Mark Seepe is back in jail for violating his probation. The ghoul pleaded guilty to six counts of embezzling pre-paid cremation services funds for his own use. It was also reported during his prosecution that he "mishandled" the remains of the deceased. Mishandled was too polite a word but the reporter was trying to show some respect to the family members. Seepe served all of 18 months of a 10-year prison sentence thanks to one of Chris Epps's early supervised release miracles.
Monica Hernandez reported at WLBT ten years ago:
The search for Mark Seepe ended Wednesday at the Red Roof Inn off High Street in Jackson. The Attorney General's Public Integrity Division watched the former Jackson funeral director's room through the night before he was busted for failing to appear in court Monday.
"I think if he could hop on a plane to Barbados and not pay for any of this, he would be fine and he would have no problem sleeping at night and living the high life," said Katrina Jameson, a former client of Seepe's funeral home.
In another twist, authorities captured Seepe's girlfriend, 46-year-old Angela Darlene Bishop. She's charged with Hindering Prosecution for trying to prevent Seepe's arrest at the motel.
The AG's office said Seepe embezzled thousands of dollars for pre-needs funeral arrangements. He's facing six counts of embezzlement in Hinds County and two counts in Rankin County. His bond was set at a total of $40,000.
When Seepe was first arrested on embezzlement charges in February, Attorney General Jim Hood told WLBT the crime may be more common than some people might think.
"They're supposed to go put this money that you give them into a trust fund, but they deplete the fund is what's happening. They take the money out or they don't put the money in and spend your money," said Hood. The investigation into Mark Seepe Funeral Directors and Crematorium began just over a year ago, when a former crematorium employee raised questions about how Seepe was handling remains.
"There was no doubt whatsoever that he had not done what he was paid to do," said former employee Lori Wilkinson. "These people are getting boxes of who knows what.
Wilkinson snapped photos that appeared to show piles of bones in buckets. Then, WLBT found what appeared to be bone fragments in a dumpster outside Seepe's business. Seepe denied everything.
"I'm just trying to get a whole lot of misunderstandings straightened out," Seepe told WLBT while Jackson police officers searched through Seepe's dumpster in March of 2008.
Because a gag order is barring anyone involved in the case from talking to the media, there is no word yet on why Seepe spent the night in a motel or what tipped off investigators. Court documents show
Remember this ghoul when people screech about turning "non-violent" offenders loose.

Man, a brand new full size truck for under $20,000. Those were the days.
This story just won't die.
"Remember this when people talk about turning non-violent offenders loose"?????
The man embezzled money - at least that is what he was convicted of. (And, KF, he was not convicted by a Hinds County Grand Jury - they may have indicted him, but a regular jury did the convicting.)
What bothers you about it is that he mishandled remains. I agree - that is a terrible issue, although frankly I don't give a damn about what happens to my remains after I die. But, it was still a terrible action - that as best I can tell he was not convicted of or was sentenced for doing.
Don't know what he did to break his probation - but my question is - why does this raise the issue you throw out at the end. Long term sentencing of non-violent offenders? Do you think someone should serve ten years for embezzlement of $40,000?
Absolutely. If he had waved a knife and never touched anyone and stole $50 bucks, he would get a longer sentence. Someone who steals six figures should go to jail longer than a year or two. Pen, gun, or knife, it makes no difference. This is where your latent racism comes into play. If the perp steals with a knife or gun, well, throw the book at him. If he steals with a pen and steals alot more money, well, he is one of your own class so don't lock him up but for a short period of time.
When was the last time a store in New Orleans advertised in the Clarion Ledger?
KF, Because details matter, $40k is five figures, not six.
Yes, I think that stealing money at the point of a knife, gun, or axe handle is worse than embezzling, no matter the amount.
But that was not the question raised - it dealt with the release of non-violent criminals. So I take it from your response that you would be happy to have those that steal $50 from you on the street with a knife stuck in your face released early? Or, you just think everybody should be stuck in prison for long sentences - violent or not?
(And, BTW, there is nothing racial in my comments or questions - you try to inject racial issue ignoring the fact that I was questioning violent vs. non-violent. Believe there are plenty of non-violent offenders in jail today of races different than Seepe. But I realize it makes you happy, so keep your colored eyeshades on.)
I meant six figures. Had Klauser and Leonard in mind.
Oh. So, we are supposed to read your mind and automatically transfer from the case presented - where there was an embezzlement and you are questioning the non-violent prisoner being released - to two other cases of embezzlement? Sorry, I missed finding those lines to read between.
Left out of all this discussion is what did the creep do to violate his probation? Hope it was really, really good (for his sake) since he is now back enjoying the hospitality in CMCF.
Yup. You are supposed to read my mind .
Well, they(law) took away everything from him, he is not killer, he is not a monster. Yes, probably he was guilty and he was punished a lot, BUT why he has to pay for that mistake all his life. It's not fear, it's very cruel. I met him in Church in Ocean Springs. He is very nice person, he is kind and polite. He is a great musician. Why you want to finish him and dump him to an abyss? Better do it with people who is really criminal and killer
He most certainly is guilty, he decided to steal money from families. He decided to not cremate people properly. He decided to keep ashes in a big 50 gallon Drum. He decided to throw people's love ones in the garbage. He decided to do it all.not to mention he lied about all of it. Oh and by the way, he decided to violate hI ma so glad you feel he is a great man because he goes to church and is a good musician but he is a scum bag.
may be, he was , but he paid a lot for that. He've lost everything. I am sure it's very high price.
and remember "don't judge and won't be judged"
I bet you would feel different if he cremated your mother, fathe, brother, sister or son and then threw the ashes in a dumpster so they would end up in a land fill. But like you said, he was a good Christian man and attended your church in Ocean Springs. Give me a break. You don't know this man at all, that's why everyone calls him Mark Creep. But like you said e sure is a great musician. Oh and a wonderful liar to.
