Surprise! Another M-Bar Homicide

 SHUT IT DOWN!!!

Yet another homicide took place at the M-Bar last night.  Hinds County Sheriff Lee Vance tweeted:

HCSO investigating fatal shooting at M-Bar Club, 6340 Ridgewood Ct. Black male, 30, fatally wounded following an altercation between several subjects in the parking lot. No suspect information at this time. Anyone w/ information, contact HCSO at 601-352-1521.

M-Bar shooting victim has been identified as Christopher Moncure-30. Investigators are seeking information on a white SUV occupied by at least one shooter last seen in the parking lot of Home Decor store, adjacent to M-Bar. Anyone with information call 601-352-1521.

A shootout took place in the parking lot.  The victim was hiding behind a car for cover.

Another homicide took place at the M-Bar on July 3, 2020.  Three other individuals were shot as well.  Javarius Stewart was arrested and indicted for murder.  Stewart was out on bond for an aggravated assault indictment when the homicide took place.  Earlier post.

A young woman was murdered on I-220 after spending a night at the M-Bar.  An argument broke out in the parking lot of the nightclub on January 23, 202.  Suspect Auguena Funchess  allegedly chased Kiana Singleton out of the parking lot and shot her to death on the interstate.  Funchess was already free on a $50,000 bond after a Hinds County grand jury indicted her for first-degree murder in 2019 yet she was (allegedly) free to kill again. Earlier post.

Kingfish note: This is the third homicide related to this thug bar. Shut.the.motherfucker.down. It's smack dab in the middle of the last decent retail in Jackson.  The Mayor whines to the New York Times about businesses leaving Jackson.  Well, Mr. Mayor, allowing homicidal hot spots such as the M-Bar to remain open is great way to run businesses and your remaining tax base out of Jackson.

Interesting that commentary comes from the county sheriff, not the city police chief.

12:21 HSCO does security at the place.

Anonymous said...

Were they fighting over a parking spot, chicken bone, or a baby mama?

Refresh my memory - why does the Hinds County Sheriff's Department investigate murders at the M-Bar Sports Grill instead of Jackson Police? Maybe the bar sits on the border of the city & county? Sorry I can't recall, I know you've covered this previously.

Kingfish said...

HCSO works security in the parking lot. JPD has a policy of not investigating incidents where such is the case. That is why you see the dispute over homicides last year. JPD wouldn't count the July 3 homicide but the media did.

See Kingfish, 12:24 comment is why I troll you... You don't want this site to be a "bar" but you sure don't moderate it as such. Be better.

Anonymous said...

You're a great American, Kingfish. Thanks for the explanation.

Anonymous said...

Attn 12:33 Are you saying that this murder in Jackson will not be reported as a murder in Jackson?

Kingfish said...

Whatever you say, Melvin.

Anonymous said...

This type of reporting is the very reason I visit this site.

We wouldn't know shit about what's going on in this area if it wasn't for KF. Yes, he censors a lot of my posts, but generally, I know that before I make it.

Can the state intervene in a matter such as this?

Does an off-duty deputy provide security or is an on-duty deputy providing “security” at a well-known public nuisance? If the HCSO is providing security officially, then why are they providing security for this private business and not others where crime is inevitable?

Anonymous said...

I don’t have any idea how this place can get insurance at this point.

Anonymous said...

How can the owner make payroll? Business is dead.

Anonymous said...

Ok you bitch ass nigga, you did this to yourself.

Anonymous said...

Jackson wants to shut down gas station / convenience stores, which actually provide an essential service, because of code violations but won't touch M-Bar where people are shot & killed regularly, almost like clockwork?

Anonymous said...

Remember when the City used to go to chancery court and shut down dangerous clubs? Heck, remember when Melton used to illegally close clubs? Now the City looks away while the County folks collect payment for “security.” Nothing like inter-governmental cooperation.

Kingfish said...

Melvin, are you threatening me?

Anonymous said...

2:12 PM That's a great play on words.
Kingfish, keep the great work up. I visit here 1st before WAPT, WLBT, WJTV & other news sites.
Kingfish is on par with Shad White.

What the latest amount on unsolved murders?

Hea 12:24.

What makes you think JPD has the time to look into all these shootings? Let someone else take up the slack. JPD is too busy fighting crime and running a speed trap on Northside Drive, just west of White Rock Road. Lots of good Clinton Money driving through that 40 MPH Zone.

Anonymous said...

@1:19- with the new premises liability laws, there's really no reason to carry insurance other than fire.

Anonymous said...

KF - why shut it down?

Don't you understand 'herd immunity' - that great concept trollers on JJ last fall were suggesting for COVID. Let enough get sick and die (particularly the older bunch) and we would all be ok, middle age would get sick but be back.

Same theory ought to apply to those than take their life in their hands by going to this joint and I assume spending their money there. If enough get into shootouts, and lose, then maybe the herd of stupid would thin down enough to be manageable. Granted, it might take a little while longer than your fans that wanted the old geezers (over 65, geezers?) out of the way, but applying it to the bunch stupid enough to hang out at M-Bar could be a great improvement over time.

