Coach Prime did it. Colorado upset heavily favored Texas Christian University today. The bookies downplayed his team, message boards mocked him, and the experts were well, the experts. Through it all, Coach Prime maxed out the transfer portal and brought in a decent coaching staff. The result was a victory over a ranked opponent. The Buffaloes may have a losing record this year but they already showed they are a legit team. Enjoy the short press conference and game highlights posted below.
Oh, his sons played pretty well too.

Never seen a coach turn the question back to the reporter and ask “How you doin, man?” And then proceeded to acknowledge his respect by telling him he’s a legend. I’ve liked Deion since he poured ice on McCarver.
Impressive debut
Deion sanders walks the walk.
Any update on the situation with his leg or foot?
Generally not a football fan but this was a wild creative game with speed, talent, determination and inventive trix on both sides. How did the constantly thrilled fans ever get a chance to sit down?
Teddy Roosevelt, who forced the game to change from original Rugby to prevent so many fatalities on the field (48 dead in 5 years), thus causing introduction of the forward pass, could not have been happier as he watched from Rough Rider/Bull Moose heaven.
Jackson and JSU lost a legend, and I don't blame him for leaving and for living in rural Madison County vs. Jackson. Chowke can't blame his departure on "white flight." Right?
I hope Deion does well and I think he will. They have a pretty good chance to win more than they lose and that is a great step forward for that program.
Amazing what money can buy? Too bad its no longer Colorado Buffalos football but now - like most every other team that uses a college campus's field - a semi-pro team.
Sanders is a clown. He’s the worst thing to happen to college football since Sandusky. All he does is show up, and pay players.
Not a fan.
Coach Prime is the greatest merchant of confidence in coaching today. His whole life has been built around confidence, sometimes arrogance, fueled by his own superior athletic ability. He sold it at JSU and he will sell it at Colorado. His weakness is when he becomes so over-confident that it gets arrogant and he dismisses his opposition. Until that happens it's a fun ride. If he controls it, he and the Buffs will be dangerous.
He might forget where the plane is heading, but he ain't gonna forget to pack the bling.
I really enjoyed watching the game. Colorado was very impressive and so very quick.
It's been a long time since I've seen a team that exuded that much confidence, energy and camaraderie. They seemed to actually enjoy playing the game!
Usually, joy for teams these days seems reserved to a post-game celebration on the field with fans cheering after a win. Before and during the game players look more like they are going to war, not going to "play" and their "commanding officers" look severe before and raging S.O.B.s during the game.
I’m following 5:23. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Someone needs to tell him to just give touches of sincere respect to the opposition.
9:26, you say “All he does is show up, and pay players”. So what, pray tell, makes him any different than any other D1 program in the country in that respect? He knows how to get more out of his paid players than just about anyone else and his paid players are more fun to watch.
You may be turned off by his arrogance, but he gets a pass on that because he can back it up - the only person to play in both a World Series and a Super Bowl, hitting a MLB homerun and scoring an NFL touchdown in the same week, .533 World Series batting average, NFL defensive player of the year, etc.
Lighten up and maybe someone will want to sit by you at the bar.
His son and the kid who plays both ways were fantastic, these guys will play on Sunday. If Deion’s kid is lucky he will make enough to change his name.
Going into football season last year, the host city of his team went a month without water. So Prime left, which pissed some people off.
Going into a losing program the next year, Coach Prime cleaned house, which pissed some people off.
Prime has always been flamboyant, which has always pissed some people off.
His achievements as a player are unquestionable. So far, he's 2/2 in turning around losing football programs, in short order.
Deion Sanders is a case study in not letting people put him in a box. He isn't perfect, but when he speaks I listen.
It ain’t bragging if you can do it.
Dizzy Dean
@11:15...Thanks to the Portal, total lack of discipline and NIL, we are seeing the literal demise of college athletics as we've known it. That may please some folks. But it doesn't please the millions of prior and current fans, supporters, alumni, etc. with the Benjamins.
Sanders' antics and shouting for personal attention, going back 35 years, will only hasten that demise. But, again, a few will love it. The tattoo crowd, those who think a scholarship is a ticket to millionaire-stardom and a few thousand hangers-on.
MRA still beat him and his son 3 seasons ago.
12:38 In case you missed it the whole world "as we've known it" has changed. Things could not remain the same in big time athletics when millions and millions of dollars are lavished on college programs. What do you expect? If it didn't please the current fans, supporters, alumni, etc with the Benjamins why do they keep throwing their Benjamins at these programs? A few? Take a closer look.
12:38, that's petty and sad. Yes, NIL is a curse on the sport, but not Coach Sanders. He has been a needed shot in the arm for fans tired of watching the same old big money schools get the spotlight.
I think 12:38 is mad that the playing field is finally getting leveled with Alabama recruiting. After all, it's always about Alabama.
12:38 - Petty? Bullshit. If you've been a fan for any time at all, you know true fans are way beyond fed-up with childish antics by players...and childish behavior by a coach is beyond the pale.
Every time he appears, the circus is in town. Clowns, daincin' girls and lots of noise and bling. Was a gentleman's sport 40 years ago.
@ 3:08 - I suggest you twist the lens on your viewfinder. Your view is myopic and doesn't extend beyond today and next Saturday. In less than ten years you won't recognize college football...or college football stadiums that will be half full, at best. The sport is destined to disappear.
7:33 You may not like the changes, that's your choice but it's changing whether you like it or not and there is no reason to believe anything that generates so much money will "disappear" in ten years. If stadiums start to empty it will be because of social media and t.v. like everything else. Remote viewing and pay per view will expand. Office buildings are emptying but business is still going on. People work from home. It's change. Sorry to tell you this but it's not the changing sports that will disappear, it's the sports fan who won't accept change who will be vanishing.
Narcissism is a self-centered personality style characterized as having an excessive preoccupation with oneself and one's own needs, often at the expense of others. Deion picture should be in Webster dictionary under Narcissist .. “Where’s MY music?”
Me, Me and more Me! Professional Clown who will be gone in 2 to 3 years max.
TCU defense can’t stop Ned in his grave. Like Lee Corso line goes, “Not so fast my
friends.” The circus can only survive in one town overnight .. once you’ve seen it
you’ve seen enough.
