Stokes raises hell

Jackson Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth Stokes protested again yesterday.  The chase of a stolen car by Richland police into Jackson fueled his ire.  Richland police pursued a stolen car into Jackson.  The chase ended at Mcluer Road but a vehicle carrying a grandmother, mother, and two children was struck.  A Hinds County deputy wrecked his patrol car as well.  Watch Kenneth for yourself.

Now we know. Kennuf equates stealing a vehicle and fleeing police with stealing bubble gum.

There was another chase of a stolen car last night that started within Jackson and resulted in a crash. Why is Kennuf silent on this one?

Thank goodness Victor Mason seems to be the voice of reason in this matter.

For the record, I lived on McCluer Road for some 27 years. What I can tell you is that it is NOT some quiet street in a close neighborhood with children playing in the steet. It is a thoroughfare between Terry Road and Siwell Road. The average speed on this road is 55 miles per hour. I don't care what speed limit is posted. I drove it everyday and have seen many a wreck. One teenage driver was killed years ago when he was speeding and hit a tree at the top of a hill. The residents on McCluer Road have lost many a dog and cat on this road because of the speeding. Police certainly set up in the entrance to Forrest Hill Ball Park and try to slow everyone down but it only lasts as long as they are there. SO MR. STOKES DO NOT TRY TO MAKE THIS ROAD THE ONE YOU CRUSADE ON BECAUSE EVERYONE WHO LIVES ON MCCLUER KNOW BETTER. This chase would only fit in with the current traffic pattern.

The whole deal of "old folks or children playing in the streets" now amounts to a community culture that #1, Children are entitled to play there and you must always stop or slowly drive around them. And, #2, The same culture has such disregard for sirens and LEO that they intentionally clog the streets to slow and hinder any pursuit efforts by cops. These kids are not taught as soon as you hear sirens to get WAY BACK from the traffic - but to run out in front and challenge authority.

Kenny Stokes protects criminals.

Here's a thought at each of these choke points street where Rankin Co goes to Hinds Co, or Flowood or Pearl or Madison or Clinton turns into Jackson. Develop and build what looks like a railroad cross with lights and such, but better yet be a automatic barrier slash spike strip. Police can relay to dispatch to deploy the barrier or spike strip remotely.

Hell set it up 100 yards before the line...problem solved.

Anonymous said...

Right On! You tell them Kenneth! What if, just suppose, not saying it will ever happen, but should 'Ridgeland' give car chase amnesty if I made it north across County Line? Little crimes, armed car jacking, hit and run, knocking a bicycle into the ditch, not worth the risk of pursuit. Come out for this and I will support you....

Anonymous said...

@9:45
Exactly! Your stats reinforce what Kennuf is saying. If the surrounding cities would let the Jackson scum continue to commit crimes in their cities unpunished, then citizens would abandon those cities, thus reducing their demographics to that of Jackson. Kennuf's work is not to bring Jackson up to the level where it should be, but rather to reduce the surrounding areas to the same squalor as Jackson.

Kenny Stokes the human embodiment of the corrosive, lead lined, failed, Flint, MI River and public works system.

It's large, it's racist, it's sweaty, it's some else fault...it's good enough for Ward 3.

Anonymous said...

9:45, I'm struggling to see the relevance of poverty and unemployment levels or household income to the question of whether cops should go on police chases for shoplifters. Maybe you're saying that Jackson residents are poor, so it does not matter. Shame. Also, it's funny that you're basing Richland's statistics on "per 100,000 people" when Richland only has 7,000 people. A little academic honesty would go a long way.

Anonymous said...

Kenneth is Brer Rabbit wanting his people to get back to the briar patch.

Anonymous said...

The next step will be for PD's and Sherriff's Departments in surrounding communities to stop lending any support to Jackson and JPD and for the State to follow suit. Which will be unfortunate to JPD and Jacksonians.

Anonymous said...

Academic honesty would be relevant if we were in school.

Anonymous said...

This fat dumb ass can't even correctly pronounce half of what he tries to say.

Why should we, in surrounding safe counties, have to tolerate the invasion of thugs from the third-world cesspool that is Jackson? Stokes needs to focus on his own little crime-infested hell hole and shut the hell up about what LEOs from other Jurisdiction are having to do to keep the damn thugs out of our communities.

