The Justice Department issued the following statement.
A Jackson man pled guilty to armed carjacking, announced U.S. Attorney Darren LaMarca and Special Agent in Charge Kurt Thielhorn of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
According to court documents, Anthony Lee Holder, 21, carjacked a victim at gunpoint in Jackson on February 7, 2021. A federal grand jury indicted Holder for armed carjacking on April 14, 2021.
Holder will be sentenced on December 6, 2022. He faces a maximum penalty of fifteen years in prison and a $250,000 fine. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
This case was investigated by the ATF and the Jackson Police Department.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jessica S. Terrill.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

I heard on the radio today that the city of Jackson didn’t have a jail. Is that right?
That's right, 2:05. What rock have you been under for the past seven years?
Jail? πππ Did he just ask…sorry he heard the COJ didn’t have a jail. They don’t have water but they do have a jail. They really do. It’s used for booking and releasing. They have to call the county or make arrangements on which inmate they’ll take. Other counties have been forcing the COJ to come get their inmates because they’re tearing up their jails. Of I’m correct the City of Clinton is the only agency with a jail in Hinds Co. Check for yourself but I almost 100% that’s accurate.
No 738, you are not even close to right. In fact, you are wrong on every point.
Jackson is f**ked up, but one does not need to make stuff up to make the story.
The county has a jail. It has screwed up the management of its jail and the feds are taking it over. Jackson has carried its arrestees there, but because of the problems with the county jail the city cannot keep anything but major criminals there.
The county has a closed jail downtown that they are turning over to the city next month.
Clinton does not have a jail.

Then they don't have a jail!? Using the county facilities means the city of Jackson does not have its own jail. SMH
1:50 a.m. - The point being made, which you seem to not appreciate, is that the largest city in the state does not have a facility that functions as a jail. But, in reality...Thank God it does not have. If it did, imagine how fucked up it's operation would be.
Do your research before correcting someone. And yeah Clinton does have a temporary jail.
