Rankin-Madison District Attorney John "Bubba" Bramlett issued the following statement yesterday.
Rankin-Madison District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Samuel Lamar Taylor, 52, was convicted by a Rankin County jury on September 20, 2023, of one count of sexual battery and one count of gratification of lust. Taylor served as a music teacher for over 25 years at schools across Mississippi, retiring from Richland Upper Elementary School in 2020. Taylor was also a minister at several churches throughout Rankin County, dating back to the 1980s. Judge Dewey Arthur will sentence Taylor on November 13, 2023. Taylor faces life imprisonment for the sexual battery and a maximum sentence of 15 years for the gratification of lust. Any sentence will be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release. On August 23, 2022, the Richland Police Department received a call from Richland Upper Elementary School concerning an 11-year-old autistic child disclosing sexual abuse to his Region 8 counselor. The child identified Taylor, his legal guardian at the time, and gave specific details regarding different instances of abuse perpetrated by Taylor at his home in Richland. Due to the quick actions of Region 8, Richland Upper Elementary School, and Richland PD, the child was immediately removed from Taylor’s custody, and a forensic interview was conducted with the child the next day. During his interview, the child recounted, in detail, the sexual abuse he endured from Taylor from 2020-2022. During the investigation, authorities located and interviewed at least one other victim who alleged Taylor abused him from 1990-91 when Taylor worked as a counselor at the YMCA on Flowers Dr. in Jackson.
“I want to commend the faculty and staff at Richland Upper Elementary School, the Community Support Specialist with Region 8, the Parker Children’s Center, and the Richland Police Department,” stated District Attorney Bramlett. “Because of this brave child victim and each of these agencies, Sam Taylor’s 30-year-old secret was finally brought to light. While these acts are ones no person should ever endure, especially a child, we hope this conviction brings closure to the victim, his family, and any other victim Taylor’s actions affected.”

Justice will be served in prison, and I'm not talking about time served. He won't make it very long I bet.
“He won't make it very long I bet.”, he has lived too long as it is. I have no mercy for these predators.
This guy will know why the caged bird sings.
Madison and Rankin Counties get their alleged criminals to trial in less than a year. Hinds County 3 to never! It’s something wrong with that painted picture.
Now if you need more help, the Legislature tried to give it to you! But naw you all want certain color elected judges to give Justice in Hinds County.
Hinds County stop making excuses. Get the people in place and get that machine going. Ain’t that’s one of y’all election promises?
RSS legacy continues in Hinds County
Can’t wait till next election. Same ole same ole!
Y’all won’t even remember his name tomorrow and he will be playing piano for tips at fancy restaurant in some liberal city in a few. years.

I’m guessing this guy has the queerest little southern accent too!
Just because someone appoints themself as a "minister" doesn't mean that you should automatically trust your children with them, especially "youth" ministers.
I hope MS has no statute of limitations for sex crimes against children because this animal likely has a long history of victims.
I always just assume the most vocal internet tough-guys in these threads are actually virtue signaling predators themselves.
I’m oddly fascinated by whatever mental illness drives a person to be an anonymous internet tough-guy.
September 22, 2023 at 11:27 AM, so, you are hearing voices when you read these posts?
@11:27 AM - What drove you? Do tell.

You've reminded me of a funny moment from Schitt's Creek, when two people are going to interview for the same Flight Attendant job:
"I believe you should dress for the job you're going for!"
"And what job is that? ...YOUTH MINISTER?"
(The guy was wearing jeans with a starched buttondown shirt - a combo I personally find creepy. But then, I also find youth ministers creepy.)
This makes me physically ill. He drove the after school pickup van bus for a daycare Timberlawn Elementary students went to. I did the duty of putting students on his van. My heart is so saddened.
I think this guy should get everything he deserves, and then some. That being said, I find it interesting that pedophilia is sort of one of the crimes du décennie. Again, I think this guy should rot in jail, but I'm perplexed at why society attacks certain crimes with ferocity, yet doesn't get similarly riled up by equally heinous crimes, like murder, rape, torture, etc.?
Bubba said "Taylor faces life imprisonment for the sexual battery and a maximum sentence of 15 years for the gratification of lust. Any sentence will be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release." Get that? Any sentence will be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release. So why do we see the perpetrators of so many just awful crimes get released in sometimes shockingly short periods of time? Why does society decide to let so many people "slide?" Bad crime = a LOT of time in jail! Seems simple to me.
I’m not convinced Sam Taylor did this. Just because convicted not necessarily guilty. Hope he appeals.
I see momma Taylor has joined the discussion.

Not always, by any means. But imagine the coincidental parallels.
So, Kingfish publishes this post but denies mine which expanded the list by a few.
