Selective coverage undermines the public trust. Activist journalism is unprofessional and a breach of ethical standards.

Attacking the person who called it out is a disservice to the profession.

This is what happens when a tabloid publisher builds a media empire, which political interests then clothe with legitimacy because it serves their interests- it drags down the whole profession. Obviously, I'm talking about Rupert Murdoch.

This is why no one should ever get all of their news from one source. It doesn't matter if it's local, regional, or national, always check with sources you don't like and don't trust - as often as the ones you do. Back to Scruggs, his brother in law Trent Lott announced on November 26, 2007 that he would retire from the US Senate - a full five years before his term ran out. Then two days later on November 28, 2007, a WDAM headline reads: Dickie Scruggs, 4 others indicted in plot to bribe judge. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