He mentions a lawsuit - typical liberal BS - take someone else's money when you can't produce your own.

Anonymous said...

Couple of things the people in Stokes part of the city should learn.
A street isn't a playground. It was made for vehicles, not kids and old people to walk on or play on. Is there anyone in Jackson who knows what a side walk is for?
Stokes knows if all of the criminals in his little part of the cesspool were caught there wouldn't be enough people to elect his sorry ass.

I thought he didn't want pursuits into the City of Jackson when it was a misdemeanor. Wasn't this Grand Theft Auto?

I know the answer, he can't let the facts get in the way of his narrative.

It's sad because he is re-elected time and time again.

Anonymous said...

A DOJ investigation would be pointless. Until someone actually throws a rock, Stokes' speech is protected.

Surrounding counties should just stop assisting JPD. Hinds SO should stop serving warrants for them; RPD should stop picking up JPD's slack on county line. I wouldn't mind seeing Hinds SO put a furlough on housing JPD inmates at Raymond. Eventually, the Jackson City counsel will start feeling the pressure and force Stokes out.

Anonymous said...

12:56, please give a detailed answer as to how the "Jackson City counsel [sic]" can "force Stokes out." I have a feeling that is not an option.

Anonymous said...

Sort of hard to force Stokes out when the majority of Jackson citizens agree with him.

Anonymous said...

1:47, you realize that he represents only one out of Jackson's seven wards, correct? The "majority of Jackson citizens" in other wards do not agree with him.

I hope none of the commenters on here become the VICTIMS of these senseless chases. Since it appears your ignorance won't allow you to see past your apparent disdain for Councilman Stokes, perhaps this little reality will help you see WHY Councilman Stokes is correct. Below are 2 cases within the last 4 days in the Atlanta area:

"A Norcross couple was killed Thursday after their vehicle was hit by a suspect being pursued by Johns Creek police into Gwinnett County on Peachtree Parkway." (www.ajc.com)

"For the second time in four days, innocent metro Atlantans were killed in a crash tied to a police chase. Sunday morning, a child was one of the two left dead.

Police and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office are investigating, respectively, the latest tragedy and the actions of the officers involved. A suspect believed to be driving a stolen SUV plowed into a car, killing the car’s two occupants, a 76-year-old woman and a boy of about 12, on a residential street in southwest Atlanta." (www.ajc.com)

his ward loves him. most of the people in Jackson do not-white or black. he does not care what anyone thinks because he is an official of the city of jackson until he retires or dies. he will win every ward 3 election he enters. period.

Anonymous said...

Well...it is apparent that, like it or not, this does seem to be a serious problem.

Maybe just have the City put up signs in blighted areas of Jackson:

"WARNING - HIGH SPEED CHASE AREA"

Or

"WARNING, YOUR NEIGHBOR MAY BE OUT STEALING IN A ADJACENT COUNTY. SHOULD HE GET CAUGHT IN PROGRESS, HE MAY DRIVE AT A RAPID RATE OF SPEED THROUGH YOUR HOUSE WHILE BE CHASED BY THE POLICE"

Anonymous said...

Stokes is a nut case, but he does have a point. Over 300 people were killed in police chases in 2014. Of those, 7 were innocent children. I cannot remember the number, but well over 100 were innocent bystanders. A car can be replaced. My family members including my grandchildren cannot.

I am a conservative Republican, but this time, Stokes is right.

Anonymous said...

Kennuf Scrotes goes on television blasting metro area law enforcement and the city council passes a resolution opposing police chases by outside jurisdictions. A low I.Q. thief might misinterpret that to mean that Jackson has outlawed police chases by metro area law enforcement. Now these Mensa alum think that all they have to do is make it to the Jackson city limits and they are free and clear. I think Scrotes and the Jackson city council are to blame for luring these police chases into their communities and they should be held accountable. Maybe if Kennuf and other city leaders would get on television and announce that criminals would be caught at all costs and punished to the fullest extent the law allows, maybe they could eliminate these dangerous encounters.

Anonymous said...

This could work if he would guarantee his citizens do not come
into the surrounding communities. As it its now, he wants them to
be able to commit crimes and be free when they get back to Jackson.

