Sean and Leigh Ann Touhy denied they took advantage of former NFL star Michael Oher in a response filed in the Probate Court of Shelby County, Tennessee yesterday.
The Tuohys, Oher, and his birth mother established a conservatorship in 2004 when Oher was 18. The former Ole Miss football star accused the couple of tricking him into agreeing to a conservatorship when he thought he was being adopted. Oher petitioned the Probate Court of Shelby County to terminate the conservatorship last week. The former Ole Miss football star accused the couple of tricking him into agreeing to a conservatorship when he thought he was being adopted.
Oher claims no one told him the Touhy's would have "ultimate control" over his contracts. He accuses the Tuohys of falsely presenting themselves as his adoptive parents. They allegedly used the lie to enrich themselves. Indeed the movie and associated websites refer to the Tuohys as his adoptive parents. The backside of the DVD case refers to him as their "son."
Oher enrolled at Ole Miss in 2005 and played football, earning Freshman All-American honors on the gridiron. Michael Lewis published a book based upon Oher's life, The Blind Side: Evolution of the Game, in September 2006. He played several years in the NFL before concussions forced him out of football.
The response is posted below. The response is merely a regurgitation of what the Tuohys' attorneys said at an August press conference. Some key excerpts of the response are:
The Tuohys also said they never filed accountings for the conservatorship because there were never any assets. Attorneys Randall Fishman and Steve Farese represent the Tuohys.

All parties to this crap show should be ashamed to have it discussed in public. The Touhys have shown they would do damn near anything to recruit a big stud for Ole Miss football even professing "love". I wonder how much they would have "loved" him if he were not a top football recruit? And Oher wants to convince people he is an intelligent person but was stupid enough to be tricked by these millionaire hustlers even after he became a pro football player. Justice would be for both to lose the lawsuit.
So the Touhy family filed a response admitting they were lying pieces of crap. Because they repeatedly and consistently told folks that they adopted Oher.
@5:27 PM, what you just posted is libelous. Yes, the people you mention are vortex public figures, but you better be prepared to prove what you just claimed. I'm guessing you can expect a summons and complaint pretty soon from a really aggressive lawyer.
If the court didn't excuse an accounting, an accounting is required by Tennessee statute.
Bill Dees, I mean I guess anyone can be aggressive. You could also be brought into the receiving end of someone that is aggressive. Probably not a lawyer and probably don’t give a shit.
Nearly every post on here could be considered libelous, by someone.

I read some dumb comments on this forum, but this ^^^^ is likely the dumbest. Hopefully, it was in jest.
I’ve yet to see any evidence the Touhys did anything causing Oher damage.
RMQ
That was a especially embarrassing time for Shark football.
Bill Dees - not even the most low-down, ambulance chasing, dont give a damn, sue for any reason any time lawyer - would take the case you are trying to make that this was libel.
Come back again when you sober up. Or drop the bong. Or whatever it is that you were on when you made this stupid statement.
This mess is messive enough without your trying to interject your legal opinions that are unrelated. Try again on KF's next post about Rainman or something where you might be releveant
I think it’s clear from his comment that Bill Dees is smoking crack. I expect a summons from his attorney any day now.
Awe well what the hell did I do now?! ;)
Ole Miss was so shook up by By Mike and his laughable allegations that they beat a Georgia team by 25.
And the other coach was mad and accused UM of running up the score.
How does one go about adopting an 18 year old man? Asking for a friend.
I reckon it's libelous to suggest Bill Dees has been in possession of paraphernalia. Be prepared to prove that! Dees isn't a lawyer but often plays one on this blog.
Two things:
1) Bill Dees smokes Meth.
2) The case will first be about proving misrepresentation, then determining
correlation (or not) of damages.
Reason# 1,972,864 of why you nitwits should grow up and stop worshiping sportsball and the idiots who “play” it.
Amen, 7:39. Ole Miss didn’t win yesterday; the ringers and mercenaries Ole Miss hired beat the ones that Georgia Tech hired. It takes quite an imagination to think teams nowadays represent the school whose name is on their uniform.
In MS, statements made in court pleadings cannot be the basis for a libel claim.
Would that Solomon could be assigned this case and really split the babies this time. Just more proof that foo’paw is a disease.
I think Bill is an expert on slander at this point . Especially after a few weeks ago.
I still don't know who 'Bill Dees' is. But I've been hearing the name for years and years, so assume he must be pretty old.
As for what he's "on", I'd like to point out that "The Power O' Dibeedus" can produce statements of the calibre of his 5:53PM post. Once the docs get you on the Statins and the blood pressure meds, and after a decade or two of following the diet enshrined in the 'Food Pyramid', a person won't need any meth or crack or booze, to be "like that".
It's said that "Dementia is Type 3 Diabetes". ...not that I'm sayin' anyone under discussion here has Diabetes or Dementia, mind you. Just a random passing thought, about nobody-in-particular...
I am certain that a self serving, opportunist lawyer who saw the chance to cash in on this otherwise sweet story, is at the bottom of this controversy. Lawyers (the opportunistic ones which are a large presence in the Bar) are seeking business because there are so many of them that they have to create controversy to lived up to their desired life style!!

I think kingfish allows these "soy boy" posts (only to increase comments on his blog).
“Dementia is Type 3 Diabetes”, you're playing fast, and loose with the facts, aren't you?

Hey Bill…just how would a lawyer go about finding out…
who said the above…so they could sue him…since the
comment was wrote by an anonymous person??
I’ll hang up and listen…
Tuoys did something decent. Simple fact. Another simple fact: No good deed goes unpunished (in a severely fallen world).
Touhys did something INdecent. This case won't be about money, it will be about deceit and deception so he could play ball in Oxford. Once proven, then it will be about money. Misrepresentation can have some teeth in it.

It's interesting that when quoting, you omitted the beginning of the sentence which, in its entirety, read: It's said that "Dementia is Type 3 Diabetes"..
Are you saying that the above is NOT being SAID? ...because, if it is NOT being said, then why is a Medical Industry mouthpiece going to the trouble of refuting it?
It seems to me, that the FACT being asserted, is that "It is SAID that...". Did you drop in to tell us that this is NOT being SAID? Can you grasp the distinction?
And how is it that, shortly after someone posted the words to which you're reacting, you appeared to administer that little slap-down? I think that it would be of interest to your bosses, that you inserted a comma in a very awkward spot. Personally, I'd dock you for that sloppy error.
