Shad Countersues Favre

State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.

Today State Auditor Shad White’s office counter-sued Brett Favre for hundreds of thousands of welfare dollars. Last February, Favre sued White for defamation for truthful statements Auditor White made describing Mississippi’s large welfare fraud scandal. Auditor White’s attorneys filed a counter-claim today in the same defamation suit, demanding Favre pay back Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds with interest.

“Mississippi’s Constitution and laws require that the State Auditor act to protect the taxpayers and fully collect all public funds which Mr. Favre received from Nancy New and John Davis. Mr. Favre’s meritless defamation suit provides the opportunity for the recovery of the principal and interest which Mr. Favre failed to repay,” said Auditor White.

Originally Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office represented White in the case between Favre and White. On January 5th, though, the Attorney General’s Office announced they would no longer represent Auditor White in the case because White “call[ed] into question the integrity of the Attorney General” in White’s upcoming book. Since then, attorneys at the Office of the State Auditor have been handling the case.

The counter-claim filed today asks the court to require Favre to repay the principal and interest he owes on $1.1 million in welfare funds. The Auditor’s office discovered these illegal transfers to Favre during its initial investigation and demanded Favre repay the amount, plus interest, in 2021. Favre admitted his fault but failed to pay the entire amount due.

“It boggles the mind that Mr. Favre could imagine he is entitled to the equivalent of an interest-free loan of $1.1 million in taxpayer money, especially money intended for the benefit of the poor. Now that lawyers from the Office of the State Auditor are trying this case, we are going to ensure Mr. Favre is held accountable for his acts and omissions,” added White.

In 2022, the Mississippi Department of Human Services sued Favre in an attempt to recover welfare money paid for a volleyball court at the University of Southern Mississippi and to an experimental concussion treatment company Favre had invested in, but the agency did not sue to recover for the amounts due in relation to the $1.1 million transfer. Today’s counter-claim seeks to recover $437,000 in unpaid principal and $292,790 in unpaid interest.

Auditor White’s Answer and Counterclaim lay out the position of the office in greater detail. The office will have no further statements on the matter at this time.

Fitch has thin skin. Pay up Favre. It's only one year's worth of NFL pension.

It’s nothing wrong with the Attorney General or the State Auditor it’s something wrong with the voters in Mississippi. Just think if it was other employees and not just John Davis or Higher the Higher ups that benefited from the welfare fraud. Our asses would all be in Federal or State Prison!

Not saying any of our Great, Great Politicians did anything shigity! Look in the mirror! We enable!

Shad needs to get to the bottom of this mess. Inquiring minds want to know. Shad check into Cliff Finch while your at it.

Dude, this shit show from the child auditor is getting stale, quick. Move on, your 10 minutes of fame are over. Mike hurst is waiting outside to beat your ass for being a little punk ass.

Go Get 'em, Shad!

Why are public funds being spent defending Shad for his personal utterances against Brett & the Ole Miss professor. There is no state statue requiring Shad to publicize himself “self premonition” on his own as a future candidate for public office. I would also like to know how much time he spent on the states dime writing his book

It amazes me that if you hurt the attn general's feeling, that she takes her DUTY and goes home. Just a skirt

This is nothing more than Shad trying to protect his political future, and perhaps his freedom.

Brett Favre has stared down Warren Sapp and lived to tell about it...do you really think he is worried about Alfred E Neumann?

I see he is doubling down, I’d like to hear from Lynn’s Republican women on what they think of the Auditor now ??

I’ve got questions pertaining to the ethics of how Shad’s representation is paid for considering he charges people an investigation cost (usually more than what they embezzled) on their crimes ?? Also I think Favre is guilty of being a dumbass but I would nt risk my political future on Mississippi s native son!

I fully expect Shadrack to pepper the state's highways with billboards featuring his mug in the near future.

Hopefully in time for Valentine's Day.

Lynn's office decided to represent Shad two years ago when that lunatic professor sued him, and Lynn's office doubled down on the legality of representing Shad in a defamation case when Favre sued him.

The only reason we're talking about this is because Fitch took her toys and went home because Shad hurt her feelings. If anyone is questioning the ethics or legality of the situation, they should direct those questions to the AG's office, because they signed off on it, first.

Favre > Shad

So Jones Walker is getting paid state money to represent DHS in getting money back from Favre and now Shad is (presumably) using state money to get the same money back from Favre? Government efficiency at its finest.

At the time I am writing this, there are 12 posts. I am amazed that one has used the term "low hanging fruit". Where are all the Shad naysayers who constantly accuse the man of going after the only small fish?

To 11:31. There are 15 posts at the time I am writing this. There is no point in referring to the "low hanging fruit"; Shad's record speaks for itself. But perhaps you can educate us all with specific references to those other than the "low hanging fruit" that Shad has "gone after". I'll wait, and while I'm no fan of Favre, I certainly believe he leaned on his pal Phil for the volleyball money - but I do not believe for a second that he told Phil he wanted it to come from TANF funds. He probably had never heard of TANF; he did not give a shit how Phil got the money to him.

Heep big football player got tail caught in crack!

It's funny that a few weeks after the Attorney General makes Shad hire real attorneys stuff actually starts moving forward on the case.

When we are friends you say I’m a great person and you support me! When I challenge you or don’t agree with what you are doing or not doing, I withdraw my support and alienate you!

Kinda like, forget the rules, certain people in Mississippi you just don’t cross!

Is anyone of the MDHS fraud scandal in Jail yet? If it were yo ass, you’d be half way through your prison time!

How can TANF FUNDS EVER BE APPROVED FOR AN INDIVIDUALS personal gain. I don’t actually blame the football idiot, I TOTALLY blame all government employees, elected or regular salaried, for approving this complete embarrassing fiasco. Shame on Mississippi, shame on L Finch.

Kudos to Shad's legal team. Very thorough filing that lays out the facts. If this filing is factually incorrect the court will act on that. (It isn't) Facts are stubborn things.

When will all of you realize these people are no good and stop voting them into office? They show you who they are and yet you line up to vote for them again and again.

Come on people, give AG Fitch a break. She and her staff are too busy suing China and boot-strapping onto lawsuits filed by AGs in other states.

Shad’s minions and Stay in the Sip interns are earning their state money today on JJ! Keep posting young people, keep posting.

Brett paid back every penny he (mistakenly) took! Does this little twerp auditor think he’s American Express and can charge 29% interest rates?

Lynn Fitch vs Shad White for the Republican primary for Governor??? 😂

Anonymous said...

I really appreciate the work Mr. White is doing, but is it bad of me to say he reminds me of Alfred E. Neuman?

What, me worry? said...

@3:28 PM He does!

Anonymous said...

@2:50 - he still hasn’t even paid off the principal of the stolen money let alone the interest or investigative costs the taxpayers incurred to uncover his scheme. He’s had the stolen money sitting in his account long enough, he belongs in prison. Even Brett’s deteriorated brain knew this was wrong, he just didn’t care.

NFL = Nefarious funds larceny

Disappointed in the Auditor. Favre asked for the money from the state and received. I think the state is on the hook for mismanagement, not Favre. Mike Hurst, next..

Chi'please - these yahoos will promote him to higher office

They did it with Tater, Phil, Lynn, Delbert, and he will keep the tradition going

It's all about the (R) baby

Complacency and Apathy is what we do best!

The feds should have tried this as a RICO case. Brett, Phil, Nancy, Davis, the wrestler and all the rest knew it was wrong to steal money from poor people and they should be made to pay for their evil.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
