Kingston Frazier suspect posts bond.

Update: Wakefield posted bond and is no longer in custody.

Madison County Circuit Judge Bill Chapman set bond for Dwan Wakefield, Jr. at $275,000.  Wakefield is charged with capital murder in the death of 6-year-old Kingston Frazier.  He was denied bond at a June preliminary hearing.  Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker's website states that he is still incarcerated.

Attorney Tom Fortner represented Wakefield at the preliminary hearing.  Judge Chapman held a conference today.  Madison-Rankin District Attorney Michael Guest opposing giving a bond to Wakefield but Judge Chapman granted the bond.  The other two suspects, Byron McBride, Jr. and DeAllen Washington remain in jail without bond.

The case has not yet been submitted to the grand jury.

Is the one whose daddy was on TV saying 'Ain't no way my boy done this'? The rules say bail can't be punitive but is only to ensure appearance at the next phase in the process. Hope this works out. The problem is moving the process forward and not delaying for two more years.

WLBT says he's released

I wonder if he has family or friends who will put up the bond money. Will he abide by the bond requirements if he is released?

There should be a "go fund me" page for all three suspects to make bond. Then let their own take care of them. Rinse and repeat. Save the State a ton of money on the cost of their incarceration.

Somebody coughed up some serious green.

Hopeful street justice take effect! I wonder how long until he is locked up again for a new crime ?

$25k for a shot at him? If it was my kid? Grandchild? Nephew? Deal!

Dwan Wakefield didn’t pull the trigger. Why is he even being charged with capital murder? He should be held accountable for his role in this, but why charge him with murder when he didn’t actually do it. David Guest has some splainin to do.

Anonymous said...

Guest does not have some splainin to do. You have some research on the law to do.

well- there's the animal thug who pulled the trigger. were the other two in the car with Kingston? I don't remember but it would seem like if this one was never in the car with kingston, and only the driver on the drug deal, that he's not connected to the murder at all. can someone put up the timeline?

it is possible he wasn't involved in the murder at all and just friends with a subhuman being that old sparky needs to fry.

@10:13 Who is David Guest?

Based on what has been publicly reported, it sounds like the right charge for him is accessory after the fact.

Based on what I've seen, this guy has some guilt and needs to be punished accordingly. But I don't see capital murder. I think bond is probably fair at this point.

Which no lawyer “judge” was it this time?Who is county prosecutor? Her/his duty to represent State in Justice Court.
DAguest should’ve known sooner about the preliminary hearing/ bond reduction hearing set by Justice court clerks. Pretty simple process actually, even in Canton.

Seems like David Guest should have put up more of a fight to keep that thug in jail.

I'm gonna guess that 'david' guest commentator and 'what no lawyer judge' are the same uninformed person. Judge Chapman is actually a lawyer and a judge.

@8:33 huh?
Case is in CC not JC, right?

Anyway, who are defense lawyers who negotiated this sweet deal??

Why the hell is justice court handling something so serious?

I guess if you have 28k to blow, having your friend/relative not sit in jail might be worth it. But, for most people, that is an extraordinary amount of money to spend so that someone can not be in jail while they await trial. It's one thing if they posted the full amount and are going to get it back. But, to pay the bond that you don't get back? That's a hefty price for most people to pay.

I saw in one news report where his dad is a bail bondsman. So more than likely he didn’t put up the entire $27.5k to get him out.

Maybe Al Sharpton posted the bond? Not many folks can afford the bond. If he skips bail or acts the fool by getting into criminal trouble, that person or persons will be out the money. I sure hope it was worth it.

The wakefield kid dad a bailbonds man, didnt do nothing but sign the papaer.. But kingston family was not notified.. Some under table dealing..

I'd like to know the restrictions in place.

I'm scratching my head wondering how any judge cannot see that this young man is a danger to society if for nothing more than his own safety.

Wakefield's aunt posted something weird on Facebook stating that Kingston's mother left the car running by the gas station close to Frontage Road. That is an abnormally long distance to the Kroger entrance on foot to not have second thoughts about leaving an unlocked car running. I hope that it's not true.

So if Washington was neither the driver nor participated in cell phone communication, is the only reasons he hasn't been offered bond is prior armed robbery, not cooperating with the current investigation, and a lack of funds?

These bondsmen today will put you on a payment plan so he would come up with just a pittance to get out

Quit calling this asshat a 'young man'.

PS: The mother is the one who should be in jail.

If bail can't be punitive, how is Dale Danks able to get away with million dollar bail in Madison?

Anonymous said...

Danks sets some bullshit bond and the circuit court lowers it. That's how.

Anonymous said...

Any information about charges against the negligent and reckless mother?

Ole judge chapy has denied bond for lesser crimes. Bottom line he doesn't care about Kingston and justice for his death, this proves it along with him going against Guest's recommendation. Madison County is notorious for over-sentencing which then feeds our states mass incarceration epidemic, but that's another blog. Kingston is gone. I hope justice prevails in the end.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
