A trooper tried to execute one of them fancy u-turn maneuvers on Highway 80 west over in the Lauderdale County area and well, it did not go so well for all concerned.
The Scotty Ray Report posted these photos on its Facebook page. If you want to keep up with what's happening in the Meridian area, check out the Scotty Ray Report.
Fortunately, no one was injured.

I don’t understand why 2 MHP cars were involved. Is there anyway other than Facebook to see the video? Some of us don’t use Facebook.
the boys down at the body shop can buff that out
Had the Bandit just come through there? I really wish you could post that clip from the movie now!
Luckily, the state of Mississippi can afford this $100,000.00 wreck. How do two highway patrol cars just happen to run into each other? The answer is “they don’t”!
Too busy watching that spicy video from their co-workers!
I am a consistent supporter of the Blue Line. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why the Blues have a compulsive desire to drive a bazillion miles an hour whether chasing a crook or driving to lunch.
Just the boys playing with our tax dollars. No repercussions coming...
Luckily for them, they don’t have to pay the damages, we do. If I was an asshole, I probably wouldn’t care much about costing other people money either.
Boys will be boys. They were hot-dogging it and failed, but the generous taxpayers (a minority of residents) of last-place Mississippi will buy them some new take-home cars. But if we try this crap we would be arrested for reckless driving, not to be confused with "wreck-less" driving.
@11:05 - they have no incentive to follow the law or take care of their taxpayer funded toys.
It’s too bad more people don’t back accountability for the blue
@10:57 Hilarious and likely true. The jokes just write themselves.
Were their sunglasses still perched on top of their shining bald pates? For some cops, that's all their head is good for.
We deserve an explanation, as taxpayers.
So, of course we won't get one.
to the consistant supporter of the blue line @11;05.................you don't know much about cops, do you?
Must’ve gotten a call saying the rest of the boys were at the Western Sizzlin.
They were Trooperettes no doubt…
Probably watching that female Trooper video
@1105. Because the can
One day you rednecks are all "A. Fox" justice!! then next day you're all "covid bucks" Biden, cops bad.
Glad nobody was injured but these guys are all clowns.
Leadfooted bullies.
Why is it that at EVERY SINGLE WRECK the cops are doing NOTHING? The only person who ever works at those things are the wrecker operator and sometimes the firemen.
There must have been a Lottery emergency this morning. One of those state provided gaming commission cars blew by me on I-55 south in Madison county (tag G 45767). They don’t pay for the car or the insurance so they drive as they please.
Who were the patrolmen? Most of them drive like they bought their license at Dollar General. They are not respectful of the taxpayers’ property. I really think they should be published because it’s usually repetitive dumbassery from the same individuals. Show their photos.
They were racing to Krispy-Kreme.
They need to retake their "J-turn" training, or maybe it was self-taught?
Back when Volvo was still Swedish, and we still drove Volvos, we didn't worry about driving costs. But now, driving Japanese and "British" marques, I feel like the Captainette of the Titanic. Even in my thrifty Lexus, everything costs a bunch. Every excessive acceleration, and every unnecessary braking, affects that mileage calculation being reported on my dashboard. And EVERY... BUMP... COSTS... MONEY.
I was back in Madison, and got pulled-over for "driving slowly and swerving". The cop was nice about it, and mainly was using this as a pretext for checking to see that it wasn't some drug dealer in the executive sedan (in Mississippi, apparently, anything other than a pickup or an SUV screams "minority criminal"). I thought I was driving 2 miles OVER the limit, but that was before I discovered that LS are calibrated to round-up the MPH. So, I was driving-the-limit, which was unusual, apparently.
I recounted the number of manholes I'd avoided, moving to avoid the ruts at the railroad tracks... "The shocks on this thing are sixteen hundred APIECE. I avoid bumps..."
"Well... I'm gonna let you go, this time."
Obviously, the poor cop (who was sweet and unfailingly polite, since it was Madison), had never HEARD of someone's driving to avoid bumps. Had I been in my 'Proper Motorcar', and told him what shocks and struts and run-flat "tyres" cost for THEM, he'd have thought I was lying.
But yes: to confirm what other posters have said, LEOs don't seem to understand that there are price tags attached to to what we do in our cars.
There's a legendary story passed down to each MHP cadet class about a highway patrolman who while speeding to a call ran off the highway, flipped three times, and still walked away shaky but uninjured. People who stopped to help were slack jawed as he climbed out his upside down cruiser.
"What's the matter?" he asked them. "Haven't you ever seen a highway patrolman park his car?"
If that were TaxpaYERS INVOLVED THERE'D BE FAULT. Let's read about The Who, What & Why. We the Taxpayers bought their Training, bought their Ride & it didn't work. Let's have some Responsibility in this situation. Explain the how, why, & Tighten up on Training & be Financially Responsible for your actions. Hell, Years ago Mississippians respected Troopers- a lot.
There's a reason those turns are illegal.
I smell a promotion. Maybe two.
"But sergeant, I swerved to miss a deer."
Steal $10,000 and Shad will be knocking on your door.
Wreck a $100,000 patrol car and your MHP sergeant will tell you to drive more carefully next time.
We’re all involved drug tested, of course not.
MHP needs to send their guys to Arkansas. Those boys have perfected the PIT maneuver.
Get on YouTube & search “Trooper Jacob Byrd.”
Obviously the car is at fault, it probably resisted arrest or smelled like weed. The patrolman was scared for his life and had to do something. Do we know what charges were filed against the car?
Hey but they are good boys. Let’s raise the starting salary for troopers to $60K.
That should buff out.
East bound and down
