Check out this flyer promoting a Chokwe Lumumba fund-raiser that took place in Harlem last week.

What exactly is the "payback"?

Should be an interesting campaign finance report comin up. Wait, that's right, that law is not enforced at the local level.

With 95% of the elected officials in Jackson and Hinds county being black how much "power is there left to take back? The "power" they want is to fatten their own pocketbooks and those of their cronies. Granted it's not a lot different from many white politicians but it is overt racism.

Antar is the Donna Ladd of the black community - a civil rights poseur who's never actually done a damned thing or taken any real risks. He's riding his daddy's coattails.

Does the title of the event sound like hate speech to anyone else?

Democratic Socialist of America NYC?

Wow. There a surprise.

Let delete the use of the plural form to throw the capitalist off.

Socialism will not work in Jackson. You cannot take from the poor and oppressed and give it the poorer and more oppressed.

WTF is a Jackson Mayoral candidate fundraising in Harlem for? If you cant see this is purely about race, you are blind. This about furthering his and his dads agenda and nothing more. This clown doesn't care about Jackson, he cares about his race and his agenda.

THIS POSTED ON THE EVENT PAGE OF SPONSORS:

This April 7th at 8PM Jackson, Mississippi Mayoral Candidate Chokwe Antar Lumumba will come to the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabaaz Center Center in Harlem, NY.

Antar Lumumba is the son of Chokwe Lumumba Sr. the late mayor of Jackson. Antar Lumumba's mayoral campaign is one of the three pillars of the Malcolm X Grass Roots Movement political program articulated in their famous Jackson Kush Plan.

The JKS Plan stands out as an extremely important piece of our shared struggle for racial justice in America. The plan's balance between protest, economic development and electoral organizing is unparalleled in its holistic path to power.

Antar Lumumba's campaign needs our help to realize this vision. Now more then ever we need a victory that takes real power back for Black and Brown communities and away from the gang of white supremacists controlling our government.

Please come to support, make a donation to the campaign, invite a friend and dance at a important and powerful event. lumumbaformayor.com

Unknown to most Jacksonians Chokwe Lumumba put this guy on the City payroll. This is the account of Antar's puppet master:

This publication is the first insider account of the Lumumba Administration. Kali Akuno, the author of this study, served as the coordinator of Special Projects and External Funding [Note: External Funding = Redistribution from Jackson treasury] for the late Mayor Chokwe Lumumba. He also is the co-founder and director of Cooperation Jackson as well as an organizer with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. In this piece, Akuno provides a critical history of the work done in Jackson in recent years, marrying these efforts to a future vision for the Jackson-Kush Plan to transform life in Jackson and beyond. For the target is clear: to turn around the State of Mississippi.

A Mississippian trying to crack on NYC, is like Sugar Bear cracking on Brad Pitt and the quality of women he's slept with!? GTFOH

Even per capita NYC has less crime than Mississippi???? And they have 10 million residents!?

Better roads
Kids have access to better education and they still have major segregated communities
Unemployment is low
Two airports
2 football teams
2 baseball teams
Hell - those som'itches even have NASCAR racing and Mississippi probably has one of the largest NASCAR fan bases - we can't even get a whiff of a NASCAR race in our own backyard

We have a lot of idiots in this state!

If a white candidate for Mayor did this and approved a campaign flyer saying "Please come to this important and powerful event to help support this mayoral campaign that takes real power back for WHITE communities", the Jackson Free Press and Clarion Ledger would be all over that white candidate screaming racism and how despicable it is. But if Antar or any other African American candidate does it, silence, not a peep, no problem with that racist behavior at all. Hypocrisy at its finest.

You'll be voting to return Chokwe's coterie of sycophants and Detroit rejects like Kwame Kenyatta to City Hall. Chokwe could manage them to some extent, BabyChok can't.

The Big Paycheck is more like it. Jackson's black "leadership" and its blatantly racist agenda is driving out the tax-paying whites. I guess that's okay with the racists as long as their "entitlement" monies keep flowing in and/or they can criminally prey on whites to obtain money and goods that they refuse to work for. God help us.

Puppet Master Akuno:

This experiment [Jackson-Kush Plan] is premised on building a radical culture of participatory democratic engagement to gain control over the “authoritative” functions of governance, and to democratize the fundamental means of production, distribution, and financial exchange.

I'm waiting (but not holding my breath) for the Clarion-Ledger to jump on this. I'm sure Jerry Mitchell and Jimmy Gates are working jointly on a story at this very moment. Don't you think?

Anonymous said...

