Attorney General Jim Hood issued the following statement.
Third Suit Settled in Epps Scandal
JACKSON—Attorney General Jim Hood announced today that the state of Mississippi has settled its claims with Sentinel Offender Services, L.L.C. for $1,300,000.00. Sentinel provides inmate electronic monitoring services.
“As a company that continues to contract with the state, Sentinel Offender Services agreed to cooperate and settle the case for $1.3 million on a $2 million contract,” said General Hood. “We successfully disgorged them of their ill-gotten profit and then some.”
To date, the Attorney General has recovered $5,800,000.00 on behalf of Mississippi taxpayers related to the MDOC prison bribery scandal.
This settlement ends the third of 11 civil actions the attorney general filed on February 8, 2017, accusing 10 individuals and 12 out-of-state corporations of using alleged “consultants” as conduits to pay bribes and kickbacks to then-Commissioner Epps for the awarding and retention of MDOC contracts—all while defrauding the state through a pattern of misrepresentation, fraud, concealment, money laundering, and other wrongful conduct arising from the Epps bribery scandal.

Conway done good.
Why in the hell would the state still contract with proven criminals?
Where are these funds deposited? general fund?
Ole Tater said this morning that Hood likes to sue businesses which discourages businesses in MS....so the AG shouldn't go after businesses that take advantage of taxpayers?
Screw Tate.
He’s a plump bowl of jealous gruel.
He’s worried to death Trump is gonna ooze all over his future...and leave him sitting in Florence chasing chickens.
Tater also said (on Gallo yesterday) that he opposes a lottery. His crystal ball tells him the money that will be spent on lottery chances is already being spent in the Mississippi economy anyway. Where does he get that? The guy is boring, self-obsessed, arrogant and delusional.
To 10:19. A little 101 remedial legal primer to answer your question. Making a business decision to settle a nuisance civil lawsuit happens every day and does not make someone a criminal. The criminal who committed the fraud has plead guilty, has been convicted and is sitting in jail where he belongs.
Crazy that Department of Corrections is still wanting to do business with this company.
