Aaron McNair entered a petition to plead guilty to the charge of Robbery (as a lesser offense of capital murder). McNair, Derrick Johnson, and Kameron Woodard killed James McKinney at the Shell Station at 855 Fortification Street on July 25, 2011. The store clerk was shot and wounded as well. Mr. McKinney was a security guard at the gas station. McNair entered the petition on January 12, 2015. He was indicted in September 2011. The petition states he will get a sentence of 15 years in prison with 5 years suspended under the terms of the plea bargain. He will get credit for time served in jail. He is currently a resident of MDOC. He was represented by attorney Aafram Sellers.
James McKinney was 55 years old and died defending the store clerk. JJ said back then:
James McKinney was a hero. Period. He died protecting a store clerk. He probably wasn't getting paid much. He probably didn't have much. However, its not what you have that counts but what you are that does. When these three thugs showed up at the Shell station that night to rob and possibly kill that clerk, James McKinney stood his ground defending young Suvin. James McKinney didn't get any rallies. He didn't get feature stories written about him. The Southern Poverty Law Center probably does not know he existed. The media treated him as just another statistic. Another black guy killed a black guy, unfortunately for the victim, the killers' race was the wrong color for them to pay notice. Six months later, there are no headlines, just silence. Say a prayer for the family of James McKinney.
Kingfish note: The murder victim was a black male.

These violent young men don't deserve a chance at ever seeing daylight again. These were the ones who used the uzi-machine gun. I wouldn't want them out in my community ever !!!
Well said KF!
In Hinds County it takes FOUR YEARS to move a case through the system? That is why the jail is overcrowded. Once they are convicted they are moved to a state prison.
