Bush comes to Jackson

Former Florida Governor and GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush visited the home of Randy James today for a fund-raiser for his campaign.  The event is closed to the media. An email that was sent out to invitees provided the following quotes and list of supporters:

“My experience with economic development issues tells me Jeb’s plan to grow the economy and cast off the shackles of the Obama Administration’s bad policy decisions is exactly what we need to grow jobs and opportunity in this country. His tax reform and energy platforms are also big parts of what this country needs to achieve higher growth rates. As a veteran, I am thrilled with Jeb’s plan to restore America’s leadership role in the world and fix the broken Veterans Affairs Administration. Jeb is an experienced and proven leader during a time of great turmoil and big problems in our country. That’s why I support him for President,” Mike Chaney, Mississippi Commissioner of Insurance.

"After Katrina devastated the Coast, Gov. Bush acted immediately and sent first responders from Florida to help us begin to recover. I will never forget his concern for us in Mississippi even while dealing with a number of hurricanes in his own state,” Dave Dennis, Specialty Contractors & Associates, three-time Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board New Orleans, LA.

This list is about as establishment as one can get in Mississippi.  What is interesting is the Mississippi GOP establishment seems to be supporting either Kasich or Bush.  Interesting because they are two the more moderate candidates and are seen as the GOP establishment's choice.  No bucking the party elders here a la Mounger & Reagan.

Last thing we need is another Bush or Clinton. We fought a war to get out from under a monarchy. Bush has been fumbling and bumbling in the debates. The same old crowd in Washington is supporting him. Time to dump the Washington cartel.

No not surprised at all that the GOP establishment is supporting the moderate candidates. Look at our congressmen's voting record and you will see that Harper and Cochran are two of the more liberal voting republicans in the southeast. Many people are getting hosed in our state thinking they are voting for people that are standing up for their beliefs. Saw Friday that our attorney general (loretta lynch) is threatening free speech. Mr. Cochran voted for her saying she met all the qualifications.

As much as I detest Hillary, I'd vote for her, just to keep that WORST BUSH YET out of office. He clearly has utter contempt for Americans, for Protestants, for white people, and (probably the root of all his contempt) for his parents.

You have to be really low, to be more lowdown than Hillary Clinton.

Boggles the mind (of a political outsider) why men/women of even moderate mental capacity would support this candidate or Kasich either one. Both are obvious losers. There is not one chance in hell either would be elected or be selected as a running mate. Why would anybody piss their money into the wind in support of these men?

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah Chrissy, let's all vote for Trump!! Circular firing squad, meet the right wing!!

Anonymous said...

Is the GOP in charge of helping democrats?

Jeb is not where it is at, this is just sad that our wealthy citizens will line up in support of whatever the GOP tell them.

The McNuts are out trolling today!

Wait until you see Josh & Q pick one out of the pack!

But You Already Knew This... said...

Actually 'the circular firing squad' was put in office about seven years ago. But, back to the point....why would anybody with money shovel it to Kasich or Bush, both of whom have campaigns which are on life support due to the fact that they are unelectable. One has to be reminded of several 'Gil Carmichael for Governor' campaigns.

Unless they purchase democrat votes like they did in the last election, the establishment republicans in Mississippi are irrelevant. You people are quick to forget that the majority of republicans in Mississippi voted against the establishment republicans.

Anonymous said...

Wow, the McGOP'ers are out in full force attacking Cochran. Get over it people.

As long as ol' Thad is serving he is fair game. Sorry Charlie.

Guys...start needlepointing or something useful..your opinion and your vote in Presidential elections doesnt count.

Anonymous said...

The whole state of Ms. does not count in any presidential election. Never has and never will. It is a shame the voters are not intelligent enough to know it.

Depending on the outcome in the early states, it is very feasible that Mississippi's delegates could be very relevant in this cycle. Here's to hoping.

ANONYMOUS at 4:42. Unless you want to come out from behind your mother's apron and speak with your identity, take your lying libelous statements back to your Klan meeting and pass them around among your friends that don't pay attention to truth or facts.

