The Madison Police Department issued the following statement.
Suspicious Items Located at Madison Residence
On Monday, November 6, 2017, at approximately 12:15 PM, the Madison Police Department received information regarding a homeowner who had located suspicious, possibly explosive items in her residence on Woodland Drive in Madison.
Members of the Madison Police and Fire Departments responded and upon arrival and meeting with the resident observed three potentially explosive items resembling pipe bombs in the resident’s kitchen. The residence was evacuated along with residences adjacent to, behind, and across the street from the home.
Members of the F.B.I. and Clinton Bomb squads were contacted and responded to the scene to further investigate and evaluate the items. Emergency medical personnel from the Pafford Ambulance service were also on the scene as a precaution.
Further interview with the homeowner determined she was cleaning out her garage when she observed what appeared to be the explosive devices. She secured the devices in a Styrofoam cooler moved them to the kitchen and contacted a family friend. The friend then contacted the police department.
At 1:55 PM members of the Clinton Bomb Squad removed the items from the residence and destroyed them in the front yard.
Persons living in the residence stated they had no prior knowledge of the items. One family member could not be interviewed as he had previously passed away approximately a year ago. The matter is being investigated further by the Madison Police Department with further assistance from the F.B.I., A.T.F. and the Clinton Bomb Squad.

Pipe bombs. Dog fighting. Makeup robberies. All in the last week.
Did Madison think they were going to be the first city in the world to grow dramatically and not have an increase in crime? More people, more money, more crime.
"One family member could not be interviewed as he had previously passed away approximately a year ago"
....what?
According to CL, the dead family member was the husband of the woman who lives there. She said he as former military and had PTSD and cancer.
This is important criminal activity. I don't think Mary Mary is going to allow someone to avoid police interrogation by dying.
The dog fighting ring was in CANTON. That hellhole has ALWAYS been "A little New Orleans" - and not in a good way.
By the way, there's a new "adopted" Pittie on Lisa Circle in Madison. Its owners routinely lose consciousness, for a number of reasons, and the precious wigglebutt WILL eventually get loose. So, the joggers, elderly walkers, and cyclists who routinely use that street, need to know that it's only a matter of time, until....
I would hate to have my daughter dragged off her mini-motorcycle and mutilated.
@ 1:39pm You are the epitome of what my dear grandmother called a "worry wart".
This has to be related to the McDaniel campaign from a few years ago.
I can't wait to buy a Mercedes Benz so I can drive it to the local dog fights while my kid plays in the garage and builds stuff in Madison. Same stuff we did when we were kids down on Ellis and McDowell, just a new generation of the same lineage.
12:45 post of the day
@1:39 - What do you actually know about Canton? I've lived in Canton all my 60 years on this earth. I could have moved south to Mother Maryville back when land was cheap but chose not to. The Queen Mother herself and her brother Prince Lee were born and raised in Canton.
Every municipality in Madison county has its bad traits. Canton, Madison, Ridgeland, Flora. Hell, you probably bitch about MCBOS if you live outside any of them.
The dog fighting ring was out in the county not in the city limits of Canton.
Maybe, he was a Prepper (Survivalist) & he was stocking up on self defense & survival supplies before the big day happens. More of us need to prep for survival before the big day? You buy auto, home, life, mortgage, health, dental, identity Insurance. Why not spending a little money on freeze dried food, 6"x 3 inch diameter treaded pipe with caps on both ends & some smokeless gun powder & cannon fuse?
remember when people used to think a city line would stop crime? or that just by being in madison or rankin county that crime would not happen? time to gate up those faux chateau neighborhoods..
Where is Micah when you need him.
Pipe bombs, Dog fighting!!! That's how we roll in Madison! We got perverts too!
How stupid do you have to be to see something that you think is a pipe bomb and, instead of immediately backing away and calling the cops/bomb squad, you pick it up and put it in a styrofoam cooler?
"Looks like dog shit, smells like dog shit, tastes like dog shit - good thing we didn't step in it!"
There is one reality about city lines, though. You can bet your nickel ass that there will be either two or three police cars on site any time you see blue lights. Take it to the bank. You will not see that anywhere else in this state. You can get away with shit in your house, but not on the streets of Madison. Book that shit, Danno!
Costco. Robbery at Renaissance. Dogfighting. Pipe bombs. ...jackson is looking better and better. Madison is sinking like a lead balloon
Good googly moogly, you NEED a "like" function KF. Thanks 39211
39211 - Nobody got killed in a Renaissance robbery; that only happens in Jackburg. No deaths resulted from the pipe bomb discovery; those things only happen in Jackistan. Nobody has died at Costco since its not open and shoppers from Jackson are not yet on site.
Welcome to the lead balloon of Madison where no severed-heads have been discovered on porches, no girls have been shot dead at intersections, no visiting tournament participants have been robbed and murdered and there are zero iron bars on gas station windows. Plus, our police force doesn't sit idly by and watch other jurisdictions chase criminals through our town. They will pursue and arrest your ass for almost nothing. Try us - You'll like us.
30211, please sober-up as much as you can, before you post. I know you're only getting pennies-per-post, and the person paying you for your trolling probably does so out of pity. But still: you COULD get canned, if you get too sloppy.
39211, Costco will be in RIDGELAND - not Madison. Renaissance is in RIDGELAND - not Madison. The dogfighting happened "out in the county" - not in Madison.
Madison has so many banks, spas, and posh clinics, you'd think you were in Switzerland. And not only are the police lightening-fast in their response, but the place is full of retired elite military/law enforcement. Do something wrong, and you'll be lucky if the police get to you, before Madison's private citizens do.
I don't think you'd be very happy here. I think you'd be happiest and safest, staying right there in FFNEJ.
