The Clinton Police Department issued the following statement.
On Sunday, February 4, 2024, at approximately 07:00 am, the Clinton Police Department responded to the Days Inn, located at 482 Springridge Road for a woman stating she had been kidnapped from Dallas, Texas, and then held against her will and raped. The victim told detectives that she was kidnapped at gunpoint in Dallas, Texas, on the morning of Saturday, February 3, 2024. During the preliminary investigation, detectives identified 26-year-old, Aaron Chavarria, of San Angelo, Texas as the suspect. Also identified, was a Lexus SUV, which was believed to be the vehicle Aaron Chavarria was driving. Aaron Chavarria and the Lexus were entered on NCIC. On Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at approximately 09:00 pm, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia was notified that the Lexus was traveling in their jurisdiction. The Sheriff’s dept. stopped and identified Aaron Chavarria as the driver. Chavarria was taken into custody. On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Clinton Police detectives went to Walker County, Georgia to continue the investigation. With the assistance of the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Clinton Police detectives were able to locate and collect substantial evidence, corroborating the statement provided by the victim.On Friday, February 9, 2024, Aaron Chavarria was transported back to the Clinton Police Department where he was formally charged with Rape and Kidnapping. He was held on a No Bond status after his initial appearance. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas Police Department are also investigating crimes committed by Aaron Chavarria in their respective jurisdictions.
