My husband works downtown at a State Agency that only has a quarter of the bathrooms working in their building. He comes home every day at lunch just to use the bathroom. There are not restaurants open to fo to anyway.
Needless to say everyone is suffering the raw boo boo.
Methinks this continuing situation may be the little Mayor's worst political nightmare.
The ONLY way the state (or the feds, for that matter) should pour money into this hole is with taking control of the system. Jackson has proven, time and time again, that it is unwilling - as well as unable - to properly manage these systems. Applies to both the water and the sewer system - sewer has been operating under a consent decree for some eight years now with absolutely no movement toward 'fixing' the problems, only efforts to renegotiate the decree extending the timeline and reducing the requirements.
Mayor Chock and the seven dwarfs are not willing to step up and take the measures needed to address the problems; would rather blame it on those before them and the lack of outside (money) assistance to pay for their mistakes.
It will eventually boil down to the state having to bail out the city; might as well go ahead and do it now but included in that would be a takeover of the maintenance and operation of the water and sewer departments. Jackson's ability to operate this obviously doesn't exist. This entire fiasco is due to maintenance not being taken over the past few years at the treatment plant and today's 'setback' is more of the same.
Clams, fish, sticks etc have been coming into the plant since its creation a few decades ago, and when the plant is properly operated this trash is removed. Its in the design - and there is absolutely nothing new today that would make trash a problem that doesn't exist 364 other days of the year. The cold weather, ice, and everything else didn't cause today's failures - the inability to maintain the equipment, have the redundant features all operating so that when one fails others take over. No maintenance over the past few years - because our city "leadership" would not provide adequate funding.
Take it over Tate. Don't hand them money for them to squander on their Employment Opportunity contracting methods; their delay; and their waste. Get competent management in place to operate it if you are going to give them any dollars to fix the system.
I've never seen a city in ICU, in critical condition and on life-support. Just go on and pull the plug already.
He presides over a state capitol with a vast majority of residents living among and with their own shit and he sends somebody else to account for it. Antar is the biggest punk bitch there is.
Williams is trying, his boss is a total incompetent flake.
If outhouses and candles were good enough fer Patriots, they ought a be good enough fer us!
Actually, this is NOT a political nightmare for the child-mayor. It fits in well with his agenda to suck the federal teat and beg for grant money from the new administration. And he'll get it. Watch my words. All that's needed now is for Bennie to tell Pelosi and Schumer, "This is my peoples".
Over the years Jackson has been granted more money than any other City in the State. It gets direct funding from the Feds while others have to compete for it. The amount of waste, ripoffs and mismanagement is huge.
There is no way in hell that one cent of state money should go into Jackson until they declare bankruptcy.
Remember when Antar was running for mayor and gave a speech in New York City titled The Big Payback?
I guess this is what he meant.
" Actually, this is NOT a political nightmare for the child-mayor "
While that is a valid point within some of his electoral demographic, after weeks of not being able
to flush the floating 'raw boo boo " . . . I doubt many of his (peoples) really care about which candidate is the most "Black Radical ".
Since the city population and has a lot of vacant properties, there are a lot of miles of water and sewer pipes that are connecting fewer meters. Mostly all underground. I don't know where a figure of $2billion comes from other than the air. They couldn't replace the stinking water meters for 100 million.
Probably a 5-10 billion project, considering the WWTP will need to be fixed too.
Nobody seems to want to blame anything on the extinct volcano underneath the city which is the source of the horrible Yazoo clay. That is a great thing to blame which probably has a lot to do with the problems.
Beyond the paving of a few streets what has Lumumba delivered with regards to accomplishments?
Boomboombalumba has blamed everything else at this point. Blaming the volcano is probably on his list of future evasions.
This is the definition of progress according to progressives. Just an uptick in the water issues.

You are exactly right. I know I would not want Dr. Williams' job for all the money in the world. Talk about a no-win situation. Keep trying Dr. Williams.
And yall wanted to bust on the Hinds BOS? Hinds incompetence is lower single A league compared to Jackson counsil and mayor.
Hate to hear that Dr Williams has now adopted the speaking style of his boss, although considering that Antwar is not willing to come out and face the music, Williams might as well speak like him, while speaking for him.
Right? Right.
That's what is happening. Right?
The State would be crazy to take over the Jackson water system. After the State of Michigan took over the Flint water system, local prosecutors indicted state officials, including the governor, for not doing it right. Our Soros-funded DA in Hinds County would love to have an excuse to indict our white Republican state leaders. Let the feds bail out Jackson, not the state.
The State probably wants to stay out of this shit.
so NOW contractors are being called in over BLOCKED SCREENS? HUH? FOOLISHNESS!!!
