Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Baily made an appearance for Bust Week on JJ as he issued the following press release:
Rankin County Drug Interdiction Task Force Deputy Seizes 80 lbs of Marijuana on I-20
On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at approximately 8:45 p.m.,
A Rankin County Drug Interdiction Task Force Deputy made a traffic stop
on a gray Chrysler passenger car for a traffic violation
on Interstate 20 eastbound near mile marker 60. During the traffic stop
the deputy suspected the vehicle was carrying drugs/contraband. A
consensual search of the vehicle revealed approximately 80 pounds of
marijuana hidden in the vehicle. The driver, identified
as Christian DIAZ-GALVAN and passenger Angel Candelario ZAMORANO were
arrested and transported to the Rankin County Jail and charged with
Trafficking of Marijuana. District Attorney Michael Guest will bring the
pair before Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel
for an initial appearance. The wholesale value of the marijuana is
estimated to be eighty to one hundred thousand dollars. No Bond has been
set at this time.

Hinds and Rankin are kicking butt on drugs. Good job guys
Consensual search. Why in the world would anyone allow a consensual search of their own vehicle? What a bunch of idiots.
Yipee.
We get to spend MS tax dollars housing these losers for decades for trafficking mexi-dirt weed when we could have been taking IN tax dollars on job producing agriculture in a state blessed with (wait for it...) climate/soil for a superior product.
Mississippi thinkin' at its best.
(Not blaming the cops-they do as directed, but our legislators are dumbasses.)
Yes congratulations on wasting tax money, ruining lives and getting harmlessly folige of the street.
Great job blahhhhhhhh This is a harmless plant that is sold over the counter in some states.I feel much safer now.
KF readers are (finally) ready for legalization?
Drug Interdiction Task Force = Nazi police state tactics hoping to find cash to seize.Consensual search The shakedown continues.
I've always been puzzled how all these Hispanic people just happen to make a traffic violation in Rankin County. I'm sure they have dash cam video of it though.
I'm with 1:23. How do they just happed to pull over so many Mexicans after dark-thirty on an interstate highway? And of course they're always 'weaving in traffic' which makes the stop legal.
3 51.. I'm sure you remember when the Bubbas pulled over the Hispanic FBI agent and used used all manner of racist slurs against him in Rankin Co? Oops.
Forget the cops. They're to do as told.
Your pandering, science illiterate legislators & (appellate) judges are the problem.
You are either a free man - a man who controls his own brain chemistry & thoughts-or you are psychiatric ward of the state & its limited, approved nuerochemical reactions.
these stops are occasionally based on informant information on a specific vehicle. others are the result of profiling.
an experience officer can "convince" many folks to "consent" to a search...
they can always call for a drug dog which will nearly always alert...
dirty business on both sides.
Drug dog or not, one should NEVER consent to a search or comply with a request for a roadside sobriety test. NEVER. EVER.
Profiling saves lives.
Legal in D.C. now. You go to jail but your elected rep can burn a fat one after work. Kafka couldn't make that shit up.
Hey I know my rights. Hey dumbass that's why we have k9's so when you refuse, our partners can smell it and get us consent.
Thanks, 9:23. That's exactly why legislators who are into locking people in cages for committing thought crimes should be voted out of office.
