Beware the natural disaster contractors. WLBT reported:
For the last few weeks, 3 On Your Side has been digging into how your tax dollars are being spent.
One contract in particular is with a church ministry in Vicksburg. It lists thousands of dollars a week going to several people - including the church’s pastor....
According to the document, Travelers Rest Ministries was given the Grant Management Master Services Agreement for Public Assistance.
Under the contract, an engineer will be paid $9,400 a week plus expenses, which include over $1,900 dollars for lodging. An administrative assistant with Travelers Rest Ministries will be paid $4,000 a week - about $16,000 a month.
And the pastor, as the program manager, will be paid $8,400 dollars a week - over $33,000 a month. Rest of article and video.
Those program manager gigs.......

Drain the swamp we can no longer afford
No, but I was surprised.
They can have fun while it lasts, but there is zero chance FEMA covers that contract
Let me guess ... Shad can't do anything about this.
$33,000 x 12. Think about it all you hard working folk.
Simple math...preacher man got him a fancy set of wheels, with a blue and white pastor tag in his driveway and he's sitting on top of the world.
It's the American way.
Travelers as in gypsies?
Didn’t that raise a red flag with anyone?
Ignorant hayseeds!
These are the types of contractors to which Sister Rukia wishes to steer the water and sewer federal dollars.
Kind of explains one source of Escalade payments.
I'm sorry but no engineer or assistant is worth anywhere near that amount. Of course we all know this is another scam on the taxpayers.
The really sad thing is that FEMA won't reimburse any of that and the city of RF is going to be left holding the bag. But RF isn't known for making wise decisions. Remember all the fees they paid to get municipal bonds issued a few years ago?
Some of Bennie’s buddies for sure. Mo Money, Mo Money!
You know what that means, time for Shad to arrest some old grandma clerk working in some podunk hole in the wall!
Didn't Rollingfork get hosed on a bond deal sometime ago? Trying to be Canton.
What kind of a DR is this Rolling Fork contract manager DR?
Medical doctor? Doctor of Divinity? Certainly it couldn't be ust some random letters could it?
For $33,000 a month that's a question I'd be asking before hiring...
The "minister" laying hands on the money is Doctor General Bryant. Doctorate in Divinity, perhaps self annointed, and he's been feeling divine in Rolling Fork.
Whatta you mean the State Auditor can't do anything about it? Hide and watch. According to the preacher, the contract is between the city and the preacher's fake organization, just created in January.
I'll suggest that the mayor of Rolling Fork is neck deep in this whole fraudulent mess. He went to Vicksburg to meet with the preacher and the mayor, according to the preacher, signed the contract.
The phrase my daddy used often comes to mind: Somebody got their tits in the wringer!
This happens after every natural disaster when there is an influx of federal money. Local officials who steer the contracts award anything and everything to friends and family. And obviously there is a kickback somewhere to be had. Easy money.
If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.
Red Adair
It's so sad that poor uneducated people get so many "advocates" and "representatives" when there is money available to them. When the money dries up these profiteers will disappear. They see these people's dire misfortune as an opportunity to get rich. Unfortunately when our hearts, and dollars, go out to the afflicted communities we sometimes forget that these scoundrels do exist and they will pounce if they see weakness in accounting. Rolling Fork demonstrated too many weaknesses.
The Sista Rukia Cartel be jealous. Is he the pastor for the Church of Grifting?
Operation Pretense 2.0
Karma is on the way for these pond scum thieves.
There’s a special place in hell…
God hates lies, deception and injustice.
Laws people...you have to have laws to make such things difficult.
Your legislature, your governor can make these sorts of things hard.

The rape of Rolling Fork
"The headline for this post seems rather strong but that is indeed what happened in Sharkey County. Rolling Fork was just another small town in Mississippi that made the mistake of running into some bond pimps who promised golden showers but instead gave the town a golden fleece. That mistake cost the town of two thousand people several hundred thousand dollars. That's quite a pretty penny for a city with a budget of less than $2 million. "
If that’s FEMA money it will be up to the State to recover the funds from the local community. But its difficult to understand how the Feds or State would approve the management contract as reported by WLBT.
This is priceless. Rolling Fork Mayor Eldridge Walker is quoted as saying, "I really think that this is a situation that really needs to be looked into by the city administration." Yet it was his office & his city administration that awarded the grifting, do-nothing contract.
This reminds me of the proverbial politician caught in a motel room with a teenage boy, girl, tyranny, whatever. "An investigation will show I was serving my constituents," they claim. Really.
Once the Sun came up the next morning, the entire world was focused on
Rolling Fork.
I said nothing, but I predicted such corruption would be uncovered before the end of 2023.
Mayor Walker is sharp as a marble. Did he get his 10%?
"$33,000 x 12. Think about it all you hard working folk."
Actually, 11:38, it's $35,939 x 12. There are 4.33 weeks in a month. You made a $36,000 mistake.
The preacher will be able to take his entire congregation to see the Rolling Stones in concert- complete with back-stage passes.
I have been away for a while, and oh, my, what do I see?
More need for editing! The correct spelling is “suRPrise,” not “suprise.” You know better, young man!
