Had he been in jail like he was supposed to be then the woman never would have been raped.

As a resident of NE Jackson it’s sad to say our best hope is these thugs get arrested outside the city. A neighbor of mine is a well known lawyer n metro area and he told me this a year ago. I guess this is what he meant

More phenomenal JJ reporting while the leftist Democrat media, WAPT as just one example, shifts the blame for crimes such as homicide to “weak gun laws,” in spite of the clear evidence that the vast, vast, vast majority of crimes, especially homicides with guns, are in Democrat controlled cities that LOVE lawlessness, while the number of guns per household is almost certainly much, much higher in neighboring cities NOT controlled by Democrats.

Democrats use crime, CATCH and RELEASE and chaos as tactics to keep people from moving into their cities that would vote them out of office. If the crime rates in Jackson, MS were equal to their Republican controlled neighbor cities, property values would soar and the Chokwe’s of America would have to get a real job because their asses would get voted out of office.

The saddest and most unbelievable thing is even the young innocent children being killed by stray bullets, or even murdered in these Democrat controlled high crime hell hole cities, doesn’t get any attention from rich Democrats, especially the rich white Democrats, that take their sorry asses home to their safe houses in safe neighborhoods.

And many rich white Democrats are so hypocritical that they move into gated subdivisions outside of cities controlled by their party, but instead live in Republican controlled cities and counties like Madison and Rankin. Pathetic, and Shameless!

So this criminal is a Byram resident, the crime was in Byram. It is in Hinds County. So is Clinton.
Canton is in Madison County as is the courthouse, but somehow, Madison, the city, isn't blamed for crimes in Canton nor is Madison's mayor. Madison's mayor isn't blamed for problems in the Madison County justice system. Nor are the crimes and criminals in the whole of Madison County blamed on all the citizens of Madison.
Mississippi had the 8th highest crime rate in the Nation. Pascagoula's crime rate for violent crimes jumped up 76%. Jackson's property crime rate declined.
The single strongest predictor of crime is the poverty rate. Madison's white collar criminals are not noted with alarm. One city, Jackson, alone, doesn't keep us high nationally. And,it's rare that Jackson's violent crime happens outside of 6 designated areas, none of which are downtown or in the most affluent areas Jackson and all of which are "poor". Indeed, if those were rated only on per capita of their neighborhood area, our crime rate would be good indeed. Also, in some stats, the " metro area" is counted.
If we as a State want to improve including in prosperity, we all have to work together to solve common problems. And constructive solutions are more useful that the negativity that paints all of Mississippi in the minds of others.

What’s misleading about this? I live in Jackson and people need to know the truth and that is our DA sucks and criminals only seem to run free in city of Jackson as opposed to the surrounding areas. However I do support JPD, capital police and our sheriff. Prob is in the court rooms.

Actually, fatherless homes is the biggest predictor and indicator of crime. Of course, you forget to mention that part. No surprise. Neither does the Mayor when he claims to discuss root causes.

As to the poster who suggests we all need to work together to solve this problem, pray tell what the hell most of us can do about absent fathers in Jackson, poor mothers raising (without supervision or the skills of parenting) future criminals who are less than a decade away from committing felonies including murder, or a castrated JPD.

Yes, what I want to hear from the 'we are all in it together' crowd, just what they hell they recommend. Oh, besides more money and other free stuff. Perhaps Rukia would like about 20 more million dollar grants to form study groups, provide weekly neighborhood meetings (with food of course) and establish roving groups of grief counselors.

I'm familiar with the location in Byram where this happened. It's isolated but many people jog along the road there. I hope the victim is okay and that the rapist rots in jail.

If someone breaks into a house, especially a vacant house, why waste an hour or two reporting it to the JPD when nothing is ever done. No fingerprints, neighbors interviewed, or whatever investigating techniques are amazingly used in other communities but never in Jackson. We have learned that it must be our own fault for forgetting to lock doors or not having a viscous attack dog or leaving the house to buy groceries.

A year and a half ago this guy was arrested by JPD for armed robbery and aggravated assault. He still has not been indicted.

It seems to me that somehow the municipal court system failed to present this guy for an initial appearance, JPD failed to transmit the file, or the DA sat on it, or some combination of the foregoing.

Where's the breakdown? If we're going to find out, it will likely be from KF's reporting. I don't foresee anyone else digging into this, except maybe a plaintiff's attorney for the second victim.

It is not unique to Jackson, but has become a common characteristic of those metro areas where it has been decided that posting high bail and incarceration are somehow racist due to the "poverty trap".

What "we" have to do is put them away for a long, long time. The laws are already there, and the processes are already there, but the actions are lacking commitment.

And these crimes are similar; they both have the same M.O. (go ahead and google because you probably don't know what that means). The perp snuck up behind the victim and cold-cocked them in the head from behind. The first time, he was dumb enough to pick a grown man. This time, he picked a feather weight 64 year old woman in a secluded area. Knocked her down and literally beat her head and face until she was senseless... they said she's lucky to be alive. He's a fucking coward who wants to be a predator. He should never be free again. When someone like you wants to give him another chance, understand it may be your family rather than someone else's who pays the price for that mistake. Is it worth it?
