Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Friday, September 8, Rankin County deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General on Highway 469 South for a report of an armed robbery. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with employees who described the suspect as a black male with black pants, a black hoodie, blue gloves, and a mask. The worker also said the individual was armed with a semi-automatic pistol.
Deputies were able to review video footage and confirm the description. Deputies spoke to a nearby resident who saw a white Honda Accord in their driveway and was able to get a picture of the tag. A BOLO was issued to surrounding law enforcement agencies and shortly after Clinton PD located the individuals driving westbound on Interstate 20. The individuals were taken into custody and returned to Rankin County. A search of the vehicle produced the gun used in the robbery as well as the cash that was taken from the store.
The suspects, later identified as DEANTHONY SMITH and KAYLEN PEEL, have been booked into the Rankin County jail and charged with armed robbery. Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett will bring both suspects before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow for an initial appearance. A special thanks to Clinton PD for their assistance and quick work in apprehending these individuals.

Crime don’t pay, bitches!!! :)
Good work, Law Enforcement! And good team work!!
Why the hell is Bryan Bailey issuing press releases when he should have already resigned?
I guess he is without a single shred of honor and dignity.
What an absolute disgrace he is to Rankin County!
Please note how the screen image says RCSO for Rankin County Sheriffs Office instead of RCSD for Rankin County School District.
A case study for how it should work for Jackson and Hinds County.
A Rhodes Scholar no doubt!
The real credit goes to the man who saw the Honda in his driveway and took a photo of the tag. Otherwise, I wonder if there would ever have been an arrest.
Why is RSCO and RCSD so important when it is videoing a thief?
What is missing is that these two rocket surgeons are from Vicksburg, which is where they were likely heading.
They obviously don't follow the news nor this blog, otherwise they would know that they should rob in Jackson where there are judicial blessings (at least for certain people, wink, wink), not Rankin Co.
Take note of anyone wearing a hoodie during the summer, as they are fixin' to rob someone.
They slipped through the fingers of JPD. Maybe their boys in blue were too busy guarding Chowke and Rukia.
Well done, by both Mrs. Kravitz and LEO. "If you see something, say something."
If more people would follow this -- like, for example, many of the inhabitants of the more crime ridden sections of Jackson -- there would be more criminals off the streets, and perhaps more of a deterrent to the next wave of recruits.
Goon Squad must have been off duty.
'A semi-auto pistol' you say. Good eye for a cashier. Why didn't she pull one out of her Brawzeer and pop him?
9:36 you right I take pictures and take notes of anything suspicious. And I never forget Glory my pistola! Cause if you look like you are going to harm me you will be leaving this earth!
Glad no one was hurt.
A crazy bastard with a gun and nothing to lose is very dangerous.
And, the crazy bastard robbed a $ General where he may have walked out
with what $700-$800??
Good grief, why bother robbing a place for that small amount of $?
