Boycott?

One Sheriff called for a boycott of Jackson as a response to Kenneth Stokes's call for Jacksonians to physically attack the police:

Had Stokes been white Donna Ladd would be apopletic already.

Donna Ladd is a FRAUD.

Boycott is a good idea. Done buying anything in Jackson till KIS is gone.

If in fact, Calhoun County did suggest boycotting Jackson, thank you. Though I live far from your jurisdiction, I support you and all law enforcement. Thank you for your service. May God Bless you and yours and keep you safe.

Has the Daily Mail picked up this story, yet? I'd love to see the pictures they run with an article about Kennuf.

As for a boycott... It's not like we're flocking to Jacktown, as it is. Who'd even NOTICE?

Quick-Draw said...

What the sheriff said is that his department will not do business in Jackson. Not exactly 'calling for a boycott'.

Anonymous said...

A boycott would hurt innocent people.

So this sheriff is going to punish businesses that aren't in Stokes district and who can't do anything to get rid of Stokes?
He's going to punish those who live and/or work in Jackson ( including the families of law enforcement)?
If one of his officers needs to be treated at a Jackson hospital because that's where the best specialist for them is located, he doesn't want their families to have a place to stay? His people aren't going to take training in Jackson? His county won't be represented at any meeting at the legislature that affects Sheriff's Departments? If there were a terrorist attack or natural disaster in Jackson, his department won't support first responders?
He's just a pale Stokes!

Isn't this ultimately what people have been doing for years?

Hard to believe it, but Kennuf may have bit off something bigger than he can chew on this one.

Com'on 7:31.... don't nit pic, get the gist of the statement which is 1) to show open disdain for this elected official who acts as an idiot for the media to sensationalize issues rather than using a common sense AND REASONABLE approach for problem solving and 2) showing a solid front of support for law enforcement officers in the State. I hope you realize that Stokes must have cooperation from others throughout the City, County and State to be effective as a politician and not just the bamboozled constituency of his ward that believes in him. I would like to say that I will start supporting this effort of a boycott but truth be told I have avoided Jackson like the plague for the past 5 years in that the moral fiber has degraded so that you cannot be reasonably certain of your safety at any given moment.

National demand to hold conventions in Jackson is off the charts! Kenneth Stokes singlehandedly revives Jackson tourism efforts! JCVB feverishly working to supply 2016 need for souvenir rocks, bricks and bottles!

Those of you bemoaning the collateral damage of a boycott seem to overlook the fact that that's how they work. They are INTENDED to inflict collateral damage. That's the whole purpose. If a boycott of Jackson would work, that might be one thing. It won't though.

Jackson is already boycotted. There are very damned few businesses in Stokes' district that you would frequent anyway. Maybe if the druggies in adjacent counties would stop purchasing from the dealers in Stokes' ward, those dealers would rise up in arms and throw his ass in the Pearl River with a gin-fan tied to his leg.

The man is a Teflon Buddha statue.

There is only one proper response to Stoke's comment: disgust. So go ahead, call out Stokes. Feel free to punish his voters in Ward 3, but those of us in the other six wards have nothing to do with this embarrassment of a councilman. By pushing a boycott for the entire city, you are punishing innocent people (something a good sheriff would avoid). I would boycott Calhoun County, but I don't even know where that place is, nor do I care.

Is there any business left in Jackson? Crime has forced most of them out of the city.

Hahahahaahah

The people of Ward 3 must be brilliant (and clairvoyant) if they can distinguish between petty crimes and felonies before they throw the bricks, rocks, and bottles at law officers. Hmmmm.

This Sheriff is as big an idiot as Stokes. Trying to figure out how in his little mind a boycott of Jackson's businesses eliminates Stokes? Most of Stokes's constituents are not the kind who are hard working business owners...they are the thieves going to surrounding cities to steal and then bring the cops on a chase back into Jackson into their ward. A boycott on Jackson's businesses does nothing to Stokes; rather, it hurts the individuals who work hard on a daily basis at their place of business. On the other hand, Sheriff Tucker and the Richland Chief have made rational responses. While I understand the Calhoun Sheriff's outrage and can appreciate his willingness to make a response to Stokes, he needs to stop and think before he speaks and calls for an action that basically has zero effect on Stokes.