I have not heard anyone from Jackson complain about him so I suppose they are good with it.

Kenny's comment are stupid and show exactly how stupid he is and Ward 3 y'all elected this clown. Throw something at us, please do because if we feel threaten, then you know what's going to happen. You will get a nice memorial service and your family will shed some tears and maybe then Stokes will see what kind of idiot he is and what he has done. Stokes again for the record. Your criminals are not safe in Jackson, you can't protect them. You can get your towel out and wipe your face 100 times and act like you are making sense to the people, but sorry Jackson law does not override state law.

Anonymous said...

Some of you need to learn how to READ! Neither one of the 2 suspects that were chased were from Jackson. Actually, 1 was from Richland (Rankin County) and the other guy was from Crystal Springs. Based on your comments, it appears that chickens will come home to roost for some of you and then you will be on hear crying. It's sad that only 'certain' lives matter to most of you!

People seem to find it hard to understand. When a person breaks law and forces the police to chase them it is their fault if there is an accident.
Now, thanks to a poster we know criminals from other areas run for Jackson when the law gets too hot on them.
By now you would think people would learn to get out of the way when they hear sirens and see the blue lights.

when someone runs, regardless of the violation or even weak excuse that LE had to check them out, it has long been my view that something bad 'could be going down', the person 'fleeing' has a 'reason' not to stop. outrunning the law in automobiles I thought went away over 70 years ago with communications and tactics. hasn't change already occurred? will State Patrol give chase over a seat belt violation? I thought not now. Do not think this is good overall. do we learn of the times armed fleeing criminals actually shoot at police? methinks not.

4:35 pm, if you are dead, you won't be blaming anyone.

So, you are comfortable if your child, spouse, family member, friend, or loved one is killed in a police pursuit over stolen property that can might be recovered rather than wrecked and is insured if damaged or stolen? And, you don't know of any other way to catch a thief rather than to chase him down and put the lives of others at risk?

You are happy with paying funeral costs of your child or spouse that won't be reimbursed when the person who is robbed is getting his insurance check?

OK with you for your child or spouse to have to pay medical costs and possibly suffer life time scars and effects from their injuries should they survive for police to catch the guy who stole your car when you have been reimbursed and they never will be?

Someone's car is more valuable to you than a human life or altering the life of an innocent bystander forever?

You and several other commenters are the white versions of Stokes...ignorant and too blinded by hate and prejudice to be rational on any issue!

For the few who are not more interested in hating Stokes or Jackson, here are a few facts gathered by research on police pursuits done in Texas, Florida, Michigan and California and by the FBI. All research cited was done in the last 5 years.

40% of all police pursuits end in a crash.

1/3 of all pursuits reach or exceed speeds of 60mph

There is injury or death in 1 of every five pursuits.

1 in 7 police officers killed in the line of duty are killed in police pursuits

In 72% of pursuits, police lose control of the pursuit

50% of pursuits begin with a traffic offense
20% are pursuit of a stolen vehicle
20% are for leaving the scene of an accident
6% are for non-violent offenses or suspicion of offenses
1% are for violent crimes

I got a question that maybe someone could answer for me. With the economy like it is, with the way the weather has been (and I'm not sure where cherry production is mainly), just how much money does a professional cherry picker make? Inference through selective observation takes quite a bit of effort and one must go through pairs and pairs of muck boots due to standing in their own B.S.

Kingfish said...

Thing about stolen cars is they are often used to commit another crime. The value of the car is also usually a felony theft as well.

So if you run tags and see car is stolen, chances are its being used to commit other crimes.

I sat my family down and gave them some advice. If you hear sirens try looking up from your phone and get out of the street. If you see the blue lights move out of the way.
My family thought I had gone over the edge. Even my youngest child asked if I was alright.
I know it is unusual but they already knew to get out of the street when a car was coming. One of the smart asses even said something about common sense.
Wonder if it is the water in Jackson that causes such non sense or just the schools? Can't be the water as it don't work that often.

Although we'd prefer zero deaths from this, 300 in a country of 320 million is "A" price to pay for criminal control. Hopefully this will come down in the future.

Of our 320 million there are 2.3 in federal and state prisons... and no doubt, another 1 to 2 million waiting in line... IF WE CAN CATCH THEM.

Anonymous said...

