WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTOS POSTED BELOW!!!
Update: JPD arrested Jaylon Proctor. He is currently hospitalized.
A shootout took place on Bellwood Drive this morning.
A JXN Water crew was working in the area. Sources say someone texted a member of the JXN Water crew and asked where he was. The worker gave his location. The two men apparently had an ongoing beef.
A man drove up in a white truck and began shooting at the worker. The employee fired back at his assailant, wounding the man. (The post first reported "A few gentlemen were cutting down trees nearby and opened fire on the perp." ) The perp tried to flee but crashed into another vehicle, as seen below.
Thankfully there were no injuries except for the shooter, as seen in the pictures posted below.

Having to stay strapped while cutting trees...that's sad. Thankfully good guys with guns stopped a bad guy with a gun...again.
perps have notoriously bad aim
Standing by for the Soros funded Hinds DA to charge the GGWAG (good guy with a gun).
This sounds as if these innocent workers(tree cutters) are now being armed before climbing the trees to trim them. Don’t forget Jackson is “The Bold” new city.
The wild, wild, west ain't got nothing on Jackson.
Regardless of being at work or not, its very obvious there was some type of beef between this tree trimmer and the guy who shot him, this wasn't random
JXN Water folks don't play.
It’s a requirement to be armed if you enter the city limits. You’re a fool if you’re not.
@12:22 PM - Where does it mention that he is a "tree trimmer?"
Betcha the truck is stolen.
Patiently awaiting Lumumba to address the crime in his city.
12:22, the tree trimmers were bystanders who got involved, not the targets of the perp.
Guys were related and from BRANDON. Hate to disappoint. Two cousins who were arguing about money. Our neighbor spoke with the tree people. They said they had never seen anything like this when working the area here. That needs to be fact checked. The cousin, who drove into Jackson from Brandon, who was wounded, drove off and wrecked the car. Why is it necessary to show the blood and car? Just to make it more sensational?
Fortunately no one else was hurt...and it appears to have been targeted-not random.
If you live next door to that, it does not matter if it’s targeted or random. No one wants that crap in their neighborhood.
When perps know police are riding around and judges set bail at $500,000, they have a lot less motivation to shoot up a neighborhood on a Monday morning.
Big thanks to the tree crew for stepping in. This is nuts.
Oh, it was targeted, not random. Boy, do I feel better. Just murder away as long as it's targeted.
1:04 Boooo. That's doesn't fit the angry old man narrative we are attempting to cultivate.
Pictures are shown to advise the public what can happen and to always be aware.
It makes more sense to me that one of the tree guys was the intended target especially since they also had weapons and opened fire on the shooter. Of course things aren’t always logical.
This is a golden opportunity for Rukia/Chowke to blame a shooting on JXN Water. Right?
The bloody pictures were included because the realtors in Madison county requested they be shown.
This might I repeat might be Lumumba sista waring against the JXN Water people.
A few here aren't reading scholars. Here's the Dick 'n' Jane version:
The initial shooter called the JXN Water crew to ask where they were working and was told. One of the crew and the shooter were cousins. The shooter arrived in a white p.u. and started blasting at the JXN Water crew, none of whom were hit. Then a nearby tree cutting crew fired at the shooter, hitting him three times. Next the wounded perp drove off, only to crash into a nearby p.u.
The DMZ is now Ridgewood Road south of Old Canton.
I talked with friends and family who live in this neighborhood, and apparently, the water contractor fired back, not the tree guys. Tree guys all were taking cover.
See if I understand this correctly: by all media accounts quoting JPD, a guy opens fire on a JXN Water crew, and a crew member returns fire. Are JXN Water's Workers carrying guns in order to do their jobs?
Nice truck.
Please tell me the person bending over the rifle isn't a JPD officer. No agency that wants to be taken seriously would allow an employee to have hair like that on duty. It's a huge risk in a physical struggle.
Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "Someone has a case of the Mondays."
Why have seat covers (on cloth seats) if you keep your truck that nasty anyway?
@11:54
I absolutely agree. And if we gifted these perps with some training (lessons somewhere, you know, the best) most of them would quickly be eliminated. Ultimately the current problem of peripheral damage would be gone, and law enforcement would have fewer to focus on. Win win.
It should buff out.
@5:15
It is 2024 and you can’t discriminate based on hair.
You also can’t force fast food workers to wear hairnets.
Clearly this individual is aware of the risks.
You just don’t like the appearance.
Why KF permitted your clearly biased comment is the real question.
Who cares if it was the Water Crew or the Tree Trimmers that lit the guy up. My take from the story is that if Tree Trimmers and Water Crews are arming themselves when they have to work in the Jackson City limits, then Jackson should be required to post signs at their city limits, warning people " Enter at your own risk." And to the guy who was asking Kingfish why he had to post the photos ? Well, sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. And these photos are proof that Jackson just had an " O.K. Corral " shootout, just in case some City Official tried to deny it in the future.
@ 5:15. Its a weave. It would be like the old tear away jerseys in the NFL.
@5:15- do you think white women don’t have long hair that can be pulled?? I guarantee you would not have made that comment if that was a picture of me with my long blonde hair… Regardless, my guess is that’s a detective who is not out on patrol duty.
You also can’t force fast food workers to wear hairnets.
RE: food service ... INCORRECT
Back when I was in Afghanistan my daughter sent me a photo of a sign at a gas station- "Welcome To Jackson Mississippi. $5 Off A Tank Of Gas If You Get Shot". They'd go outta business nowadays...
