Wow

The reaction to a news story posted on Facebook yesterday shows all too well how different people can have different reactions to the same thing.  JPD stopped a man yesterday on Lakeland Drive.  They arrested him after he led them on a foot chase by Bonsai.  He tossed drugs as he ran and was apparently caught with some drugs stuffed into his pants as well.  He also left a small child behind in the car as he fled from the police.  WAPT's Scott Simmons posted his report on his public Facebook page.  The comments got rather interesting as some readers criticized the police while others hammered the suspect.  Check them out for yourself.

Never read the comments

The Jackson Metro area is a conundrum on all things racial. The local news perpetuates stereotypes with the stories they focus on and the sh*t gets stale. It just really wears you down with all the negativity. This place is so depressing! Ugh!

And people wonder why Jackson is a cesspool. Look at the posts.

Only a sheltered white person would be surprised by these comments. If you work with or are around black people from Jackson you'd know a good majority of them are this ignorant. It's really pathetic. I live in a diverse neighborhood in Madison and the black people living here do not act, speak, or live like the people commenting in the news story above.

Think about the child left behind. This is something he will remember for a long time. What he learns from this will depend on the parents. It will make the difference in what he grows up to be. If the parents handle it right he will not be in the same position again when he is older. If it is handled the way most of the facebook posters would handle it he will soon be the one running from the law.
What a thing to happen to a kid. I hope the parents make the right decision.

I would like to thank the woman who took care of the child. That is one good woman.

Build a fence.

8:09 diverse neighborhood in Madison??? Where pray tell is that? Maids in Reunion don't count, and yes I'm from Madison.

In a country where Donald Trump is one of the nominees for president, you are surprised that there are a lot of stupid people out there?

no child deserves to be placed in that situation......if you run, you somewhat just admitted guilt.....and DANG, some people really need to go back and re-take some elementary english classes. Sad to see so many not take more pride in who they are.

I weep for my hometown.

I weep for the English language

Anonymous said...

@9:17, I'm pretty sure that most of the people who commented on the FB post of Scott Simmons are Hillary supporters!

Anonymous said...

Another example of uncertified teachers in JPS. Just by reading or even trying to decipher that language takes a damn interpreter.

9:17, so Voting for Hillary makes you smart? Check out how many people have suddenly had "accidents" who talked against Hillary. In my opinion, which obviously really doesn't count, we are in the worst shape we have ever been in and if we allow another politician to continue the pace then we are gone.

In a country where Shillary Clinton is one of the nominees for president, you are surprised that there are a lot of criminal, stupid people out there?

There are very few rational comments in the the KF gave us. The English language was butchered by nearly everyone.. The overly emotional reactions are disturbing. An arrest was made. There will be a judicial process. I do not know the accused or his family or if those who claim to know him actually do. They could be agitators or insane or belong to ISIS. Those on the Internet may not be who they claim to be. This is much ado about nothing.

I thought people on JJ were aholes because they could stay anonymous, but these news sites where people login with their real identity prove otherwise.

That mentality is the reason we left years ago. It may be worse now than it was then. And people wonder why JPS may lose their accreditation....! The comments are very self explanatory.

Let us know where you live so we can build one 30 feet high around that lovely trailer of yours! We'll even throw in a moat with some gators to make sure you have motivation to stay in that som'itch! We'll schedule air drop off rations and Natty Light too!

Anonymous said...

@ exjxnres

Well we're mighty obliged to you for doing us that favor, what do we owe you?

I came to read the comments on a post about comments. Now that's meta.

And I thought "No Child Left Behind" went out with George W. Bush!

Anonymous said...

No child left behind. These people are back pedaling. Does the blame lay with the schools for making idiots out of people or is it the city they live in. Can't even blame it on something in the water as the water don't run that often.

Anonymous said...

"yo mama. I haven't heard that one since the 70s"

You haven't listened to any city council meetings lately it seems.

Anonymous said...

8:21, can I get in on that fence, moat, and gators? I live outside of Jackson but still too close. I promise not to come to Jackson if you will just follow through on your offer. The rations and Natty Light would be very appreciated.

Hell Jackson roads are almost creating complex moats around the city as it stands.

Anonymous said...

I like what 10:18 said. The roads in Jackson are a disgrace. There is a pothole in Fondren that has a weed growing out of it that soon will be a tree. It is now 4 feet tall. North State, one of the busiest streets in town is now almost unusable because of all the holes. The city is being run so poorly and the schools so poor that it is an embarrassment. To read the comments makes one wonder that with all the money going to schools , if they should be totally overhauled and get rid of teachers that won't or can't teach and administrators that do nothing but draw a fat salary. 152 school districts in Mississippi and 3 million in population. Ridiculous!

Different people have varying opinions. Groundbreaking discovery. And these comments are no different than the screeds posted by the aggrieved Dale Gribbles who post here every day.

9:34 - The blame doesn't lay. It lies.

Yo Momma! said...

Who the hell is Dale Gribbles?

There should be a requirement that a second grade spelling test has to be passed in order to vote.
It's all over...

Read the posts put on facebook. Does anyone have a question why people have left Jackson? If you still have a question you may be one of the posters.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
