Classy!

Never let it be said Ty Pinkins won't campaign anywhere or anytime in his bid to unseat Senator Roger Wicker.

Mr. Pinkins popped up in the ICU waiting room at UMC today.  However, the Democrat Senatorial candidate could not just visit someone but had to appear with two campaign t-shirt wearing followers in tow and proceeded to pass out campaign literature to the waiting room.  Yes, you read that correctly.

Classy.

Lots of class! All low!

That’s Democratic Senator, Kingfish. You should at least pretend to be non-biased if you ever want to be taken seriously as anything more than a pissant gossip blogger.

Tacky and selfish. Speaks volumes of his lack of character.

Empty head versus empty suit.

Always love it when someone like 6:13 chimes in and thinks that the proper way to reference is with the 'ic' added -- as if it makes a difference.

I guess its because Democrats don't like to be pointed out as Democrats, based on the party's record. Otherwise, not sure what an 'ic' adds to the discussion. But to some of them in Mississippi, they'll fight you over this unknown distinction.

6:13, why does someone with your anger management issues read a “pissant gossip blogger”? An easy solution for you, me, & KF would be for you to remove this site from your browser favorites.

Should be arrested

No, it isn't "Democratic," and the person referenced isn't a senator, he is a candidate. The village idiot is a person, the village idiotic is not. For example, Choppedmeat is the village idiot, his administration is a big part of the village idiotic. In this case, the pissant is correcter than his corrector...

Damn.

I'm missing something. What's wrong with what he did, besides not being "classy?" Please quote me the formal Amy Vanderbilt rule on his misconduct.

Why do democratic get riled being called democrats? lol

@8:54

If you think it is appropriate for a total stranger and hangers-on to enter an ICU waiting room filled with those worried about their family members- to impose upon them political pitches— there is nothing I can do for you.

Ditto, 9:01

Kind of reminds me of Jake and Elwood Blues driving through the empty cornfield publicizing their show.

8:54, if you were in an ICU waiting room hoping a family member made it through the night, and a politician came in shoving campaign literature in your face, you would understand and would not be “missing” anything. I’m sure it’s not covered by Amy Vanderbilt, but neither is farting in church, but trust me, don’t do it.

8:54 - Just as I thought. A drama queen response with no reference to any established etiquette standards as I requested.

It seems an odd spot for a campaign rally - any info on why he was there?

Anonymous said...

6:13, Democrats are not "democratic". There's a difference.

Where were the security guards?? The guy's a bum, and the ICU is off limits. Period.

Not sure he's an Attorney, but this is ambulance chasing right out of Grisham's "The Rainmaker". Danny DeVito type.

It’s just me, of course, and only me, likely, who thinks campaigning for office in the ICU is better by far than campaigning and politicking at a worship service on Sunday morning, something I have seen both white and black candidates do in Mississippi.

I don't know what the proper response to this would be. I would have accepted the literature, glanced at it, torn it into pieces, dropped it to the floor at his feet and told the guy, "Pick up your shit and get out of my face, Asshole." Hopefully he would take that personally.

UMMC is a bit of a labyrinth that has grown and changed confined to a limited blueprint .
I can't know from this piece how easy or difficult it would have been to notice that this waiting room was only for those with family in ICU not connected to adjacent medical area.
Indeed, more than once for outpatient procedures, I've even been in more than one waiting room during the process. One waiting room for patients and family awaiting care and another close by for friends and family to wait for recovery or a visit.
It's pretty easy to get take a wrong turn even for medical students.

I plan to vote again for Roger Wicker but as someone who has been an UMMC patient for decades and navigating a changing UMMC is often challenging.
This seems much ado about nothing.

What the post failes to mention is that Ty Pinkins was actually visiting his father a patient in the ICU. In fact, his father has been in that very ICU for two months--fighting for his life.

Kingfish said...

So what? I knew that and didn't include it out of respect for his privacy. But the ICU waiting room is one of the LAST places where you should campaign. No apologies.

How can Arkansas have multiple true Republicans with brains and a desire to effect positive change (i.e. Tom Cotton and Sarah Sanders) while Mississippi has none, or even worse in being stuck with doofuses like Roger Wicker and Michael Guest?

Anonymous said...

No apologies needed, Kingfish. ICU waiting room is no place for any campaigning. I don't care who you are or if you are visiting loved ones. That is a very hard room to be in. Lived in one for several months and, trust me, a politician is not welcomed.

Totally agree with 12:05. My vote changes every election, attempting to find a Mississippi candidate who will "stand tall", for Mississippi, just as former Auburn football coach, Tommy Tuberville immediately began doing for his state.

Anonymous said...

9:26, the fact that Ty’s father was in the ICU means he knew exactly where he was and make his actions even more damning. And KF was right to not include that due to privacy concerns.

Anonymous said...

This is almost as bad as giving out mortuary business cards/brochures.

Anonymous said...

I agree. As an MSU alum, I didn't care for Tubberville as an opposing coach, but as a US Senator, Tubberville has been refreshing.

Although HIPAA roadblocked the ability of 'travelin preachers' to peruse 'the book' and visit patients flat of their back in hospital rooms...I always resented their visits.

Some of you will say, "Oh, I appreciate the prayers". That's fine. But the true reason for their visits was recruitment. And a hospital is no place to recruit church members.

People handing out business cards for mortuary services, law firms, elective office and weight reduction programs are off limits at hospitals.

I'm very disappointed in Mr. Pinkins if this is the full story.
I hope it isn't, as when I saw him a few months ago, he was an impressively gracious person.

He was at an event in Rankin County where a couple of people kept behaving like an ex-girlfriend interrupting a wedding.

One older man had random, incoherent outburst and kept complaining that people were trying to steal his car keys.

Another woman kept talking so loudly we could not hear Mr. Pinkins and then had a meltdown where she kept screaming, "OK! OK! OK! Listen to me!"

We were frozen in disbelief, but Mr. Pinkins handled everything so kindly without causing anyone any further embarrassment.

I wish whoever organized that event would invite Mr. Pinkins more often and leave Pawpaw and the Hot Mess at home.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