I have never bought a vote from anyone. Your continued crying about losing doesn't change that fact. If you want to come out with your name and your facts, I'll be glad to discuss it with you. But as long as all you want to do is take your crying towel and sob about the fact that you and your boy lost - shut it up. Maybe take 9:05's suggestion and start needlepointing. Then you can create you a nice towel to wipe your tears with.

Chrissie lost. Fair and square. There was no 'vote buying' despite your continued lies to the contrary. You want to say differently - bring on the evidence and stand behind your statements.

In 2016 the establishment Repubs wanted GOPers to vote for Romney in the MS primary. He came in third but went on to win the nomination. How'd that work out? LOL

...and your comment doesn't count here either. Stay home on election day.

Senator Thad Cochran emerged briefly from his mid-day nap today to endorse Bush. Senator Cochran appreciates the Bush family dynasty tradition of massive debt fueled deficit spending and emphasized to all of his black Democrat supporters that together with a President Jeb Bush they'll continue to provide free clinics, expand SNAP benefits and throw crumbs to America's HBCUs.

(Note To All Cochran Black Democrats: After John Kasich drops out Pete Perry will be shift his support to Jeb Bush. Since the Democratic nominee is a foregone conclusion Senator Cochran encourages you to vote for Jeb Bush. As a small token of his appreciation Thad would like to announce that the Bush campaign has authorized increased vote payments for this 2016 primary election cycle. After the last minute undocumented PACs have been established payment locations and payment dates will be distributed closer to March 8, 2016 via the usual black Democrat back channels. Please get the word out to all your family and friends that the walking around money is on the way!!!

Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and rest assured that the establishment Mississippi GOP always has your best interest$$$ in mind!)

Hey Pete, don't hide behind your mother's apron on this. Mark Tullos lost "fair and square". Right?

Pete Perry said...

No. Mark Tullos did not lose 'fair and square'. It appears he won by five votes. The jury is out on that, but it will be decided in accordance with the state statutes come next month. Then we will all know who won "fair and square" in that election.

And my mother has not been with us for several years now, and I didn't hide behind her while she was here. I put my name with my comments, unlike you.

Looks like Roger Wicker is backing Trump.

Anonymous said...

Well, looks like that went well. Just like nationwide polling shows, Bush has little to no support in Mississippi. What amazes me, somehwhat, is all the elected GOP support for Kasich in Mississippi who is lower in the polls than Bush. As a GOP'er myself, it embarrasses me to see how our established leaders are so out of touch with their base. I suggest they stop lecturing and start listening.

Trump = controlled opposition for Hillary.

By the time the man gets done with this stint, Republican will equate to repulsive. People will beg and pray for Hecate incarnate to be Madame President. Just you watch.

To all you 'informed' prognosticators. Check a little history before you start declaring any of the current candidates winners or losers.

November 2011 - Gingrich passed the previous leader Cain in the last week of the month. Beginning of December, Gingrich with a falling Cain were still leading - Romney in fourth or fifth depending on the poll. (National polls.)

November 2007 - Guiliani knocked out Thompson during the last week, with Huckabee moving into second place during the first part of December.

The only one of these candidates still around by March was Huckabee in 2007, who by his staying on in his locked in third place gave the GOP McCain for their candidate and the country Obama as its President. All the others were out and gone home by the time state by state primaries and caucuses got into full gear.

Don't bet the ranch on your predictions - or on what your Mississippi neighbors and friends think 'should happen'.

Vote for Hilliary 2016

Anonymous said...

Saw where Big Bad Thad endorsed Bush today.

I understand that Bush might think that is his turn, but how can he be so clueless? Millions of conservatives are furious at congress for campaigning against Oboma the past two elections and then wimping out and doing nothing to stop him. That explains why the folks with no political experience are doing so well. The voters want someone to stand up and fight to save the country. People look at Bush and see his Dad and Brother. Nice guys. Somewhat conservative, but mostly middle of the road. Is he going to fight to undo all the damage of the past seven years? So far not many people think so. I think he is wasting his time and other people's money. I think it comes down to Cruz vs Rubio. The folks that Bush is chasing will wind up voting for Rubio. That explains why Bush is attacking him (and looking like a fool doing it).

People are getting tired of these politicians who have never had to work for a living. It is time someone who has not been on the govt. dole all of their life to try their hand. Can't be any worse than what we have had for many years.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
