JPD issued the following statements.
Auto Zone robbery
Jackson Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Auto Zone in the 3000 block of McDowell Rd Ext.
Shortly after 8:00pm, 2 black males entered the store, each armed with handguns. They then ordered the customers to the floor while they demanded money from the register. The register drawer was taken which contained an undetermined amount cash.
Both suspects were wearing all dark clothing with dark colored marks. They later fled on foot in an unknown direction.
There are surveillance cameras but it is unknown at this point if the robbery was captured. No one was injured during the incident.
This is still an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police.
Family Dollar
Jackson Police are investigating a business robbery at the Family Dollar in the 500 block of Nakoma Dr.
Shortly before 8:30pm, three masked black males armed with handguns entered the store and ordered the customers to move towards one side. The suspects then demanded money from the cashier. One of the suspects went behind the counter, took the cash drawer and all three later fled the store running westward with an undetermined amount of cash.
Two of the suspects wore dark clothing and the other wore a lighter colored warmup suit.
No one was injured during the incident. The store has surveillance and Investigators are attempting to review the footage.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police.
Silas Brown Street Shooting
Jackson Police are investigating a shooting that happened near the Family Dollar on University Blvd.
Shortly after 7:00pm,
Officers responded to the Family Dollar where they found a 32-year-old
male suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim told
Officers that he had been shot down the street from the business by
someone in a dark colored
vehicle while he was behind a nearby church. The victim was able to
walk to the Family Dollar where he was able to get help.
Officers canvassed the area but was not able to locate the primary
scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital with what
appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.
