M-C student inspired by 2 Samuel 6:20

A male student at Madison Central today was apparently inspired by 2 Samuel when he took a bad trip on what is thought to be some spice.  He got real emotional while reading some poetry, lost control, took off all of his clothes, and ran out of the school stark naked and all the way to a bathroom at Broadmoor Baptist Church before he was apprehended by Madison PD.  It is not known if he is the Kwizatz Haderach.

I have one of the students sitting in my living room as we speak. MC is the wrong place to run around naked. Every kid there has a cell phone camera and they all were clicking away. There are hundreds of pictures hitting the web right now.

Why the teaser? What the hell does the scripture say?

Do you think at MC they'll turn him in for dancing?

@ 5:50 wrong MC

Madison Central is not the first school that comes to mind when I see "MC". I think of Mississippi College. Surely there is some way to differentiate between the two since they have the same initials. My suggestion would be MCHS.

Spice is incredibly dangerous. Please, please, please talk to your children about spice. This is a new drug that is extremely lethal and is readily available.

If marijuana was legalized, the spice problems would decrease dramatically.

Epilogue: A helpful Mormon boy gathered up the clothes and took them to the principal's office so they could be returned to their owner. Which is the most Mormon thing you could possibly do in this situation.

6:55 -- Then 13 year olds could just sleep through class. Kill their growing brain cells and just get fatter. Great idea........do a little investigation on what is has done to Colorado -- not the PC junk, but REAL research -- companies moving out, workers unable to find jobs, issues in interstate crime between adjoining states.....etc. etc. GROW up and get a moving van -- sounds like the perfect place for you to start anew.

BREAKING NEWS: The Queen just issued a press release that places the blame squarely on RUDY WARNOCK & ASSOCIATES. She claims this is validation of her "corruption" charges. Plans to file a counter-suit against WARNOCK for his defamatory statements against her and her kingdom.

If they legalize pot, it will just get "spiked" with something more dangerous to get a better high. Our kids brains are already fried with vaccinations, supplements and common core testing.

7:58, yep, CO is going to hell in a handbasket.

Maybe those heathens in CO will realize they need to be just like us cutting edge folks here in MS.

Now get off my 6,000 year old lawn!

I think the problems Jackson is already having with spice are a great predictor of what actual marijuana do once legalized. No one can prevent spice from getting into the hands of children, it's not a helpful tax source, it is a huge cost on our society. Hippies from the 60's, move on. It's not the same as it is today. Drugs evolve and get more potent over time. I think the boomers of today are living proof of what even minor drugs can do to your brain.

This is extremely sad and I am shocked by the comments regarding this event. Prayers to the young and his family. I hope he gets the treatment he needs and hope that more young people will realize how destructive these synthetic drugs can be.

To the people saying marijuana should stay illegal in Mississippi: If you're not saying alcohol and tobacco should be illegal, you have an inconsistent view. Those two drugs kill people like flies. Should they be legal? Would it be better if criminal gangs took over their markets?

Anonymous said...

Why isn't this reported on any local news websites?

12:20pm, you must sell fruit because you are talking apples and oranges. The true cost of cigarettes has been raised to a point where it is almost illegal (social costs, health-related costs, $ costs). Marijuana's true cost (including potential criminal charges, health problems, etc.) is comparable to tobacco products, just a little higher (no pun intended). Black market tobacco products already exist due to the costly nature of tobacco that we as society has placed upon them. Go to New York, London, anywhere, you will find cigarettes being smuggled in from other countries. At this point in juncture, we either face the cost to police and enforce anti-drug laws or face the total costs of allowing people to use drugs whenever they want. I think the anti-drugs route might be more cost-effective. It may not. I would be pleasantly surprised if people could make the best decisions for themselves. With the current outbreak of spice-related incidents, I don't think that this is the case.

People smoke spice because it's marketed as a substitute for marijuana. You can smoke spice and still pass a drug test. I've never heard of anyone smoking marijuana and dreaming out like that. Or trying to literally eat other people as has occurred in other states. There are two reasons marijuana is still illegal. The first is the government couldn't tax it, and the second is corporate profits.

To the idiot that said if marijuana was legal they would spike it and the problem would get worse: marijuana is literally just a weed that can be grown anywhere, including your living room. If people are going to spike a plant they grew themselves, why even bother adding the substance to reefer?

Dear God, Please convict us all and soften our hearts to the pain people are going through, be it self-inflicted OR not. Jesus, I know that you told us in Matthew 24:12 that there would come a time when "sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold." Oh, Dear GOD, to see the coldness toward a child...when not ONE of us imperfect people could claim to have never done one thing dumb like this...or worse...the coldness of our hearts and the words of hate that fall from our lips...Lord, convict us....make us "remember" what used to be right. Too, Dear Holy God, be with these parents and hold their son in the safety of Your hands. PLEASE, OH, PLEASE be with all of our children who could make the same mistake this young man did, TONIGHT. Always let us remember THAT. Please Lord, if it is Your will, restore this child to wholeness and allow him to teach others of the dangers. Most of all, I beg you to turn this country back to You...I beg that Your Holy Spirit moves GREATLY and POWERFULLY through this country and changes people's hearts and minds. Forgive us as a nation for going so far against You and YOUR standards. Restore this young man, and restore this nation. In JESUS'S HOLY and all powerful name, I BEG these things.