Puppet Master Akuno contradicts De'Keither Stamps:

The second issue was the passage of an ordinance against racial profiling. This ordinance was intentionally designed to address two related issues: the proposed adoption of policing strategies that would further criminalize and imprison Black people; and other xenophobic measures that were being proposed on a municipal and state level to detain and deport undocumented immigrants.

Meaning Jackson as a defacto sanctuary city.

Because he is nothing like his father.

Say what you may about Chokwe, he really did give a damn about the poor and disenfranchised. He wasn't all talk like Stokes and Melton

He fed the homeless, he counseled to young men caught up in a life of crime, he did a lot of pro bono work for people that couldn't afford an attorney

He walked the walk

he may have disagreed with Phil Bryant - but he wasn't too proud to get on the phone and tell the man, "I will need your help turning this city around, can I hold you accountable?"

A true community activist that got into politics with a selfless mindset, he wanted to turn this city around.

His son benefited from his father's name and now he's living the American dream in a gated community, with his eyes on power and wealth. He's not following the Chokwe political playbook. He's following the Trump political playbook.

Holistic, in this case could only mean, "Body, mind, spirit, legal, illegal, acceptable, unacceptable, violative of societal norms, peaceful, anarchistic, pleasing to Allah (these people DID take Muslim names),using any manner and means possible to achieve power". Why else do you think the word holistic was chosen for the slogan?

Let me let you all KNOW something. The informed black electorate, if they get off their apathetic butts, won't vote for this candidate. At this point however, Jackson is but a microcosm of what's happening on the national level with such a dismal field of candidates to select from! I feel Donald Trump was just as much as a race "baiter", and any other demographic that didn't look like him, he demeaned and ostracized. This current administration has far outspent Obama already, not even 100 days yet, this administration has already proven to be most unintelligent, ineffective in any REAL matters, bombing Syria, for show, no real foreign or domestic pathways to help the American people, I can go on and on. And you think Jackson's infrastructure is crap, this entire nation is on the brink, but we all KNOW the REAL reason people voted for such incompetence that they would have NEVER accepted in a black candidate. We know. Keep telling yourselves different.

One huge thing the Trump election has done is to embolden those would- be radical political candidates to lay their cards on the table without regard to political correctness. Hence you get openly socialist zealots who don't have to hide their affiliations any more. Any curious voter can obtain all the information he needs on Antar's ultimate agenda, if they care enough to ask. If you get blindsided, it's your own damn fault. His father was masterful at reassuring nervous private business people that his radical associates would not co-opt the financial base of central Mississippi for a socialist experiment. Antar has no experience doing that, and probably no intention to do so. Jackson, a city on life support, may become the latest guinea pig for the far-left political and economic experiments the rest of the country cannot afford to try. If you live outside the area it could be interesting, if you live in Jackson, it could be terrifying. Stay tuned.

Anonymous said...

My concern with Antar wouldn't be his "leftist-socialist" agenda

it's the fact that he has his eyes on bigger prizes, the Mayor's office would just be a stepping stone.

Considering that - he wouldn't do anything that was experimental or far reaching to jeopardize a chance to get Benny's seat in congress.

Whoever the next mayor is - the Capitol Complex bill is going to give them some major help on re-focusing the city's resources to make major repairs to sewer lines and roads. That's a can't miss opportunity.

Tony missed that opportunity with whoring around town.

The legislature did a lot of stupid stuff this last session, but the Capitol Complex is going to do major wonders for the metro area. Let's just hope the rest of the municipalities do what's right in updating their part that's connected to the contiguous area.

So, Babychok is financed by Leftist-Globalists based in Germany (and White)? Makes sense.

9:42 - Babychok ran for office and followed a political handbook before the current president ever considered running, much less started his political career. Get a calendar, unless they're constructs of, how you say it? White supremacy? Oh, and did Babychok ever work in the private sector?

Pitt, that 'r' word you (and others) are throwing around was invented by a Russian-born Jewish Communist named Leon Trotsky. It's sole purpose was to divide people. It seems to be working.

10:37 - the people who "define hate groups" don't acknowledge the hate from the Left. That would run counter to their agenda. How can you take their word if it doesn't cover all sides?

11:17 - Oh, my, that sham of an election - again. You're talking about dead folks in Chicago who've been voting Democrat for decades, right? Or the precincts in Philadelphia and Cleveland with 100% turnout, right? Right??
As for the slogan you mention, Bill Clinton used the same thing in 1992 on several occasions. It's on the Youtubes, so get to it.

11:17, yes the hypocrisy is deep, and you just showed yours again.

First, as someone above noted, your beloved Bill Clinton used the exact same slogans, Take America Back and Make America Great Again, throughout his campaign. It's ok for him to use it but not anyone else ? I'll ask you the same question you asked, who did Clinton want to take America back from ?