The water returns, and the the lead starts flying.

Who would have thought ?

Burn it down at this point.

Who did what to whom?

HCSO is doing a poor job of security at the club. They should stop.

A Jackson city council member says the city should look into crime at M-Bar - well, no s--- Sherlock

I notice a common thread here is the Hinds County judicial system that releases known and previously captured criminals to prey on the black community. If the victim's black life mattered maybe the media needs to bring national attention to the criminal reign of terror in Jackson and the connected people that sustain it.

Perhaps the place should change their name to (The OK Corral) just so everyone knows what to expect when they drive up. I’m not sure what the fuss is about. People know the place is prone to violence and yet they still drop in (and sometimes drop dead). Because everyone knows that alcohol and firearms are a great mix. I honestly think we need more places like this. A nice little bar where folks can go and shoot the piss out of one another because communicating is just too hard.

Heck you could run a wager tab. Everyone puts in a dollar and whoever survives the night splits the take. This could be just the thing we need to move gun violence from the city to out of town. Now I know that some of you may not think this a good ideal but why the hell not? The fact that the cops are there and this crap is still going down tells me the cops aren’t doing that great of a job stopping the mayhem. And who could blame them, shirts and bulletproof vests are expensive.

" HCSO is doing a poor job "

Yep.

The late Sheriff J.D. McAdory is rolling in his grave.

Never once was he on record as saying his office "smells like Ass"
(as did Victor Mason).

Nor did McAdory erect glossy Valentine's Day signs across Hinds County as did Tyrone Lewis.

Malcolm McMillin was a good Hinds County Sheriff.
But he was too arrogant to accept constructive criticism.

Like any elected office, people have to deal with whom they elect.

Shut it down!

Dang 6:45 sound like shigity I wound say!

If you bet on who would get shot if they entered and/or before they left the M Bar I would suppose the Gaming Commission would have to be in on it. Don’t put that idea out there, that place would be packed and wagers would be off the chart!

I bet $1000, on the man sagging, wearing red boxers will be shot before 2:00am!

It’s comical, but truly sad!

My wife and I had a beautiful place in Bolton, western Hinds county, it was like coming home to a retreat everyday., acreage, ponds, guest house,...saw where things were headed, moved to North MS, have not regretted the move at all

Anonymous said...

What exact legal measure would you use to shut down a private business? Did the owner do something illegal?

Anonymous said...

If I were employed by At Home, Wells Fargo Bank, Zaxby's, The Bulldog, Chick-Fil-A, or any other business within shooting distance of that hood rat hangout, I'd demand my management raise hell with the Mayor's office. How long before one of those f*ckers fires a stray bullet into a passing vehicle and kills a mom or a child?

Anonymous said...

Don't forget that Jackson Public School Officers work the inside of the Bar and Hinds County does the Parking Lot. Both agencies are there just to make a easy $25 to $30 an Hour an do nothing. #Facts

Hell, I have no problem with the M-Bar. I don't go there. I ain't getting close to it (although I am a long time resident of Jackson =I know where I wwnt to go to eat and drink at night, and I don't worry about having to "pack" before I go there. Reasonable places in Jackson are safe and not a problem.)

Let all the idiots that want to go to M-Bar go. Those that leave standing up, surviveed the specisi at least for the night. Might not be so lucky tomorrow, but if they make it more than once, the best of the specis might be winning.

in the meantime, I'll go where there is actually good food (along with good drink, oftentimes) and walk back to my car to head home. Go to the reasonable restaurants, in the reasonable areas, and you will be all right. Go to the rest of Jackson and the Radical New City, compliments of Chowke (sic) Lumumba will give you a one in two chance - depends on who is the quickest draw.

11:22 right on. it’s a free country-if someone wants to risk their life for a bud light, go right ahead

KF,

When you say “surprise,” you’re not really surprised, are you?

Anonymous said...

I knew the guy killed, Chris Moncure. He was a good person and was enjoyable to be around. He had a strong reputation for being personable and not being involved with any bad elements. Truly a sad story for him and his family. Just an innocent bystander.

10:32, the amount of crime, especially murders, meets the common law and statutory definitions of a nuisance. Hall ‘em into chancery court and put on the proof. The DA has special powers overlapping in civil nuisance matters; in the past, the City Attorney’s Office filed in chancery court and even DA RSS would join (never take the lead, mind you). No closed club ever filed an appeal.

The M-Bar is a nuisance, period.

to all you keyboard cowboy JJ wanna be lawyer idiots commenting here.....the quickest way to shut down a bar is to have the ABC revoke their liquor license.
i do realize that's too common sense for most of you to figure out.

The Hinds Co. Sheriff's Department does have jurisdiction over this area, but principally patrols the county areas, leaving JPD, the agency with primary jurisdiction, to police the City of Jackson. Hinds County deputies are allowed to work off duty at this facility by contract pursuant to a MS statute which allows them to do so to earn supplemental income. The entity hiring these deputies must agree to indemnify Hinds County if claims/litigation arise from this off duty work. M-Bar should be required to provide more security or someone will eventually sue them out of existence.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