Marijuana will probably be legalized eventually and society in general will rue the day. It is addictive for some and potheads are right pitiful people. Driving under the influence of marijuana is dangerous and can kill the user as well as others just like drunk driving. Adolescents who use stop their emotional maturity and if they are lucky enough to get away from the habit have a hard time maturing. People who use are playing with fire.

This student was over 19 years of age. Old enough to knIiw better. I hope that his health will be restored; however, what if the next instance injures innocent individuals?
Thank you for the wonderful prayer. It is my hope that all our young people will learn from this and that this will never be repeated. What about the small children who had to witness him as he was running toward the Church. (There were small children in the area). I think he needs help; I hope the lab results will be released and that charges will be considered.

Has anyone considered the kid may have experienced the onset of a previously unknown condition such as manic depression (or is it PC to say bi-polar)? There would be some odd behavior leading up to this, but manic depression can have shocking effects like this as well. People can and do snap. I saw it happen with one of my best friends when we were about 16. He had always been a little odd, but when he was finally diagnosed, it was an incident similar to this that brought it to a head.

Sure, the toxicology may show different, but possible mental illness shouldn't be ignored in our "judgement" of this kid. And we shouldn't "judge" before all of the evidence is in.

Anonymous said...

7:02 and 9:03 I totally agree with both points of view. Also, don't ever say it could never be your kid. No one has any idea what happened to that young man. Judgements are so easily formed and regardless we do need to pray for those believers that GOD will intervene on behalf of all and especially our kids faced with issues regardless of what the problem is.. My prayers go out to this young man and his family.

Anonymous said...

i meant to add to my last comment that I still agree but even when the results come in I don't think they should be made public, and we shouldn't "judge" regardless . This family deserves privacy of the results as we all should be allowed with no judgement if our kids were in the same situation. Prayers for the family and young man.

Drug tests look for THC, which is not in spice. So yes you can pass a drug test having smoked it. There would be no market for these synthetic drugs if weed was legal (can't be disputed). To those that say CO has gone to hell in a hand basket, you have not a single empirical point to back that up. Thank you baby boomers, but we see your drug war has failed and you have done nothing but run this country into insane debt.

Anonymous said...

I've learned that drugs are an equal opportunity substance. They don't discriminate against rich, poor, black, white, girl, boy, young, or old. They are in every neighborhood if you know on which door to knock. Drugs will destroy a family. I am praying for this family, because this is all of our worst nightmare.

Anonymous said...

I'm all over the place on this. First, my heart goes out to this boy. Fifty years ago, he would have been adult, but now even 20 somethings are still kids, guess it's our hover parenting. I can't imagine how he will feel when he realizes he stripped for his classmates and it's online. It could have been worse, as others said, someone could be hurt. But I can't conceive of a way it could be prevented. People that want to do drugs, or have a mental illness, can't be predicted or stopped.
Also, anyone that says it couldn't happen in their family is really delusional. I have four almost grown children (16-26) and none has ever gotten in trouble. But, oh, they could have. I've seen great kids make stupid choices.
Lastly, we vacationed last spring break in Keystone. I was baffled at how bad the service was most places til I remembered the legalization. I'm not a prude, and do wonder what is best, but many of the young people working up there seemed totally stoned. As in, buy a t-shirt and they forget to ask for payment, or give you the shirt. And giggle when you remind them. I read the local paper and they are struggling trying to figure out the rules/law changes to address stoned driving, stoned at work, etc.
I love the idea of a legal high with no calories (lol) but CO opened my eyes.
Lord help us (seriously) and my heart hurts for that boy and his family. Who knows what his life is like - he could be a spoiled kid with money to spend on drugs, or someone who is suffering in ways we can't know.

Please pray for this young man. I know him and considering his personal situation, I wish him the best. He should be punished for what he did, there is no excuse, he is a 19 yr old young man. Again, no excuse. But he has had to endure a lot in his young life. He was back at school yesterday for a meeting with authorities. I hope it goes well for him.

Anonymous said...

I do not know this young man or anything about his personal situation. I don't know what caused his bizarre outburst, but I do hope and pray he receives the proper intervention.

With that being said, I recently read of a new synthetic drug call flakka or 'gravel'. Several things in the article made me think of this young man because of similarities in reported users' behavior - stripping/running nude, paranoia, delusions, hallucinating.

Flakka is a dangerous, cheap drug. Changes in its chemical makeup make it difficult to test for the drug.

We've recently heard and read much about 'spice'. I recommend reading up on flakka. It's scary.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