There is nothing that I know of in Jackson that you can't get in the suburbs including excellent health care.

Just to keep it fair: How would Yarbor & Stokes respond if a Madison/Flowood/Richland/Pearl City Official said they wanted their residents to throw rocks, ect at JPD officials in pursuit of a criminal?

Possibly the same way Jackson residents react to people on social media calling for a wall built around the city and for those who leave "to be shot." (Yes, There have been people saying that) I live in Jackson (ward 7) and I highly disapprove of Stokes in general, including his comments (like I assume you did not approve of Daryl Dedmon). Disdain from you guys is something we are used to by this point. Atleast we weren't calling for a boycott of all the suburbs when city leaders in Ridgeland tried to devise ways to rid itself of black people and "Jackson's rot." That's because boycotting innocent businesses in Flowood for what city leaders in Ridgland do makes no more sense than boycotting wards 1-2 and 4-7 for what ward 3's representative did. I understand the anger at Stokes comments. Directing it at me and my community is entirely misplaced.

I do not -in general - like the concept of boycotts. But I realize that they oftentimes do work. Yes, a boycott of Jackson isn't going to hurt very many of this idiot's ward, but it would get the attention of the rest of the City leadership (if we can really call our Mayor and the majority of our council as leaders.) If the City started feeling the pain of a boycott, then maybe the rest of the black leadership would open their mouths and speak out against this clown. So far, have heard nothing from the Mayor, the Council (except for Foote, who might be noted is in the minority of the Council). Where are the black leaders of our fair city? They aren't standing against this idiot. A boycott would eventually get their attention.

And yes - I am a resident of Jackson with a business in Jackson. I don't need the effects of a boycott, but I do want to see something done about this loudmouth idiot claiming to be the leadership of this city.

I will be boycotting any business located in Jackson. I like to feel safe in any business I choose to go into. With police being attacked, and those attacks supported by the elected officials, I don't feel safe inside of the city limits.

Some of you need to remember the entire State of MS is (unfairly) the target of a boycott for its state flag. The MS boycott punishes innocent business people who have nothing to do with the flag, just like a boycott of Jackson would punish businesses run by people who respect law enforcement and dislike Stokes. At least the MS boycott was the result of an actual state policy, as opposed to a single loud-mouth politician who has no power to do anything by himself and whose ward covers only 1/7th of the city. A boycott would not fix any problems.

If we boycott Jackson, where will people go to buy drugs?

Anonymous said...

For those Jacksonians who don't want the boycott, use your influence to isolate and neutralize the hogwash bafoon. If noone in the City supports him but his ward, eventually he will become ineffective as a politician and be voted out of office.

I don't boycott businesses per se, but I do shop online instead of driving to Ridgeland, Madison, and Flowood. There's a lot of traffic in those small towns. But to the benefit of my state, I am taxed online, so it's all good.

I live in Jackson, but I was born and raised in Calhoun County. I just came from there tonight. That's two hours away from Jackson. Generally people in north Mississippi shop in Tupelo and Memphis. How is the sheriff planning on boycotting stores that he probably only shops in once or twice a year anyway?

Anonymous said...

by not shopping there once or twice a year

Time to resign said...

I'm boycotting any black owned business in Jackson until he resigns

Anonymous said...

Did the blacks give two hoots when they boycotted white owned businesses int he 60's?? All that did was hurt honest hard working people that had nothing to do with their plight but they did it any way and it worked to some extent.

My family was directly affected by the boycotts of the 60's. Its turn about is fair play but the blacks wont see it that way.

Boycott is the only way the people have to stand up to racism and criminals. Maybe moving the state capital will help.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
