Brandi Barnett and Crystal Martin settled their catfight in federal court last week. Ms. Barnett was the girlfriend of deceased attorney Precious Martin. He was killed in an ATV accident in May 2014 in Ridgeland. Mr. Martin had purchased a $500,000 life insurance policy and stated Ms. Barnett was to be the beneficiary. Mrs. Martin sued the insurance company in U.S. District Court for the insurance policy proceeds. Ms. Barnett sued State Farm and Mrs. Martin. Mrs. Martin then sued Ms. Barnett for alienation of affection. The case went downhill from there. Court documents state the case settled last week:
Minute Entry for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Linda R. Anderson: Settlement Conference held on 11/6/2015 in Jackson, MS. Appearances: Crystal Wise Martin, Chuck McRae, Robert Norris and Brandi Barnett. Court conducted settlement negotiations between the parties and the case was resolved. Order of Dismissal to be submitted to Judge Wingate. (WG)The terms of the settlement are sealed. The details of the cases are published in these earlier posts.

sooooooooooooo, in Hinds County designated beneficiaries don't mean dodo squat?
You're assuming Crystal Martin received some of the money. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. Barnett might of been able to put up a good fight and win, but it would of been costly. Easier to pay off the wife, especially since you're the one nailing her husband. Barnett would of never won in the court of pubic opinion.
Getting nailed by the husband. Not nailing the husband. Huge difference theses days.
I thought they were in state court
There was an eviction lawsuit or something like that in state court but from what I understand, everything was settled.
Perhaps Barnett was able to avoid an alienation of affection lawsuit. I can't think of any other reason she would entertain a settlement.
