Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement yesterday.
This afternoon, November 1, 2020, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department received a call that a threat to McLaurin High School was made on social media. The sheriff’s office, along with officials from the Rankin County School District acted quickly to assess the threat and identify those responsible for the threat. All three juvenile suspects were identified and shortly thereafter taken into custody. They will be transported to the Rankin County Juvenile Detention Center where they will appear before Rankin County Youth Court Judge Tom Broome.
The safety of our children is the top priority for the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and the Rankin County School District. The quick actions of deputies and school district officials helped to make sure that our schools continue to be a safe place to learn and grow. Extra deputies will be in and around the McLaurin schools in the coming days as an extra precaution and to show the commitment of the RCSO and RCSD to the safety of our children.

Thank you Bryan and Rankin S.O. Deputies For a job well done and keeping our kids and grandkids safe.
More proof that juveniles shouldn't be allowed to have smart phones. Social media and juveniles are a recipe for mischief.
Last week, there were some car break in in reunion subdivision in Madison. Madison PD had them arrested in a matter of hours. Jackson PD can’t solve numerous murders. Where do you think these and other felons are going to practice I chosen fields of crime?
These HS kids know right from wrong. They need to be adjudicated as adults. Since they want to play big boy games they should play under big boy rules. Actions have consequences.
"More proof that juveniles shouldn't be allowed to have smart phones." More proof that parents need to be involved and supervise Missy and Jr who have been allowed to have a Smart Phone. Make the parents financially responsible for their angels action as well. You give a kid a weapon or car while in their tender need to learn years, you be responsible to teach them how to use the weapon and/or car.
"Social media and juveniles are a recipe for mischief." I know many so called adults who have become addicts to Social Media as well. This is why I and my flip phone stay out of trouble. No idea if Social Media can be brought up on a flip phone and don't care to find out.
8:18 - what a totally irrational post. Comparing Madison PD solving car break-ins to Jackson PD solving murders is totally asinine; one has nothing to do with the other. I'm no fan of Jackson city government, but if you can't make an intelligent post, just stay off.
8:18... I can speak from experience that JPD is not the problem in Jackson. It is the do nothing judges that attend to the revolving door for criminals to be "Blessed", as well as the lack of true leadership from the elected officials. More times than not, JPD catches or at least identifies the perpetrator, only to have them granted low bonds or see the charges remanded to file.
I'm only glad that we were able to have Judge Weill preside over our matter, and make sure that the killers were held responsible.
What is even the point of such a vague press release? It is understandable to not name the juveniles. But why not give more details than simply saying a "threat"? Was it a satanic threat to commit a mass shooting? Was it radical white supremacist Trump Supporters? Was it gang related?
Multiple proposals at 8:58 that are patently unconstitutional.
Those were not "break-ins" at Reunion, not one of them. According to MCSO, every vehicle was UNLOCKED, and many had FIREARMS in them.
How reckless and irresponsible can one get?
Why are people still leaving weapons in unlocked vehicles at their homes? The days are long gone when we slept with unlocked doors and left vehicles unlocked. Why in God's name are we leaving firearms in vehicles, let along unlocked vehicles.
Surprised Kingfish isn’t demanding to know the race of the accused. He usually freaks out when it’s not stated.
"Multiple proposals at 8:58 that are patently unconstitutional." Please point them out and tell us oh wise one, why.
Because they are juveniles, knucklehead
But this knucklehead says it can happen and does. a 16 yo in Madison County was recently adjudicated for shooting into a dwelling, as an example.
