Well, if you have Chiquita brand banana bread mix, you'd think they'd have Chiquita bananas, not Dole.

You go to war with the bananas you have.....

(Apologies to Don Rumsfeld)

Isn't it obvious?

The bananas offered aren't the variety locally grown in Fondren.

Anonymous said...

Spelling cream "creme" which is located right above the Banana Bread Mix? (Unless of course that was banana creme brulee).

Anonymous said...

The bananas are fake.

Anonymous said...

The banana nut bread is in the pre-preparatory phase and not in the consumption phase?

Anonymous said...

I thought you weren't supposed to bag bananas....could be wrong....

Those are the Best of Jackson 2012 Banana and Nut winners.

If you have the banana bread mix, why do you need the almonds and pistachios? Do you use pistachios in banana bread?

Anonymous said...

What's wrong is that you didn't even use a question mark... ಠ_ಠ

Anonymous said...

those aren't bananas, they are plantains?

Kingfish said...

They are bananas.

One commentor is on the right track.

bananas nuts and cream all in one pic . . . kinda gross

Anonymous said...

You'd be "nuts" to put pistachios in banana nut bread.

Anonymous said...

no nilla wafers ?? (:

Improperly posted banana handling permit.

Metta World Peace likes banana puddin

Banana creme should be refrigerated?

One of the bananas is a pedophile. (left, center)

Anonymous said...

pistachios and bananas dont make any recipe... you need walnuts

Anonymous said...

Why would you have the flavored mix next to the real thing?

The lighting, the angle and the subject are ALL wrong. A trained eye, taking the same photo, yields this result:

What are mini bananas anyway?

Anonymous said...

Who, other than you and your warped mind, think that something is wrong with this picture?

There's no food pyramid label with Mooch-elle's picture.

Besides, who the hell goes around inside McDade's supermarket snapping photos. What a goob!

Anonymous said...

I hope the overripe bagged bananas are marked down!

Anonymous said...

mmmmm...I don't buy fruit or veggies a McDade's anyhoo...theirs is always out of date or ugly!!!! can't wait for Whole Food's!!!!
The one in New orleans is the best..

Anonymous said...

Bananas were not properly quarantined; evidenced by color and shrinkage.

Kingfish said...

Clue: check the bags.

Anonymous said...

Real Banana Bread doesn't come in a box. What else can you do with the overripe ones if you already have the bread in a box?

Looks like Chiquita Bananas in a Dole Bag.

What kind of fruits are on this hat? What do you put them on?

Funny fruit on a hat picture

Is there mold growing inside the bag of mini bananas or could it be live fruit flies?
BTW, this has been a most amusing thread.

Anonymous said...

They are Mini bananas?

Jerry Lane is marking everything down again. Including the bananas. Half off lowest ticketed price. A dozen bananas from McDades with each purchase. Nineteen times this friggin' store has flooded in two years. You get another ten percent off if you correctly guess who is shorter ~ St.Pe or Gallo.

Small print on bags says "10% of gross receipts go to the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District".

Here is the deal. Bananas ripen. News to everyone I'm sure. If you have a really green banana and want to speed up the ripening process, you put it in a bag or container and close it. Thats why at grocery stores you will often see the tops of boxes of bananas removed- so they won't ripen too quick and force the store to throw them away.

What is funny here is the produce guy is putting the bananas in plastic bags, sealing them, and destroying his own merchandise.

Anonymous said...

Dole ships the mini-bananas pre-packaged when they are green.

And now this blog is lame.

Me? I would've just walked right by them and not given a crap.

Maybe the hidden message in "plastic-bag-gate" is that KF has too much time on his hands.

(chill out. was a joke.)

OCD much?

Liberals tend not to get regular dental care, thus they prefer the over ripe bananas.

There's always money in the banana stand...

you don't make banana nut bread with the pretty bright yellow bananas. you wait until they turn brown. those are probably old bananas that are good for nothing except banana nut bread. If you were a produce manager, you wouldn't put ugly ass brown bananas out for display next to the pretty yellow ones.

I did hear that the produce manager at McDade's is coming out with his own blog though. I'm sure no one will read it.

Bananas? Really? I'd much rather discuss Claiborne Frazier ditching his truck and girlfriend on I-10 yesterday and runnin into the woods to evade the police...now there's something to talk about!

Since we veered off-topic to McDade's - anyone know how they will react to a Whole Foods going up across the street in Highland Village? I wonder how much business from Jackson Fresh market in Ridgeland will lose once it opens.

Auburn Rat said...

even I go to Whole Foods here in ATL, as cheap as I am!....it's cool and the samples are great :). Highland Village is the perfect Place fora store like this. As far as McDades, I think it should only help. Whole Foods is expensive and McDade's will be it's counter. Fresh Market is even more expensive and also limited. Congrats to my home town.

I worked in grocery stores in high school and college, including a couple of years in produce. I just notice little things like that when I go in a store. No holes in bags. they were real ripe last night. ;-)

I'm in McDades almost every day and will continue to do so after Whole Foods opens. (I even like their famous bananas).

However, I am intrigued about the great cheese selections these Whole Foods stores are supposed to have. Any cheese experts reading this know anything about their cheeses?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
