Catch & Release! Squawk! Catch & Release! Adkins Shooter Edition

The Hinds County Catch & Release program is chugging along just fine, thank you very much.  Exhibit A: Kylin Russell of the Adkins QT shootout fame.

Police arrested Russell this week for that little stunt that took place back in October.  However, Russell was already familiar with the police.

Russell's first known brush with the law took place in 2022.  An investigator's  affidavit states police tried to pull over a 2016 Ford Focus Russell was driving on February 8, 2022 because the vehicle had a switched tag.  The Hinds County grand jury indicted Russell for felony fleeing on July 22, 2022.  The case was assigned to Circuit Judge Faye Peterson and is following what is the normal course on her docket.

An undeterred Russell got himself arrested again when the Capitol Police arrested him on June 7, 2023 and charged him with tampering with physical evidence.  The Hinds County grand jury indicted Russell on September 1, 2023 for the charge.  The indictment alleges:

Kylin Russell, while under the belief that criminal proceedings were pending or may be instituted against him, threw a bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana along with a .223 caliber AR-15 rifle from the Woodrow Wilson Boulevard bridge crossing over Mill Street in Jackson, Mississippi, in an attempt to destroy, mutilate, conceal, remove, or alter physical evidence with the intent to impair its use, verity, or availability in a pending criminal investigation or prospective criminal investigation.

The case was assigned to Hinds County Circuit Judge Debra Gibbs but unfortunately, the case is following the usual pattern in her court, which means very little of anything. Despite the execution of the capias, Judge Gibbs still has not arraigned Russell nor scheduled a trial for him.

Russell continued to thumb his nose at law and order when he  went on his little October shooting spree in October.  Fortunately, a witness's dashcam got Russell on video in full thuggish glory as he fired off round after round towards the QT on Adkins Boulevard.

The shooting took place in October but the dashcam video of the incident did not surface until recently.  Police were able to identify the vehicle and license plate in the video.

Russell was at large but not for long.  Upon encountering a Capitol Police roadblock Friday night, Russell tried to flee but officers gave chase.  They soon apprehended the suspect and found a bunch of goodies in his vehicle.

did willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously, believing that an official proceeding was pending or might be instituted, and acting without the legal right or authority, to conceal, by throwing a black, red, and blue Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 Multi Cal rifle (SIN: 21452075) into someone's yard near the woods, physical evidence with intent to impair its use in the pending criminal investigation or prospective official proceeding; while fleeing from law enforcement on Pine Ridge Rd near Woodland Ave Jackson, MS

Capitol Police charged him with tampering with physical evidence but that is the least of Russell's worries as he now faces federal prosecution on more serious charges after the Justice Department jumped into the case.
The Justice Department charged Russell Wednesday with illegal machine gun possession.  An ATF Special Agent's affidavit states:

On Friday, February 9, 2024, Officer Richard Cates with CPD patrol division was assisting with a safety checkpoint at the intersection of Bailey Avenue and Melvin Bender Drive in Jackson, Mississippi. At approximately 9:49 P.M., Officer Cates observed a gray Toyota Camry (no tag displayed, VIN: 4T1B61HK5ill088147) turn around and almost cause an accident with another vehicle. Officer Cates attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle refused to stop. Officer Cates pursued the vehicle for approximately ten minutes as the vehicle fled through the city of Jackson, reaching speeds of up to 120 miles per hour.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Pine Ridge Road and Woodland Avenue, where both occupants of the vehicle fled on foot. Officer Cates pursued the driver and observed him throw an AR-style pistol. Officer Cates apprehended the driver, identified as Kylin Demond RUSSELL, a short time later and placed him in custody. A search incident to arrest of RUSSELL revealed a small amount of suspected marijuana on his person.

Investigator Martez Jackson with the CPD FLEX team located the AR-style pistol, an Anderson Manufacturing AR-style pistol, serial number 21452075) in the front yard of a residence on Woodland Avenue and recovered it. Inv. Jackson also conducted an inventory of the vehicle prior to it being towed. During the inventory, Inv. Jackson located a Glock 21, .45 caliber pistol, serial number AGSD807, with an attached black in color suspected machine gun conversion device (MCD) on the driver side floorboard and a Glock 23, .40 caliber pistol, serial number AFZH807, with attached blue in color suspected MCD on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Also, during the inventory, a Mississippi blackout tag "HOW74" was recovered, which returned expired to that vehicle, registered to Jalea Evern. Law enforcement has learned that Evern is a convicted felon, is on house arrest, has an ankle monitor, and that Evern and RUSSELL know one another.

However, there is more to the story.  Russell being Russell meant he just had to do something stupid. You guessed it. The knucklehead recorded the shooting on his iPhone. WORLDSTAR!

Inv. Ladnier was able to send me photographs from RUSSELL's cellular phone that were taken on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 and Wednesday, February 7, 2024, and show two Glock pistols with attached suspected MCDs that match the descriptions of the ones recovered subsequent to the pursuit and arrest on February 9.

