Whoa, Nelly. The CCID Court will remain in purgatory. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last night:
Judges Jennifer Elrod, Kurt Englehardt, and Jerry Smith comprised the tribunal that issued the stay. Republican presidents appointed all three judges.
Kingfish note: Expected but the result will probably be the same. The CCID Court works within the traditional framework for municipal courts. Municipal Court judges are appointed as CCID Court judges under HB #1020. Mayors appoint one set of judges, the Chief Justice appoints the other.
Appointed judges are commonplace across America and is the rule for federal courts. Citizens don't have an inherent right to elected judges. Citizens just have to be treated the same under the law. Such did not happen when HB #1020 created the four extra appointed circuit judges .
Both CCID court and municipal court judges are appointed. Decisions can be appealed to County Court or Circuit Court. Quibbling over who appoints the judges is getting rather attenuated on the equal protection and due process claims, especially when the plaintiffs have not suffered any real injury.

No pithy commentary about ruling from the local Q / nut job aggregator?
Nice summing up, KF. This city will get cleaned up eventually
Order released on New Year's Eve? Were any adult beverages involved?
Who gives a shift. Move to Idaho away from this madness.
Do this puts Wingate in the corner with his nose agains the wall?
To the Plaintiffs and the City of Jackson Mississippi wouldn’t it be easier and more fair and equitable to just let the Citizens know that the CCID will appoint Judges and Do Not Commit Crimes in the CCID’s jurisdiction.
In addition give all the Criminals a map of the CCID jurisdiction and circle that area in red! Let them know that the area outside the CCID is business as usual where you may get a blessing.
It doesn’t matter what the voter wants, it doesn’t matter what the voter voted for in our “democracy,” because some damn fedjudge is always there to throw the will of the voters right into the shitcan.
I thought the legislature represented the will of the voters. The federal courts, so far, simply have allowed the will of the voters to remain in place, as expressed by their legislative representatives. The legislature has acted to protect the citizens of the state, not just the residents of Jackson, since Jackson’s local government cannot seem to effectively provide the most basic functions of local government: water, sewer service, or crime control.
Dang, I want to commit a crime in Jackson however I may come before a judge that’s appointed and not elected!
I drive drunk and may kill someone in the process and hope I come before a judge that’s elected and not appointed!
Translation: The NAACP wants judges who look like them, so to guarantee that demand requires that they be elected by Jackson's majority demographic.
That is the bottom line.

Citizens (and I use that word loosely for Jackson) voted for soft on crime judges. You can't expect to give murderers light sentences and slaps on the wrist forever before people get fed up. If you had it your way you'd be king of a shitpile. Oh wait you already are.
This ccid is in Michael guest area and maybe he should comment some on it considering the area of ne Jackson is where he lives to host fundraisers at several of the super elite well to do family’s in eastover and mire than a few houses hosted parties for him at CCJ.
8:21 You win he prize!
No, 2:14 - 1:34 wins the prize for deflecting from the subject and getting his britches hung on the bob-war fence. If you know what the hell he's talking about, please translate.
Heck the House & Senate is in session in Jackson. Most of us don’t go into COJ in years since crime has escalated. I don’t care what Chief Wade says about it dropping. They will kill him or anyone if they choose as there are no consequences strong enough right now. Stiffer laws is the only answer, not programs after the fact the law was broken.
