Can't blame the Airport Board for not trying. The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority Board of Commissioners tried yet again to meet last night but was unable to do so because of a lack of a quorum.
Commissioners Robert Martin and Lucius Wright showed up while Commissioner Ricky Jones stayed away. The Board has two vacancies. The City Council appointed pediatrician Dr. Geraldine Chaney to the Board in June but she resigned before attending any meetings.
The three Commissioners attended the regular monthly meeting on July 25 but Mr. Jones suddenly walked out of the meeting after the Board postponed a vote on the claims docket at his urging. The Board went into recess.
The Board attempted to come out of recess on July 28 and August 2 but was unable to do so since Mr. Jones did not appear at either meeting.
Mr. Jones stayed away again yesterday thus the Board did not have the votes to come out of recess.
Of course, there is a simple solution for this problem. The Mayor can submit two nominations to the City Council and get them approved. Of course, that may require him nominating people who aren't his cronies.

There is a tried and true solution. Hold the meetings in Paris.
What is Jones avoiding? Is Jones waiting for the media scrutiny to abate in order to feather a friendly nest or pull some other shenanigan? Does Jones have the board tied in knots because the Emperor believes dysfunctional government improves his leverage?
One thing is certain, like all things associated with Lumumba, give him an opportunity and he'll surely turn whatever he can to total shit. No pun intended.
Can you say repossessed sewer vacuum trucks? LOL LOL LOL
Rickey Jones, who has an amazingly high opinion of himself, has been a disaster on the Library and Airport Boards.
Whoever that Mr. Jones is needs to either resign from the board, or they need to can his ass. I've asked this question before, and I'll ask it again. Is there one SINGLE thing that the City of Jackson is responsible for that operates like it should??
Where is the airport law that changes it. This is ridiculous. Jackson and the airport are spending millions in legal fees to save this leadership? Turn it over and let's move on.
Mr. Maher don't care. He don't give a f*$%. It's his goal to choke off Jackson. Apathy and inaction create the easiest route to get there.
Can anyone explain why the Airport Board doesn't want to meet with a quorum. I assume the lack of certain attendees is intentional. Is there something they're going to vote on that's controversial?
I know it's chump change, but, the allowed rate per mile times miles driven, round trip, times number of 'attempts' to meet, plus whatever incidentals they can squeeze into these trips and remain legal...will, over 12 months, be a nice Christmas Spending Account.
Since this is Municipal Madness, they're probably not constrained by any state travel regulations. And whether there is a quorum or not, each who shows up will still get paid for a meeting. They MUST be compensated for their time and travel regardless of where there is/was an official meeting.
What happened to Josh Harkins legislative takeover?
Come visit the Jackson Airport, brought to you by Richards Disposal
It's probably for the best-
Can’t the Mayor just VETO the board and do what he wants? I mean, it works elsewhere…. Lol
Sad!
Simple solution. Take control of the airport away from Jackson. It is not “in Jackson”, heck, it is not even in Hinds county.
It’s like déjà vu all over again.
So is the Governor saying that the airport is not worth fighting over? It’s embarrassing.
How can the FAA tolerate the third world management (aka Jackson "leadership") that creates this unbelievable situation?
Has every former Mayor had his name on the entrance to the airport sign?
I wonder what was on the claims docket that the Mayor doesn't want paid.
9:39, surprise! It actually is in Jackson. That land was annexed by Jackson decades ago in order to build an airport.
The good news is that those continuous loop airport terminal announcements containing Chowke's self-serving bloviations still function, right?
So when is the state taking over the Jackson airport?
Attn 11:33 Well it is time to “un-annex” the area where the airport is located.
10:40. You can’t be serious.
Anyone know when the JMAA 2021 Audit Report is expected to be released? Looks like in the last 3 years they have been issued in March, April, and May.
Like I said before, a lounge chair, umbrella and a ice chest with beer on the old viewing area. I promise I'll come inside for the meetings. Can't be that hard now, can it.
City of Flowood needs to come up 25 north a little ways and build an airport. Millions of dollars in development could take place for Rankin County if they did so. This would be the only solution to the problem, you can't even take a piss in the city of Jackson so you know damn well they cant run an international airport.
" It is not in Jackson, heck, it is not even in Hinds county".
Well, 9:39 although in Rankin County, it is a part of The City of Jackson.
Municipalities can cover more than one county.
Many don't realize a very small part of the City of Jackson also extends into Madison County, along I-220.
Zerobear Polybear for Airport Comission. I'm the bear they barely need to make a quoroum (SP?).
Third World joke.
One night a late flight came in and the pilots
Could not believe there was no place to even get a cup of coffee.
Grass needs cut.
Elevators always broken.
I fly through this dump monthly and it’s a joke.
