The stars came out for MCEC when the non-profit organization opened its new digs at 750 North State Street last September. JJ came across this video it shot of the opening ceremony. To say the video is loaded with irony is an understatement.
Nothing of substance was said in the video, just standard praise and congratulations as the beautiful people lauded the launch of a MCEC's new project. Little did they know. ;-)

Anyone there under indictment?
And what’s ironic?
There is a lot of money to be made in government by well connected people. Thankfully I was born to one of the better connected families in the metro.
ahahahahahahahahahahahah...
...ahahahahahahahahahahahahahha
Mississippi is such a shithole. No wonder our kids are leaving.
TANF Party!
"Nothing of substance was said in the video, just standard praise and congratulations as the beautiful people lauded the launch of a MCEC's new project. Little did they know. ;-) "
So true KF.
Just a bunch of nonsensical chatter.
The Whites probably felt warm and fuzzy while eating stale cake at the post video "after party".
I'm willing to bet some of that group hung around all day just as an excuse not to return to their "real jobs".
(That is . . . those that had actual jobs ) .
Is this the "New Direction" Lynn keeps telling all her (former) employees about?
Glad to see Lynn show up for something.
the leaders of this state are the most self-congratulatory crooks i've ever come across. they have no idea how to govern, but they're damn good at patting themselves on the back and shaking hands (filled with $100s)
these people are all just so deeply mediocre and unimpressive. is this really the best we can do???
Love the way Lynn touts families. She fired two military spouses on Monday. No reason given just "AG Fitch wants to go in a new direction." Military community will not forget.
Will, the guy in the wheelchair is a solid dude. He had no clue about what was happening, his wife worked there as well and they are unemployed. ps: we withdrew our kiddo from NS, they're not getting another dime from us.
Y’all seen the marshal ramsey cartoon... she’s sooooo mad
@4:30p- Wow... I'm not a fan of Fitch, but your anger is sorely misplaced. These employees hold government jobs that they can be removed from without cause. They KNOW that going in. Elected officials regroup their offices after EVERY SINGLE ELECTION IN THIS COUNTRY.
Their spouses' positions in the military have ZERO bearing on their jobs... and they shouldn't. When my spouse worked for the government, I made DAMN SURE I worked for the private sector. I support the military 100%, but your logic is flawed. People need to stop thinking with their emotions and use their brains to process facts.
I literally searched this picture for "stars" for a solid minute before I realized these were just government folks. LOL KF, you had me scratching my head for a minute!
Lynn is no longer in an office that she can smile and wave where it’s rainbows and butterflies... The AG has to actually stand for something and take a few hits, make a little fuss...maybe even bring the hammer and get ugly..she isn’t ready
@4:30 they work at her pleasure. New direction is enough reason. Changing of the guard and changing of the party. They've had how many months since she was elected to pack up their democrat leftist ideology and move on?
When does Nancy New and Zack New go to court?
When does Jess New get arrested?
Supporting military families is a democratic ideology?
Isn’t one of her deputy’s a military spouse?
@4:30
I read the same thing in a military wife list serv I subscribe to. Said one of them was pregnant. Lots of families on the list serv
Democratic ideology? Both the women running criminal were Hilary supporters.
The one who came from US attorneys office spent most of her career working for a democratic political appointee? She was Literally hand picked by Obama appointed US Attorney. Great hire Lynn
" These employees hold government jobs that they can be removed from without cause" .
Yes and no.
I think that only applies to appointed positions.
It's more complicated than the public realizes.
I can't speak about the employees in this video.
On paper, a "non status" state employee can be fired without cause, but in reality it takes an Act of God
to get rid of a "non status" fuck-up.
I know.
I've been there.
After I fired a worthless state employee, I was sued, spent months in court . . . but finally won.
Not too many people are willing to go through with such Bull Shit.
The problem is the State Agency Executive Directors are scared to death of a lawsuit.
This is why it's easier for the good state employees to keep their mouth shut as they know nothing will happen to the worthless state employee.
