About last night

How does one describe last night's episode? Disgusting? Riveting? A slow crescendo to a rousing finale? All of the above?  Some thoughts on what took place last night.

1.  Does Jorah need to teach the Unsullied how to use swords?  These are the baddest soljah's on the planet yet none of them have figured out they can't use 8-foot spears in close quarters.  One would think they would start using them as many times as they have been ambushed by the Harpies.  The Unsullied are starting to become the new Orcs.  Jorah, start training these guys. Back to boot camp for the ball-less ones.

2.  The sacrifice.  This was probably the most horrific part of the entire season.  The show lets us warm up to Stannis as we see him show his love for his daughter and then backstabs us as we see him and the witch burn her alive. Damn the witch.  Obviously he listened to her and thought he lost Blackwater because she was not there to aid him.  Hope taking Winterfell is worth it.  How many of you turned your channels away from the actual burning?

3.  Tyron might be a dwarf but he cuts as well with a knife as any big man.  Amazing what he can do when he is sober.

4.  Arya, don't do what I think you are going to do.  You have no where else to go.  Getting yourself kicked out of Those who serve the god of many faces is not a smart thing to do and if there is one thing you need to learn after everything that has happened to you over the years, it is how to become a master assassin.  There is also something disturbing about literally a little girl planning to kill someone by acting as his prostitute.  Damn. Where have we seen this before?  Kill Bill, Volume 1.  Will Arya tell him to look into her eyes?  Its a shame they didn't change her face to Lara as they did in the book.

5.  What the hell happened, or should I write "didn't happen", at Castle Black.  The most shocking battle took place last week.  The survivors of that battle get back to Castle Black yet we don't get a scene where they tell everyone what happened? Um, don't you think telling your brothers in arms that yes, Winter is coming and the White Walkers are finally on the march is important?

6. The thought of that girl burning to death. Can't get rid of it.  Davos is going to kill that witch one day.  Why couldn't the witch tell him to burn Reek alive if he wants to win?

7.  What should Dany do? She tried to make peace.  Reopened the pits.  Marry one of the leading citizens. The Harpies killed him and tried to use the opening of the pits to kill her.  What the hell were the Harpies doing wounding a dragon?  The characters all said in the books and show that armies couldn't beat the dragons yet two-bit spears are wounding this thing?  Dany should borrow a page from Spartacus: round up the leading families and kill them all.  When she comes back.  Where did she go?

8.  The little girl burning to death.

Tons of people. Check the ratings. Awesome episode.

I wonder how long the finale is going to be. There are a lot of story lines that need to be addressed further - Dany, Stannis, Sansa and Ramsay, the Sand Snakes, the White Walkers, etc. I hope the finale is at least 1.5 hours.

Stop talking about the books.

The good thing is we will be able to watch it again and again every nite on Directv.

+1 @8:22.

Yes, a bunch of people obviously enjoy the show. Am I correct that we're all okay with depravity so long as it is fiction? Or, more broadly, we're good with whatever content we consume and we'll all be unaffected by it because it isn't real?

Lighten up Francis.

There are two scenes this season that have generated no small amount of complaints from loyal fans.

That fight at the end of episode 8 was taxing, much like the first 30 minutes of 'Saving Private Ryan.' And upon their return, yeah, nothing. Though the look on their faces did speak alot. Can't wait for First Ranger to get his comeuppance.

Going into episode 9 we wanted Stannis (aside from Jon Snow the last moral hero in Westeros) to fucking destroy the Boltons and free Sansa. Stannis, a little softer but still the stern military commander, became infinitely more likeable following that scene a few episodes back with his daughter. Now this...and you couldn't just look away, the screams were piteous. Cannot wait for that Red Bitch to die...

Funny how in the books The Unsullied are better than any 8-10 regular soldiers and, in the series, they're all tripping over their shriveled sacs with these Harpies. Hopefully, Danerys comes back atop the black dragon and the city lays down their arms.

Methinks we get to catch up with Bran next episode...

Well, in a word about the daughter, DAMN.I think the wife gave up a little last night after the burning.

Drogon gets speared in the books yall and DANY yanks it out. So yes, spears can pierce but they just melt.
Red Woman ain't going nowhere. Stannis is lost. Sad. Davos needs to run...
Dany is hanging out with Drogon in book.
Arya needs to kill that guy and the thin man.
Jon Snow is so fine. Yummy.
Where is lady Stoneheart?
I'm done.

But was the little girl really "king's blood?" Her mother finally snapped out of her depressed submission when Stannis said that. Is it possible she is Davos' child? Does not bode well for Winterfell.

I'm still hooked so what does it matter?

Being reading lots of Dark Ages and Medieval English history of late and don't find the beliefs or behaviors all that far fetched.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
