The good guys won a round. The following post appeared on Facebook last weekend:
A day or so ago I got a call from a good friend who said that he had some guys from Hinds County attempting to steal his side by side by passing a confirmed counterfeit bank check. I asked him if he would work with law enforcement to catch these criminals, he said yes. I then called Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones and asked him to call my friend, he did, and plan was put into motion to lay a trap for the criminals. Here is a statement I received today from Sheriff Tyree Jones.“On the 8th day of September 2023. Hinds County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Divison conducted an undercover operation, in Hinds County at Battlefield Park. This operation was in regards to, what we believe is part of a criminal organization passing fake bank cashier checks to individuals on social media selling ATV's , Vehicles and anything else of monetary value. This operation involved 4 male suspects making a transaction to Investigators for a 2015 Polaris Razor 900. The counterfeit cashiers check was in the amount of 8,500 U.S. Currency. “
“Once Investigators executed the arrest on one male suspect. A white Honda Accord fled the scene with the other 3 male suspects. Investigators quickly apprehended the others at McDowell Road and I-55 after a brief pursuit. No injuries occurred and 1 male is charged with Uttering Forgery, one male is charged with Felony Fleeing and 3 of the males will be charged with Accessory to Uttering Forgery.”Thanks Sheriff for your hard work and dedication.
JJ verified the post. Good job, guys.

Well if you are trying to sell a 4 wheeler and 4 dudes pull up at battlefield park in a CAR
then there is your first clue to lean on the gas and re-list your item
Good job and no one hurt.
Then again, sure they'll walk, or at the least escape, being in Hinds County.
Why wouldn't 3 be charged with felony fleeing?
Basic everyday police work is now worthy of a press release. Times have changed.
Caning needs to be adopted as a form of punishment.
Friends don't let friends use Fakebook Marketplace, unless of course you want them to be robbed or worse.
Blessings in 3, 2, 1...
Last week I was billed nearly $3,000 for a CSpire account I never ordered nor received. I emailed and phoned all relevant departments to deny the account and the debt. They demanded I send a copy of my DL, which I refused. Instead, I wrote letters to State AGs, BBB and collection agency. Yesterday, the head of their revenue and collections department called me to say they cancelled the fake account and fake debt.
I remember when I was doing a bit of trading and selling on armslist. I flatly refused to do business with anyone who wouldn’t meet me at the courthouse parking lot in Brandon.
I've bought plenty of items on FB marketplace and CL. Simple solution. Meet at the police or Sheriff's parking lot. If party won't agree to it, cancel.
Jones is a good sheriff.
@7:45 PM - especially during an election cycle.
If you've agreed to pay $400 for a new wheelchair, you meet the seller at the sheriff's office and he's in a white car with a Baptist Medical Center logo on the door, something ain't right.
Agree with @2:48 PM, adding that the caning must be done by a Sikh convenience store owner while the miscreant is required to repeatedly recite, “What I do? Man, I ain’t even do nothing.”