Second, I didn't vote for Trump. That said, you interpreted his slogan Take America Back to be racist and meaning he wants to take it back from African Americans ? I, on the other hand, heard it to mean take it back from the greedy politicians (i.e. his other slogan to "drain the swamp") and the corporate CEO types and Wall Streeters who were/are controlling everything.

But regardless, Trump got called out over and over by the media for his supposed racist comments or actions. Have you read a peep about Antar's ? Again, there's your hypocrisy showing up, it's ok to call Trump on him racist acts but not Antar ?

Sweetheart, there is a difference between someone who sees and acknowledges a real threat to his community and someone who can't handle anyone challenging or disrupting what they have been told to believe. The latter is what is meant by "snowflake", not the former, and it doesn't apply to people who have dealt with and come through adversity. Rather, you should apply it to your little generation of navel gazers, who build walls and safe spaces and do everything to keep any semblance of dissent away.

You know what I mean, right pumpkin? Mommy and Daddy told you that you were special and unique and, dammit, you believed it! So you go watch John Oliver (now that Jon Stewart isn't around to tell you how to think) and you really believe that you are smarter and better than everyone when you use "Drumpf" to describe the commander in chief. You believe that chanting NOT MY PRESIDENT! on the campus quad actually counts, and that if you, Mr. Special, don't accept him, that means he isn't the president.

Pookie, I know it's hard to hear, but the world is tough and you mean dick to it. Watching a scripted comedy show does not make you clever or original or smart, and using the same "zingers" as all your peers cements you into the fact that you are no different than they, even though you believe you are.

But don't worry. I'm sure the campus Student Center for Social Justice has a safe room with coloring books and soap bubbles and a blankey for you to cuddle up with. And keep believing that Antar is your friend, Whitey. He and all the people at the Harlem Malcolm X Center are counting on that.

10:37 --

I am NOT a member of the SCV (though I qualify.)

You may consider them a hate group, but not even the mewling, liberal p*ssies at the ridiculously named SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER considers them as such. I think SPLC calls Chik-Fil-A a hate group, for believing a marriage means one man and one woman. If that gives you some perspective.

For the record, I think Mississippi should probably change its flag. But if you think a historically-based orginization of men who like to talk and write about their shared Southern heritage is some threatening "hate group," then you need to find a safe space and a therapy dog or something.

Ultimately, though, you're engaging in moral equivalence, so let's do a side-by-side comparison.

One group wants ALL members of a race removed from certain portions of Mississippi, the boundaries of which it will arbitrarily and unilaterally draw. Oh, that group will also forcibly redistribute private income as it sees fit.

The other gets together occasionally to talk about the 11th Mississippi under Barksdale at Gettysburg, & wonders aloud what might have been had A.S. Johnston not been mortally wounded at Shiloh.

Tell me which one strikes you as dangerous.

Furthermore, it should be noted that Chokwe Antar Lumumba was not aware of the flyer until it was brought to his attention after the event. "Take the power back"

Uhhh Jackson has the highest or second highest percentage of African-Americans for US cities with at least 100,000 people. So who has the power exactly?

A large percentage of the white people in Jackson are probably moderates linked to UMC, Millsaps, MC Law, Belhaven, or are just white Mississippians living in the state's biggest city that aren't racist. They probably have endured more bs, because of their skin tone than most of Jackson's blacks under the age of 60.

Does this mean Antar wants/will let the white area of town become its own city? Imagine Jackson without Belhaven, Fondren, Eastover, and Downtown.

Antar isn't smart enough to attend schools of higher education in Jackson, but he thinks hes smart enough to run the city, and it's not like he has manners, personality, or work ethic to make up for it.

So, I don't like New Yorkers ( liberal, conservative or wings of either) involved in our mayoral race.
I also don't like that the Koch brothers and Texans and South Carolinians have tried to mess with our politics either.
I don't like that the Russians paid money to influence our national election either.
None of these outside groups know jack about us or the issues facing us and don't give a rat's behind either.
Not so long ago, you couldn't get state party money, much less , out of state money to support a local candidate.
And, we let this happen. It happened right under our noses because we let slick campaign tactics obscure the issues. We like slogans and " alternative facts" and to be told what we want to hear instead of what we need to know. We put likability over competence.

To "well I guess it would be called my life" at 5:34pm, perhaps you can answer a few questions:

If the fundraiser was "never intended to promote racial division", then explain the title "The Big Payback", or the line about "[taking] real power back for Black and Brown communities". In what universe are those phrases not divisive?

What, specifically, is the "payback"?

