One of the best boxers ever passed away today. Marvelous Marvin Hagler's wife posted on Facebook:
I am sorry to make a very sad announcement. Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. With love
He had a body built for boxing. His head had an extra muscle. Hagler could fight with either hand - and did. Woe to the boxer who started out fighting a Southpaw only to find himself facing a rightie in the middle of the round. He had the sense to get out of the ring before the inevitable decline. Unlike Ali and others, he never went broke. He took his money and became a movie star in Italy. This guy did it right from start to finish.

Hagler v. Hearns was like Balboa v. Clubber Lang, but real.
This is when boxing really was a sport and fun to watch. With Hagler taking on Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran... that was entertaining stuff. And you knew who Hagler was -- who is middleweight champion now?
Hagler. Hearns. Duran. Leonard.
You can’t name one without the others.
Rest well, legend.
The 80’s were the last decade of when real men could be themselves. Marvelous Marvin was the epitome of that glorious time. RIP Marvin. Please help these modern boys realize what BETA males they’ve all become.
Hagler was a boxer's boxer. He had all the tools and fought with courage and skill. A class act. RIP
Not disagreeing with the above posts, but they all seem to have been posted at the same keyboard.
Now, go ahead and tell the class what he died of.
He died of the Covid vaccine
In honor of the Champ I’m going to re-watch the 1987 Hagler vs. Leonard match
(one of “the most controversial fights in boxing history” with third judge, JoJo Guerra scoring the fight 118-110 Leonard and making a complete fool of himself/costing all future credibility).
The two other judges split with 115-113 each so like Howard Cosell and most of the others in the media that scored it out of whack, JoJo Guerra saw a fight only the biased could see.
Leonard jumped a snake and was smart to retire and skip the rematch with his speech including:
"Talk about money; talkin' Fort Knox.
And this is the only man who can make that possible -- Marvelous Marvin Hagler."
"But, unfortunately, it'll never happen."
Never saw him fight, but great stats...meantime Dr. Jill just added another hashtag on Joe's pocket Covid list.
Rest In Peace, Marvelous. My favorite boxer of all time.
@9:39, the only opponent he couldn’t beat was “the safest vaccine that’s ever been released in our lifetimes”
So the vaccine has taken Hagler, Hammerin Hank, and...?
Major press ignoring
I went to college with a guy named Hardcore Hagler. I wonder if they are related? Hardcore, if you're out there, let us know.