Additionally, in the picture taken on Wednesday, February 7, there are two other firearms present, one of which is an AR-style firearm that matches the description of the AR pistol recovered on Friday, February 9. Inv. Ladnier also relayed that he observed videos of someone firing Glocks with attached suspected MCDs on RUSSELL's phone. On February 13, 2024, I was able to observe RUSSELL's phone. On the phone, I was able to observe videos of an unknown person firing a fully automatic weapon. Additionally, there are videos of RUSSELL holding different Glocks with attached suspected MCDs. One of the Glocks is a multicolored Glock with a blue suspected MCD attached to it. The other is a black colored Glock with an attached MCD to it, and an AR-style foregrip attached to the front of the Glock.

The most recent video was taken on Monday, Februaiy 5, 2024, during which RUSSELL is seen driving a Toyota car. RUSSELL is seen attempting to fire the multicolored Glock out of the driver's side window, and the firearm jains. RUSSELL and another unknown male ai·e heard discussing the function of the firearm and why it malfunctions. Eventually, the firearm is fired and functions as a fully automatic. RUSSELL then pans the video and shows his face while holding the firearm up in the same frame.

You can't make this up.

Magistrate Judge LaKeysha Greer Isaac denied bond for the defendant and ordered him bound over to the grand jury.   Russell is detained in the Madison County Detention Center.

Switched tag, switch on his gun, maybe when he gets to jail he'll be a switch hitter...

And KF’s misogynistic and racist war against the Honorable Judge Peterson continues!

Kingfish said...

Is that the best you can do?

Anonymous said...

Judge Peter’s should go to the retirement home. What is she thinking allowing these losers on the streets?

Kingfish said...

Um, it was a felony fleeing. Can't deny bond on that one. He would probably get a light sentence, it's a 25% crime.

Wait, the guy in the video had long dreadlocks. What happened to his glorious hair?

Anonymous said...

Sounds to me like some bond revocations need to be filed.

His facebook account is "Boutabagg Da Don" - yall go get him

What is it going to take for these judges to do their jobs? Will one of their kids, grandkids, sisters, brothers, etc have to get killed by one of these turds before they start locking their asses up?

Yep, let the real dangerous criminals go via catch & release while begging for NEW GUN LAWS to weaponize against those leftist Democrats disagree with.

Misogynistic and Racist War…BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Peterson and Gibbs taking up where Green left off.

All of the Circuit Court judges are incompetent. Wooten and Gibbs are competing for title of worst. Hinds County has fallen SO far in the last 30 years.

Thank God the feds are involved now.

11:58 You got it. Just like the old joke goes (paraphrased): What's the difference between a democrat and a Republican? A Republican is a democrat who just got mugged. (Notice my capitalizations?)

As is the case with ALL politicians, NOTHING changes unless they are affected directly. Then, things get serious.

Thank God for Capital Police! Free the police! Allow them to do their jobs! Get these low-life thugs off the street! Things will never improve in Hinds County unless we are free of these thugs! " By any means necessary!"

Jackson is just exactly the way the people who live there want it to be.

He needs a night-night shot.

Jackson is where a twenty year absence of ethical, competent leadership can dump any majority demwit city. Prediction from this armchair is Lil Choke is in his last term.

Consider Strong Council-City Manager style of government in lieu of Strong Mayor, Weak Council. This Mayor has caused Jackson to suffer local devastation and national disgrace.

Sure his parents are fine upstanding people.

Those are good boys, They may rob you and knock you down but they would never hurt anyone. What a world

Shame on me…thought Gibbs wasn’t cut from the same cloth. Just getting that highest 4.

I think Choke will easily win reelection. Apparently a large number of voters here in Jackson enjoy watching the decline of a once fairly nice small city.

Is this what Chokwe meant by "The Big Payback"?

Just chunked an AR-15 out the window because obviously has no issue obtaining additional weapons of the same variety. This is one individual with apparently unlimited access to just about any type of firearm he wants. These aren’t coming from random thefts from vehicles. They aren’t coming from gun show purchases. One would logically conclude, or so it would seem, this is the byproduct of some sort of organized crime and should warrant a much deeper and higher level investigation. How many gun laws currently on the books did this guy and the suppliers of his guns break during this period of time and walk away free after doing so? Will more laws enforced on decent, honest citizens stop this type of lawlessness? I don’t think so.

The 4 circuit judges and the DA are the problem in Hinds County. But they’re elected by the folks that would rather have them than whitie, no matter the cost to society.

@6:58
It is a combination of truck gun thefts from the burbs and straw purchases involving baby-mamas and/or naive girlfriends from the burbs raiding their daddy’s collection. That last one happens often and the daddies don’t report the theft because they don’t want their daughters to get a record.

Ask anyone running a gun shop in the metro about the straw purchases.
Go browse Academy sports in Flowood. Straw purchases all day.

It’s doubtful that anyone affiliated with a serious organized crime syndicate would be posting their crimes on social media.

Anonymous said...

10:59AM, How many full automatic weapons does Academy sports sell?

Anonymous said...

@11:38 AM

Zero. People install the illegal switches to make them full auto.

Do you honestly think that question wasn’t completely asinine? 🙄🤦‍♂️

Anonymous said...

12:19 PM, completely asinine would be that Jackson thugs get their guns at Academy sports.

@1:13
Straw purchasers used to buy them from the one on County Line Road in Jackson before it shut down and fled. Straw purchases all day long!

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