Actually, it's the exact same reason the three other Minneapolis Police Officers turned a blind eye to the George Floyd incident. That idiot cop had what . . . 16 brutality complaints over the years ?
But nothing happened to him.
The same shit happens in Mississippi State Government.
(Not killing people, but being worthless)
It's hard as Hell to get rid of the bad employees in Mississippi government.
If ties to democrats is a disqulaifer, then interesting choice for Deputy AG. Didn't she leave the southern district when Trump replaced Obama's US Attorney?
@514
Since when is supporting military spouses and LEO spouses " democrat leftist ideology" IF you work for Lynn please identify yourself so she can fire you for questioning the sacrifice these families make to our country every day.
My friend’s wife got fired. She is a pregnant MILITARY SPOUSE. No reason for the firing given
I urge all military families to reconsider supporting Lynn. She is obviously NOT a friend of our military family community.
Thanks for posting this KF. As many other readers have noted, what a bunch of self congratulatory, sub-par, back-slapping thieving idiots!!
The awkward cackling like magpies from the audience is a sound worse than finger nails on a chalk board. We need real leadership with vision to bring the college students back home. The New’s, the DiBiase’s and the bogus cast of charlatans running around this state need to be locked up (if the allegations are indeed accurate as they sure seems to be). Follow the money and you’ll eventually see the trail lead to you know who!!
5:14
Yeah that’s why everyone in state gov and legal community are talking about the bloodbath at treasury, SOS? No, they are professionals, or have professionals advising them
For those of us suffering from AF (ACRONYM FATIGUE), it would be a blessing to have the actual NAME of whatever is represented by 'MCEC' spelled-out, to save us from having to go to the acronym-decoding websites, and choose from the various listed options.
I don't believe clearing out agency staff with every election was ever considered to be standard procedure. If that were the case, there would have been no way for an agency to build expertise in its staff, which has long been recognized by the courts as a primary purpose of the quasi-legislative, administrative system.
The rank and file staff should therefore be treated as non-political positions, in my opinion. Agencies were never intended to become little kingdoms, which is a danger inherent to that system.
Furthermore, I don't believe winning an election should be treated like winning the lottery. Public office is a position held in trust for the public. Doling out governments positions to friends and family members of the "winner" is, to a large degree, what got us where we are now. We continue on this path at our own peril.
If you spread all the money the News handled out to the 2.9 mil population of Mississippi, everybody would have 1 MILLIONS each!!!
" Lynn is no longer in an office that she can smile and wave where it’s rainbows and butterflies..."
You forgot to mention the unicorn farts.
I'm sorry, I meant to say . . . sweet smelling unicorn "poots".
Was li'l DiBiase there or "in rehab"?
Take a moment, if you will, and look at Chokwe's shoes. Where might a person even BUY something like those shoes? Really! Where? The clown-shoe store?
I don't believe clearing out agency staff with every election was ever considered to be standard procedure ... yada, yada, yada.
Bullshit. To the victor go the spoils. In Mississippi agencies were intended to be managed as little kingdoms by the executive and powerful committee chairs. Lump it or put in the effort to legislatively change it but spare us the other lofty garbage.
514... got news for you... not everyone who worked at the AGs office when Jim Hood was there was a Democrat.... there were a lot of republicans, and good at their jobs. She’s hiring “yes” people PERIOD! She has no one to check her, probably because she can’t handle it.
My friend’s wife got fired. She is a pregnant MILITARY SPOUSE. No reason for the firing given
I urge all military families to reconsider supporting Lynn. She is obviously NOT a friend of our military family community.

Now wait a second. I’m no fan of hers but how can you honestly say she’s no friend of the military just because you’re friend got fired. Do you realize how dumb that sounds?
5:14 PM here.
Why don't you crybabies and anonymous slanderers go tell your "heroes" to just run against Lynn in the next election and see how well they can do.
That's how it works in the real world. What is on display here is just cowards and crybabies.