8:52 am There isn't just one link. Each research site has their own link so search for the State and police pursuits. IF you bother to read ALL of the research and add the FBI stats, you will find that there is a commonality of statistical findings.

KF, that sounds rational until you read the research. Only 20% are stolen vehicle pursuits and of that, the majority are teens " joy riding" as we used to call it or first time offenders. The pros who steal cars, aren't going to be driving them around with the original plates!

Kingfish said...

True. However, here in Jackson, too many of the carjackers and armed robbers are teens and they are using stolen cars. So are the killers.

8:52 am There isn't just one link.

What is the difference in a teen stealing your car for a joy ride and a criminal stealing your car to chop?
To me there isn't any difference. Both are low life criminals.

Anonymous said...

Why is it that Kennuf is only addressing chases that start outside of Jackson and end up in Jackson? Are the pursuits that start and end inside Jackson inherently safer?

Anonymous said...

12:17. there just isn't that many chases in Jackson by Jackson police. I can remember seeing one a while back. Jackson cops were chasing a car north on Terry Road. Sirens and flashing lights going. The car being chased came to Hwy 80 and kept going north. The cop car chasing it got to Hwy 80 right behind it. The cop car suddenly turned off the lights and siren and took a right on Hwy 80.
Either the cops decided to quit chasing or decided they may be chasing one of their cop buddies. Either way the chase ended.

How do you think the leaders keep saying crimes are going down in Jackson? They have stopped trying to catch criminals. Crimes are actually up, it is the catching criminals that is at an all time low.

Anonymous said...

The phones at the JCVB are ringing off the damn hook with convention bookings. The nation's first Sanctuary City for fleeing criminals is a big draw. Jackson is going to need 3-4 new convention center hotels at this rate!

9:42 pm Two of the Jackson victims who died during police pursuits did pull over to try to get out of the way of the blue lights. They were parked. And, for a third, it was a high school girl who accepted a ride home ...good student, college bound... never occurred to her a guy she knew from school would have stolen the car. Your advice won't help.

Anonymous said...

10:29am Your math is a faulty. It's not the percentage of deaths in the entire population of a country that is relevant. It's the percentage of deaths and injuries as a result of police pursuits which is 20%.

If you put our entire population in proximity to a pursuit , it would be the equivalent of over 60 million people dying.

Anonymous said...

12:54 pm Or it could be the police you saw stop the chase got confirmation that the auto had an active GPS or active security GPS system.

If either of my cars are stolen, they can be located and that includes the one that didn't come with built in GPS devices.

I'd be interested in knowing the makes and models of the stolen cars in recent pursuits. It may be the pursuit was completely unnecessary.

And, if it were unnecessary, I expect the innocent victims would have a pretty good law suit against the city of those police in the pursuit.

Anonymous said...

Since you can buy a GPS tracker for your vehicle at Sears or Walmart for under $50 to locate your car if it's stolen , I'm not sympathetic to anyone who thinks innocent bystander and police lives need to be at risk to recover your vehicle or arrest the criminals who stole it.

Your youngest child can install it for you!

Kingfish said...

So when should police chase a stolen car?

Anonymous said...

To 6:31,6:49,7:08,7:20 (same person)

GPS MAY help find your car after it's stolen.

However, it's most unlikely that when carjacked or stolen right in front of you that police are able to immediately make the connections you think automatically happen. I suppose you feel the officer must first call ON-STAR or your SEARS or Walmart people as they turn on their blue lights. Even IF they knew which to call, that's asinine.

Your armchair policing is not a reality.

Let me explain my experience with a stolen car in Jackson.

Car was stolen around 5AM, reported stolen at 6AM. According to police it was found abandoned on a Jackson street at around noon that same day. It took 3 days to find out where the stolen car was taken. We were finally notified that it was in the impound lot. Had to take title to police station before we were allowed to get car. When we went to pick up the car we found it had 3 tires ruined along with other damage. As we were leaving to go pick up some tires the man in charge of the impound lot stopped us and said wait a few minutes until the cop leaves. After the cop left the attendant offered to sell us 3 tires including wheels off of any car in the impound lot for $20 each. I loaned the owner of the car $80 and he picked out a matching set of tires on another impounded car and put them on his car. We paid the attendant and left.

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
