The real story on campaign finance is the fact that three and perhaps four statewide officials have put themselves into a position of getting a challenger because the money they raise, they live off of during the year and use it for "other" things. Fitch already has drawn an opponent who is going to spend a million dollars paying her back for the way he was treated when he worked for her and raised her 80k. Pickering and Hood also have busted their campaign coffers and may draw credible candidates.