The only time you need a "new direction" is if you are in the same hallway with the criminal deputy

514/838... classic move. No substance so you resort to attack. Stay classy
8:00 p.m., Administrative agencies are creatures of statute, and may only exercise the powers delegated to them by the legislature. In other words, they exercise legislative power, not executive power. This is our constitutional system of government, not "lofty garbage" to be perverted and twisted by Machiavellian cretins who lust for power.
-6:57 p.m.
Whut? No Deppity Pheel in the video?
FYI, the “spoils system” of government patronage was outlawed in 1883 by the Pendleton Act. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoils_system
I see Sara Williams, political fundraiser, standing in the rear. I'd heard the MCEC board's chairman got her a gig with the outfit. Apparently they had a board of directors. Does anybody know who all was on that board?
Philbilly‘s wife Debra is front and center standing next to Lynn F.
I worked at DHS for many years and was conveniently fired by John Davis and his minion Jacob Black. You all and the general reporting are mistaken in how DHS and other agency money flows. These non-profits (MCEC, FRC, etc.) are awarded funds, but they do not receive all of the awarded funds in lump sum in many instances. They have to submit requests to draw down these funds from DHS after the award. All of the programs and services provided by these non-profits are pre-approved (generally) and funded on a case-by-case basis. The non-profits are not sitting on piles of cash (we monitored and reviewed them all every year) but instead they make requests for draws for a particular program or service and DHS provides the funding at that time. Everyone wants to point the finger at the News, MCEC, FRC, etc., but this entire situation is in my opinion on DHS. DHS wants to blame it all on John Davis, but Jacob Black, Chip Butler, David Barton and others were all involved in the approval and review process process, in addition to DHS lawyers like Andrea Sanders, Hadley Eisenberger and Earl Scales. The entire situation is a mess, but primary responsibility should be directed in the right direction.
Most senior staff positions at state agencies are “will and pleasure ». That definition should be easy to understand. I once held such a position and when a new executive director came aboard he told me my services were no longer needed. No crying, no whining, no kicking your feet as you knew it could happen when you accepted the position. Now the agency did suffer after I left and went through a handful of people in a short period of time due to incompetent political friends of the director replacing me but it is what it is.
Im not saying that I was perfect at the job just talking about the turnover after I was relieved of my position.
Irony is that his sorry ass got fired not to long after because he’s a lying douche.
Now state employees that have property rights to their job are very difficult to fire and if you attempt to do it you will end up getting behind in your regular duties because there are only so many hours in the day.
Love the Lynn defenders. So out of touch, I spent the whole week at the Capitol. Literally the conversation is the chaos at Sillers and the most unprofessional transition in recent memory.
Watch your IP addresses Lynn defenders, she is wasting state money and time tracking down commenters.
What a shitty, classless thing to say. Criticizing someone because you don't believe they are qualified to handle the position to which they are hired is fair game (though I don't believe it applies to this person), but weight jokes? That's pathetic.

@7:05 PM A million times a million is a trillion. You might want to rethink your decimal place.
How can someone accuse lawyers of being in any way responsible for anything which has been alleged to have happened at DHS?
7:05 Please get a calculator (there's one on your cell phone) and multiply 2.9 million by 1 million
To help you put in:
2900000 x 1000000
I'm thinking the short cut would be too hard for you.
Once you are finished, tell us how much that would be.
Sorry, when you fire 40 people without providing a reason, you sort of open yourself up to be hated by everyone around you. As they say, “if you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen” (though I don't believe it applies to this person)

Funny you read it that way. Says a lot
Jackson Free Press between Lynn and Deborah. All sides were bamboozled by these criminals.
"Watch your IP addresses Lynn defenders, she is wasting state money and time tracking down commenters."
We knew she was a Nazi.
I spent 10 min on the SOS website and can find at least $5,000 in donations from the News to Lynn. Did I miss the press conference where Lynn stated she was giving the money back?
Other nuggets on the SOS website, the kid running legislation gave Lynn $1,000. I only gave $500 (which I want back) and was fired this month. So for $500 more dollars and no experience, I could have had a division instead of a pink slip. Cool what you can find when you have free time to research.