From whom will Lumumba be taking back real power? The obvious inference is from white people, as they are explicitly omitted and are the well-known object of ire for the disciples of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, as well as Lumumba's father. But as mentioned several times here, Jackson is 80% black and has had black mayors for 20 years, so what real power is there to "take back"?

Why were white communities EXPRESSLY omitted from mention here? One would assume that a "human rights city" (whatever that is) would buttress the rights for ALL people, regardless of their color, but your fundraiser flyer makes no direct mention of the minority population of the city. In fact, it sounds disturbingly like all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

Since "Chokwe Antar Lumumba was not aware of the flyer until it was brought to his attention after the event", has he denounced the verbiage within? Can you direct me to a link where Lumumba has made a statement that the incredibly divisive content of that flyer is not what he stands for? One assumes, as you made the comment, that Lumumba disagrees with it, so why hasn't he said so?

Was there any discussion of the real problems facing the city of Jackson that have nothing to do with taking back real power, building a human rights city, or getting payback? I refer to water and sewer problems, roads and bridges that are in disrepair, and budgetary issues that have crippled the city. These affect black and brown communities disproportionately in a city where they are 80% of the population. Did your Big Payback Rally discuss such things, or did you simply dwell upon taking back real power?

Did Lumumba speak, and if so, is there a transcript? Or would you and your organizers prefer not to share the uncensored comments of the evening with the people who actually live and work in the city whose mayoral election you are attempting to influence?

Should I expect answers?

Anonymous said...

Sherman, set the way back machine to 2013 when the elder Lumumba was squaring off against Jonathan Lee (remember him?) for the mayoral race of Jackson.

A day or two before the polling, signs appeared around the metro that said, "Vote Tuesday, May 21. The future of Jackson depends on it." No mention of race, candidate, party, ideology - just a simple get out the vote effort.

But not to Donna Ladd and Tom Head! They saw a white conspiracy to undermine the Lumumba campaign and to get white people to vote (presumably) against Chokwe.

They claimed that the signs were only appearing in Fondren, NE Jackson, and Belhaven (never mind that they were also placed around Metrocenter, Jackson State, and Van Winkle) and that those behind them were sending code messages, telling their white brethren to pull a lever for Lee.

Have either of these stalwart watchdogs complained about the obviously divisive language on this poster, or that black and brown people in New York are trying to influence an election to payback whitey? This isn't tacit, it's front and center.

I wouldn't expect anything from them. Par for the course.

Thank you, 8:32am.

5:34pm or "well I guess it would be called my life".... I have the same question if you would please answer....this flyer is without a doubt incredibly racially charged and divisive. Has Antar spoken out against it or said he disagrees with it ? If so, where ? If not, why not ? I agree with you that Jackson would be better off if we, black and white citizens, would just work together for the common good. But it's hard to believe Antar will do that when he has a flyer for one of his fundraisers this racially divisive and doesn't speak out against it.

I'll try again

My name is Andrew Smith. I'm white. I'm a carpenter by trade and a human rights organizer when I get time off. I organized the fundraiser because I deeply respect the vision of Chokwe Antar Lumumba and have a deep trust in the rest of the Lumumba family to enact human rights reforms that help ALL people, no matter what race.

I feel bad that the phrasing of the flier could me misconstrued in this way. One of the goals of the fundraiser was to promote racial unity and did not intend to create division. It also seems important to add that the campaign didn't design the flier. In fact a graphic designer who is part of my organizer did it. We should have done a better job checking with the Lumumba campaign about using that language, and I'm truly sorry if it offended folks in Jackson, that was not my intention. In fact I held this fundraiser for the people of Jackson. I know that Antar Lumumba will benefit everyone in Jackson. His father comes from the same proud background of racial justice work and when he became mayor immediately began working and cooperating with all people of all races, even ones who had tried to stop his campaign from succeeding. Antar I am sure will do the same.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for your biography. Now would you mind directing the people of Jackson, for whom you held this fundraiser, to a transcript of Antar's speech so that we may decide for ourselves if he will benefit everyone in Jackson?

Or, are Antar's remarks better unshared with those whom he proposes to govern?

1:13, if you can spell and type, you really shouldn't.
And if I have deciphered correctly what you were attempting to get out, you are misinformed.

@11:55, "Antar I am sure will do the same."
NO. His own father would tell you that. He is not the same man. No where near. It seems that you have gotten involved where you have no business.

Is 11:55 "real?"

For real said...

A carpenter by trade and a human rights organizer on the side comments on a Good Friday of an Easter Weekend the day before North Korea might test a nuclear weapon in the presence of a U.S. Naval armada off the coast of Japan? Real enough for me!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
