Once upon a time, New Orleans once had bull fights. Actually, Algiers had bull fights but who is keeping track of trivial things such as boundaries.

A northern newspaper criticized the immorality of New Orleans for allowing such spectacles to take place but the Times-Picayune was quick to defend the Crescent City's honor.

It is human nature to fight animals. Nintendo has a hundred billion yen franchise called Pokémon which is literally about capturing creatures and making them fight each other.
I attended a bullfight in Spain before they were outlawed. What a gory spectacle! After the matador thrust his sword into the bull's neck, it dropped to its front knees and gorged blood as if from a fire hydrant. The drama of the matador challenging the null to charge was exciting but the conclusion was rather nauseating.
Algiers is in New Orleans, even though the neighborhood is on the West Bank.

Bull fights are so passé. We're so much more civilized now with our gangs and their pit bulls.
The writing and prose of past writers is very evident in papers and Journals of old. Writing nowadays is drabe.
Many people forget Louisiana was a Spanish colony. The French Quarter is actually Spanish and Spanish architecture. Louisiana was ruled by Spain from 1763-1803.
