The Mississippi Development Authority issued the following statement.
Amazon will launch a new, state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Madison County, creating more than 1,000 new, full-time jobs, with industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits. This fulfillment center will be the first facility in the state to feature Amazon’s innovative robotics technology.
“The fact that Amazon has chosen to invest in Mississippi again is a testament to the unmatched work ethic and dedication Mississippians exhibit each day," said Gov. Tate Reeves. "We are well-positioned to be a leader in logistics, and I want to thank the leadership in Madison County and at Amazon for bringing more than 1,000 jobs to the area.”
The fulfilment center, which will be located at the Madison County Mega Site, will be Amazon’s third Mississippi fulfillment center. The facility will be at least four stories and will house the majority of the sortable goods sold by Amazon. Associates will pick, pack and ship customers’ orders alongside robots, allowing for a more efficient process that will enable Amazon to more efficiently meet consumer demand.
“Mississippi is a great state for business and gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers in the region,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon’s vice president of global customer fulfillment. “We are excited for our future in the magnolia state and for what this means for our customers as we continue to grow. We’d also like to thank local and state leaders for their strong support in making this project possible.”
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for infrastructure needs. Madison County also is assisting with the project.
“Amazon’s significant investment and creation of 1,000 jobs in Madison County presents tremendous opportunity for Central Mississippi and the entire state. As a globally renowned leader in the e-commerce and technology industries, Amazon’s decision to locate a third fulfillment center in Mississippi places our state in the world’s spotlight and lets other industry leaders know we are a great place for business,” said MDA Interim Director John Rounsaville. “MDA appreciates the hard work of the Madison County Economic Development Authority and the Madison County Board of Supervisors, which has been instrumental in bringing these new jobs to our great state.”
“Madison County is elated that Amazon chose our community for its 700,000-square-foot robotics fulfillment center,” said Madison County Supervisors Karl Banks. “We would like to thank Gov. Tate Reeves and the Mississippi Development Authority for their support of this project. It will provide the necessary public utilities, including a new 1-million-gallon water tank located within the park in support of the Amazon facility. The state of Mississippi and Madison County working together are the reason for today’s success."
The new fulfillment center is expected to be operational by 2021, and the company plans to fill the 1,000 jobs in time for the 2021 peak holiday shopping season.

How fortunate that Madison County does NOT have an "AOC" idiot to run off Amazon.....and its' employment opportunities.
Welcome Amazon.
1:28PM... you do realize that Amazon ended up conceding to AOC's requirements and still ended up building in her district right?
Imagine hating the working class as much as you do.
I'm sending my robot down there now to get a robot job application. for ... you know ..... the robot thing. come on man
Ya'll reckon Lumumba and company are scratching their heads wondering why Amazon isn't setting up shop in good ol' Jacktown.
1:48 - A quick Google search indicates Amazon opened a delivery station (otherwise known as a warehouse) in AOC's district, not the second corporate HQ as originally planned. That went to VA.
"unmatched work ethic". It is so unmatched around the Canton area that in order to get 1,000 half-way intelligent people who will show up to work and on time, Amazon will be hiring folks from 100 miles away.
Woo, hoo, this will mean 1-2 day delivery, or even same day in some cases. Win!
This isn't breaking news. This was reported in the Madison County Journal about a month ago.
@2:49. I know Truly is scratching his pate thinking about how he missed this opportunity.
@3:02. Just mirrors Nissan's work force with the majority traveling 50+ miles for some. The issue is not just intelligence, but people who actually want work. Shame this happens to Canton. Between Kenny Wayne, Fred Esco and Truly running for Mayor (so far), we should have a comical time up here.
On another note, the place is beginning to take shape nicely. At the intersection of Nissan Parkway and Rt 22 West right at the city limits sign (city PD will get to work all the wrecks. and hopefully MDOT will put up traffic lights). Come on by and take a look.
Amazon pay and benefits are going to force Nissan and it's suppliers to up their game.
They are going to immediately force Cardinal Health and Levi's to raise wages and benefits, it's a big win for the working made in Madison. With fair minded employers you don't have to have unions
Turn MetroCenter into an Amazon DC. Infrastructure is already set, good access to interstates for the truck drivers too.
Amazon is notorious for low pay and AWFUL working conditions. They probably have good benefits, I wouldn't doubt that, but they have extremely high turnover because it's essentially a sweatshop. Imagine having a timed 10 minute bathroom break per 8 hour shift when you are on your feet the entire time.
And to think the major players who built this were not from mississippi. Well, maybe a few, but let’s just say this want a win win for mississippi. Why in the world would they locate in madison? That’s not a blue collar community. Hell they hate blue collars
" it's essentially a sweatshop. "
Well, hard work, fair wages, and sweat . . . are what made this country great.
AOC and her goofy (squad) will make things better for you.
In my best Mr. Roger's voice, "Can you say Venezuela" ?
"Sure, . . . I knew you could"
"Hugo Chávez is our neighbor"
Gluckstadt is going to boom!
Thanks to all who worked together to make this happen.
More news soon........
Canton - y’all jealous!???
Product shortage will force the closure of the warehouse in under a year.
Does this mean I get my toilet paper droned to me in under an hour in gluckstadt?!
It’s only a win if they supply Lysol Aerosol.
Amazon has the worst safety record in the country.
And if you complain, you get fired.
Tate is full of shat to suggest this is a testament to the dynamic local workforce. Folks will be driving in from Attala, Grenada, Yazoo, Warren, Hinds and Rankin counties.
Gluckstadt, already becoming the state's next Pearl, will be gaining a Waffle House, another truck stop and a Cracker Barrel. 55 will be even more of a nightmare, but more jobs, more people working, more families having paychecks is a damned good thing for all concerned. Win Win.
@6:54 PM - It will be located in Madison County, but a Canton address. 1978 Highway 22, Canton, MS 39046
2:49 PM, great question!
It’s really, really easy for Billionaire globalist ruling class wanna be Bezos to “SAY” and “POST” that BLACK LIVES MATTER, but when it comes TO PROVING HE/BEZOS REALLY CARES ABOUT BLACK LIVES, he doesn’t build in the very cities where the most black deaths are, and help stimulate the economies and provide much needed jobs that would lower crime and save “Black Lives,” he does what lines his pockets the most (got to get that Trillion Dollar Net Worth, need more mansions, jet airplanes and luxury yachts to water ski behind and ruin the environment with).
4:14, not sure if Metro Center could have worked but even if it would have, see response to 2:49 above for the reason this “location” was not an option for the Racist Billionaire globalist ruling class wanna be Bezos (way, way too BLACK for Bezos).
REPUBLICANS had better WAKE UP and get off of their DON’T TAX THE RICH HIGH HORSE and get ready to go after these Billionaires, because the Billionaire globalist ruling class wanna be’s, are coming after Republicans!
"Canton - y’all jealous!???" Gotta have a brain to be jealous. Canton just doesn't get it and never will with it's current inability to realize what the problem is. Really surprised why Madison County seat hasn't been moved as of yet.
I'd be willing to bet not two in one hundred of Canton's LOAFERS will seek, much less find, employment at this place. In fact, it's my thought that the average employee commute will be 27 miles.
The Honorable Doctor William Truly, Mayor, has created the new Canton.
Thank God we got rid of that racist Dixie state flag that was holding us back. Now we can compete for more stuff like this! Let the good times roll!
