled as to why people are worried over there reaction.
Bennie Thompson and John Lewis have announced they will not attend the opening ceremonies this weekend.
John Lewis not attending is a shame.
Bennie Thompson and John Lewis have announced they will not attend the opening ceremonies this weekend.
No loss. Bennie Thompson is as inconsequential to his district as his decision to not attend is to this event.
So sad. The dedication of this museum was an opportunity for Mississippi to pay respect and honor the African Americans who fought for dignity, fairness and inclusion. Its anticipated opening was already recognized and anticipated internationally. President Trump’s participation was not necessary. I respect the office of President but inviting him was Inconsiderate. This moment of dedication should have been a time of recognition and a first step toward reconciliation and acknowledgement. Instead, it’s being used as fodder for division by mean spirited people. And how ironic it is all being done under a flag donned by the Confederate stars and bars. A better move by the Governor would have been to conduct a ceremony which removed the current state flag and replaced it with a new one during the opening of the museum. Now that would have lent itself to some fine and much needed positive attention for Mississippi.
Well said, 8:19.
Such a shame that John Lewis isn’t coming. He is the real deal. The spirit of this event has completely changed since Monday’s announcement of Trump’s plans to come. I will still attend the opening on Saturday to show my support of the museum and of this important day for our state, but it won’t be the event that was originally planned. While I believe that Trump’s intentions might have been good in deciding to come to Jackson, he has turned it into a circus.
10:46 PM, You are exactly right that after a year nobody will know where this museum is. It’s Jackson, so it will go something like this: Year 1, thousands of public school children will make field trips to the museum; Year 2, somebody will be shot in the parking lot; Year 3, operating hours will be reduced to weekends in the summer; Year 4, a request for emergency operating funds will be made to the state legislature; Year 5, an employee will arrested for embezzlement; Year 6, the roof will begin to leak; Year 7, closed.
8:19 = 9:28
So now that he found out he can't spew his liberal propaganda at President Trump on stage, Lumumba Jr. (BabyChok to some) won't attend. Good riddance to him and Bennie, two childish egotistical morons who can't see past their own ideology for the greater good of being at this historic event.
Wow just when I think we have an event that everyone can be happy and proud of and that something we cant screw up. We manage to. I am so disappointed in our black leaders or lack of leadership. Way to step up and make us all look bad.
What was the purpose of having Trump in Mississippi? The only thing he's ever had to do with civil rights is when the courts told him and his father that it was unlawful to only rent apartments to white people. He definitely wasn't thinking about civil rights then, and he apparently didn't give a crap about black people then. What has he ever done that was inclusive to people of color? Our governor should have been the primary speaker, and Trump should have stayed in Washington and did what he does best, Tweet. Instead of today being a day where Mississippians gathered as one, today was about Trump. Trump just has to be the center of attention at all times. He's such a media whore.