May be I dont know him so well like you. why he is arrested again? What he've done?
Why don't you take some time to do some research on him. Or simply read the Clarion Ledger article that is attached. You might learn something about this scum bag
what for? I know his past. I just dont know why he was arrested 8 days ago. Couldnt find any information.
He was arrested because he violated his parole.....scum bag seepe
So, you dont know anything. Why do you hate him so much? I am confused: Who is more dangerous to society? people, demanding blood and hating, or unfortunate person who has lost everything in his life, because he made a mistake and have to pay all his life.
Obviously you know only one side of this scum bag, unfortunately so many people know much more. I do not care if he is a good Christian and plays music at your church in ocean springs. This man robbed people of their finances at a difficult time in their life, when they were most vulnerable. Think about that. He stole money for people who placed their trust in them to handle their funerals and he lied about it. Then he cremated people improperly. He didn't even return people's ashes to them. They were commingled with cats, dogs, other people. And he lied about it. When he was caught, he threw those bones in the garbage. And he lied about it. Then after being arrested, he posted bail, then he ran. Yet another lie. This man deserves to be held accountable for his actions. Which he was not, he was given a second chance and he blew it. I understand you know only one side of him. Think of the other, and ask yourself how you would feel if this happened to your mother, father, brother, or son. Would you being saying the glorious things? I wait for an honest response to how you would feel if he gave you an urn of cement instead of someone you loved
This man prevented me from having my grandfathers ashes spread around the beautiful fig trees that he planted in our backyard. He desecrated the remains of my grandfather, yet you think he should only get a few years in prison? It's not just about the money, but also the immense pain he has caused the families of the deceased people that he desecrated.
Also, you say that he is not a monster? He is worse than a monster. This man is a psychopathic sociopath that can comfortably stab you in the back while he smiles in your face and pretends to be a good person. I'm good friends with his son and he can tell you just how much of a monster that Mark Seepe truly is. He beat his children on a daily basis and cheated on his wife on multiple occasions. This man will and deserves to rot in hell if there is truly a heaven and hell.
He also borrows money from friends to pay his debts and then disappears without a word. Real friends don't screw those that help in a time need. I wish I had known more about him from the start.......he is and always will be a con-man, swindler and snake!! Not sure how the man sleeps with himself at night........must be no conscience.
Agree, also he is a Gigolo, using women, asking for money to pay for his phone bills and etc , promising to give it back and never do it.
Ladies, who chatting with him on FB or another sites be careful, don’t trust him, everything he is saying is a LIAR.
The SOB owes me $500 for services he never paid for. Idiots, he is a con artist so he appears pleasant. Charles Manson was a musician. I saw he was killed in a car wreck in Union. LOL May he burn in HELL.
I'm not sure who you are, but I take it we know one another. Mark was my father. Yes, he did some horrible things in the past. There's no denying that. He hurt our family in more ways than one. After he and my mother were in a very bad car wreck when I was quite young, he began drinking a lot. The brain damage he incurred in the wreck, combined with alcoholism, turned him into someone none of us recognized. Unfortunately, I don't much remember what he was like before then. Because of when it happened and my age at the time, I unfortunately mostly remember only the bad things. The abuse is what finally caused the family to dissolve. It was after their separation that the problems he had with his business began to get worse, ultimately culminating in the story everyone is familiar with. He was certainly guilty of the embezzlement. As his life was falling apart and he got more and more desperate, he began using the funds from the pre-arranged funerals. He may have done a lot of bad things, and my family has more reasons to be angry with him than anyone else, but none of us believe he was giving remains to families that were not their loved ones. The impetus for him being investigated came when a disgruntled employee he had just fired sought to get revenge on him. The crematorium was currently out of service as every so often they have to be refurbished. The cement base has to be torn out and replaced with a new one. The employee was fired during the time that maintenance was taking place. He went to the crematorium and took pictures of it, showing a giant hole and lots of cement rubble. He then sent those pictures to the newspaper, accompanied by false claims that this was what the crematorium regularly looked liked, and that cement rubble was often mixed with the remains. Those claims are what led to an investigation into the mishandling of remains. Those allegations were not found to be accurate or well-founded, which is why my father was never charged with anything relating to the mishandling of remains or improper disposal. As he was being investigated, the financial records of the funeral home were examined, which is how the embezzlement was discovered. We didn't doubt his guilt there. A lot of people were upset that he only served 18 months of his 10 year sentence, which is understandable, but I can assure you the rest of his life wasn't anything to be envious of. He had nothing but some clothes, was essentially unemployable, and had virtually no friends or family to speak of. He was either on house arrest or probation for nearly all the rest of his life, and the few years he wasn't were spent dealing with heart disease that ultimately killed him. He had a major heart attack while driving a car, and the coroner said it was most likely that he was dead before the car wrecked. The only good things were that he had sobered up and was at least trying to be better for the last few years. I'm sure that means nothing to any of the people he wronged, but as his son it meant something. I can't apologize on his behalf for anything he did, but my brother and I have always felt grieved for anyone he hurt. I'm not sure which of my friends you are, but I hope you're doing well. After seeing your comment, even if 7 years later, I thought you may be interested to know how the story ended.
Mark was my father. I'm very sorry for whatever it is he owed, and I can understand how you feel about him. May I ask what he owed you for?