@6:57 - there is a large chasm between the 'rank and file' employees of state government and professional positions such as "attorney" - or any of the other 'will and pleasure' positions.
When you accept such a position, you should know that today might be your last payday - for whatever or any reason.
Not trying to defend the staffing moves of AG Fitch - but she is taking over an office that has been philosophically run in an entirely different direction than what she was elected to do (although there were plenty of detractors that felt that she would continue the same philosophy based on her history.)
Any attorney in the AG's office was hired with the understanding that they could be 'replaced' at any time, for any reason, including "going in a different direction".
@7:05 -- go back to your middle school math class that you evidently skipped.
@ 10:32 -- ovbviously you slept through any civics class that your teachers tried to teach you. Administrative agencies are created by statute, but those that you are referring to are not "legislative power", they are "executive branch" agencies and operate as such.
The legislature creates, and appropriates; but the executive branch executes.
@7:41
Yeah, we get it. She can, blah blah blah. It would be one thing if she was replacing them with competent experienced lawyers. Instead, she is replacing years of experience with baby lawyers supervised by career law clerks who have no actual experience. The ones she did bring who have experience are trying to get out. I am an attorney at another agency that employs a lot of attorneys and I am getting resumes from her top people.
Yeah, the attorney running criminal has practiced about as much law as Lynn has, which is none.
8:08 pretty much nails it. The top law enforcement agency for the State is now being operated by law clerks who haven't actually practiced a day in their lives. Speaking of experience, has anyone seen Kim Turner lately? She left a pretty good job to be opinions director. Is she already out too?
Already know for a fact one from the top is leaving; for a lower paying gig too. The dominos will begin to fall in 3.... 2.....
Amateur hour at the AGO
7:41, I find it very hard to believe that attorneys took jobs at the AG's office expecting to have zero job security.
Based on the combative, extremely disagreeable and otherwise toxic tone of the comments posted in defense of General Fitch, I thank God I'm in private practice.
If Lynn, or her little weasel who doesn’t know he isn’t an attorney, had done this right, she could have had departures leaving with some loyalty; instead, they were smug little jerks. I hope everyone lands somewhere where they can mess with Lynn with every interaction. I for one intend to make every interaction with her inexperienced law clerks and baby lawyers as difficult as possible
11:50 - While you may find it hard to believe, it's a fact that NO agency attorney, has job security if the hiring authority wants them pink-slipped on any given afternoon at 3:15. All it takes is a handshake (optional) and a cardboard box.
There are some serious sour grapes on here. Most Americans will get fired at least once in their lifetime for little or no reason, its the employer’s right. Happens everyday. When one door closes another always opens. Your comments say more about you than they do about Fitch.
Yeah serious sour grapes. You people put way too much emphasis on trivialities such as planning a future, vesting in retirement, and feeding your families. Am I right?
Following up on 12:35, there would never have been a reason to set up a Public Employees Retirement System if the reasonable expectation was for public employees to have no job security. Some people have apparently rationalized themselves all the way to crazy town . . . or maybe that's where they started.
@ 10:59
I hope such rationalizations help you sleep in your bariatric bed at night
When I originally read this thread I assumed "military family" or "military wife" meant that the AG fired someone whose husband was deployed overseas.
Turns out that these posters really mean, at least in one instance, someone whose spouse is in the reserves was let go. Are we taking the position that the spouse of any military member, whether active/reserve/deployed/discharged, can never be terminate, without regard for their job performance?
@ 10:15
Both are combat veterans. Keep digging, here is an Etool
Thanks, 10:42, but I do not need to dig.
I take it your position is the spouse of a combat veteran should never be let go no matter their job performance?
10:15
The fact that you took the time to inquire and report back says 2 things, you work for Lynn, and you have too much time on your hands. You need a hobby, I suggest diet and exercise.
The comment of someone who has never served. SMH
10:57
I don’t know who either of these families are, or details about how good or bad they were at the job, but you are not going to do your boss or favorite politician or whatever any favors by trying to reason yourself down the firing military family rabbit hole. The damage is done. Just let it die.
@10:15
Does this sound better?
