11:15 AM Update:
Approximately 5:15 p.m., Friday, February 19, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic situation at a residence at 231 CR 201. A man, his wife and 10-year-old daughter were in the house when deputies arrived. The situation escalated to a stand-off when the man refused to comply with officers’ instructions to come out of the residence. The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) troopers and agents from Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics (MBN) responded at the request of the Tishomingo County Sheriff.
After nearly six hours and negotiations were exhausted, two combined tactical teams from MHP and MBN entered the home. Upon entry, shots were fired between the man and law enforcement officers and MBN Agent Lee Tartt and the male suspect were killed. Additionally, three state troopers who entered the home were wounded.
The suspect is identified as 45-year-old Charles Lee Lambert. The woman and 10-year-old girl were rescued safely. The high-powered rifle Lambert used was also recovered from inside the house.
MBI agents, Crime Scene technicians, members of the Criminal Reconstruction Unit, State Crime Lab forensic scientists and the State Medical Examiner are conducting an investigation of the incident.

RIP my brother!
Lee Tartt was a great man who spent his life giving back to the citizens of Grenada and north Mississippi. So many young law enforcement officers learned from him and even joined the force thanks to Lee's influence. He was a great presence for all who knew him.
Lambert's photo appears to be a mug shot. Was he out on bond? Another candidate for public execution who stole the opportunity from us.
unclear why mbn working a domestic-violence call
Another officer dies in the line of duty. This madness needs to stop. Prayers for the family.
1:59 - it's a driver license photo (background color and DL# across the bottom).
4:34 - locals without the assets to handle tactical or hostage/barricade situations can call the state (MHP/MBN) for assistance, they also have FBI-trained negotiators.
Now let's dispense with the picky questions and say a prayer for the Agent's family.
Gosh, here I was, expecting to see this blog post and comments littered with the word thug and a quick delve into Mr. Lambert's Facebook postings. That dang old culture, rearing its head again.
Another thug with a gun.
Yep, there ya go. Damned Guns!
Another second amendment redneck kills a hero.
Give him a fair trial before we hang him.
The suspect was killed. There will be no trial for the dead man.
What was the perp doing that necessitated an armed invasion of his home? Serious question as I don't know the facts of the situation. Was he a danger to anyone if they just kept him contained to the house? Was he was threatening his wife or child? Given the outcome, I think this was handled poorly.
11:07, exactly, you don't know the facts of the situation - so wait for the facts to be revealed; and if the facts are problematic to you, by all means start whining. But it seems that you've already made your mind up with less than all of the facts, so do us all a favor and stay home on election day...
The decision to breach is never taken lightly and always based on imperfect intelligence. My guess is that none of the commenters here have never had to make a life or death decision, or placed others' safety in their charge during a potentially hostile situation. My guess is also that none of the commenters here were at the scene and have no idea of the totality of the circumstances at hand.
Please show some dignity as we mourn the loss of a man who had the bravery to risk his life for the safety of your state and hope for the full recovery of those injured, and have some confidence in the decisions made by law enforcement.
