That one dude looks like Riff Raff. Been had dat. He should buy the middle of the mall that's for sale.
This looks like something from the movie Death Wish. Low-level punks running amok. The shooting at Midway sounds cartel-related, aka South of the Border Bad Hombres. The truck is a dead giveaway.
Madison county had been spiraling down unreported for a while. I hope they don’t think Costco will turn things around.
"Intentional shooting?" WTF kind of a statement is that? The chief has a firm grasp on the obvious!
Build the wall, but this time along the Trace. The "front lines" are slowly moving northward. Bring in the heavy artillery and gun ships. Apaches and A-10s can do the job.
Triple the police force and put undercover cops EVERYWHERE !
The cancer is spreading.
appreciate his finger off the trigger till ready to shoot.
Looks like the guy in the video "It's ma'am!"
To the cartel expert at 8:48; I have a white 4-door pickup - does that make me a cartel member? I sure hope you're not in law enforcement...
At some point folks will have to recognize that moving 10 miles up the road is not a long term solution to crime. Its good for builders, but that's about it.
11:09 AM
You care to share your better ideas? They aren't afraid pf cops or prison. And we are no longer allowed to do what used to scare them into civil obedience. So please do enlighten us with your solutions.
11:09....haha, and we keep spending tens of millions every decade to widen I-55 to accommodate the "growth" every step of the way. People might stop doing that if the feds and the state quit enabling the sprawl.
At some point folks will have to recognize that moving 10 miles up the road is not a long term solution to crime.
Tell that to the middle class black community in Jackson because that is the demographic which represents the vast majority of citizens migrating out of the Capital City crap hole.
Willing to trade my cul de sac home for subpar H2O. Too much overhead.
And we are no longer allowed to do what used to scare them into civil obedience.
what you were allowed to do!? Please provide more details on what you were ALLOWED to do
Then why don't you go over to Virden Addition and provide us an example?
@11:09, I don't pretend to know the solution, I only know that after 50 years of suburban migration, what we are doing isn't working. Unfortunately, I don't think that a 50 year old problem can be fixed in a year or two.
@12:40
The noose was a prime modivator for civil obedience and it was used most effectively.
A prime example would be those cattle rustlers in Forest. They would've been hanged 100 years ago. Same went for horse thievery.
As for Virden Addition, I have no idea what that is so I cant speak to that part of your comment.
Well, the incident in Ridgeland was like 99% of the other shootings in the metro area - a personal problem between the victim and the assailants.
Hell, everyone around this wild west metropolis runs around with an AK-47 or Colt .45 in their back pocket anyway - so what are you scared of to begin with?
All this "growth" is a misnomer. Take away all the stupid money the feds and MDOT have thrown north and east and all of this migration would not have happened. But the ones doing the migrating are also the ones doing the campaign contributions. So we have 8 lane highways going through abandoned areas of our capitol city. Seriously, why are state tax payers paying for multiple new interchanges in Madison County? The people who moved there should be paying for this. All those people you are coddling will be moving down the road in a few years. Again.
I wish Jackson, Pearl, Clinton and Ridgeland would come together to fight crime in Jackson. Because if you can clean up Jackson it will definitely help out the surrounding cities. We all have to be willing to work together and help each other out...
10:39 - Please continue. What's your plan for how that could possibly be accomplished? And don't say 'work together'. That's not a plan.
Single parent homes and drugs are the problem and the 10:39 poster is correct. The surrounding areas can do more to stop the crime spreading out. Jackson PD and the judicial system can’t contain it. But, you will NEVER change the democratic culture.
@10:39
The cities you mentioned in Rankin County do help Jackson. When Citizens of Jackson attempt to use their 5 finger discount here, our LEO'S chase them all the way back, arrest them, and then prosecute them in a court that gives no blessings.
"The surrounding areas can do more to stop the crime spreading out."June 20, 2019 at 4:30 AM
Please, by all means continue. What the hell can the surrounding areas do to stop crime from spreading out of Jackson? Water runs down-hill. So does sewage. Other than moaning about it and being armed, what can be done? We all want to know your solution. Let us know...and soon. Thanks
The RPD chief studdered and stammered during a presser. I was waiting on the edge of my chair for him to parrot: "It's only the perception of violent crime in Ridgeland."
But alas, he didn't go down that rabbit hole.
If you think the Ridgeland PoPo Chief stammered, when was the last time you heard the Madison chief stand in front of a microphone? Thirty years on the job and Mary has never let him say a word.
