You simply can't make this up. Jackson dumps over 50 million gallons of raw sewage into streams and street. One would think cleaning up such a mess would take priority, right? Well, WLBT reports a different story:
Jackson recently lost two of its sewer vacuum trucks for lack of payment.
This week, the owner of the vehicles informed the city that it was picking them up after the city failed to pay invoices for three or four months.
The owner declined to comment to WLBT and asked that his company not be named. It was unclear how much the city owed.
Ward 5 Councilman Vernon Hartley said the city’s failure to pay the bills was a problem....
The trucks were equipped with vacuum and “jetting” devices, which are used to unclog backed-up sewer lines....
Under the decree, the city must do routine cleanings of its sewer mains to ensure pipes” can carry full pipe flow without any restrictions that might result in blockages due to reduced pipe capacity.”
Public Works also must be “adequately equipped to keep up with critical maintenance requirements.”
It was unknown how many vacuum trucks the city still has in operation. Article

Perhaps the city leadership needs to find a sewer vac dealer that provides payments by the week.
the destruction of jackson is intentional. you couldn't destroy a city this well unintentionally.
About five years ago, the city only had two in its possession. Hope that's not the case still.
The invoice problem could be simply due to poor office management, not the intentional avoiding of payment.
Just the perception of not receiving payment.
Rome continues to burn.
This is intentional. The boy mayor can't wait for the feds, state or some other entity to step in and clean up the mess as well as pay for it.
The Mayor should just order an emergency contract with Richard's Sewer Vacuum Truck Service. Boom. Problem solved.
Bankruptcy. Hopefully before he's out of office. Knowing Jackson politicians, should Jokeway not seek re-election then that should be a clear sign that the city is about to go bankrupt.
Due to his great leadership, Emperor Antar now has the opportunity to upgrade the DPW trucks! You MAGA fools didn't even see that coming! Ha Ha!
Two of the better models available are the LuMumbaLLC Malcolm X Memorial Suction 2016 model and the Stokes Go Gettah Sewer Jettah X. Both are Democrat approved models that both blow and suck at each end, appropriate for this administration, delivering the ability to transport a golf ball through a high quality garden hose or to clear a 20000 pound fatberg from Jackson pipes with ease. Only Antar and Omari had the vision to foresee this great opportunity and planned accordingly.
And, yes, good credit bad credit or no credit, Ima thankin that a New Orleans vendor is about the deliver a nice shiny LuMumblah 2022 model any minute.
They should have hidden them from the RePo man over at those convenient Hawkins hangars.

No, they need a sewer vac dealer that bills like the city water department. You probably won’t get a bill, but if you do, you don’t have to pay it.
this may not get paid , or that may not get paid, but make no mistake about it ................the salaries all those incompetent city of jackson employees will always get paid
and that goes for the mayor and the city council as well
I believe that a large part of the problem at the water plant is due to vendors not being paid.
Will they take a post-dated check?
This really sucks for JXN residents-
What ever happened to that man who got caught doing what the city of Jackson does, dumping raw sewage into the Pearl river?
Maybe the city council can resolve this issue when they return from their latest out of country convention.
Free the Land!
9:02- This contract was weekly at $2,500.00 per truck per week.
Detail them, mark them up, put them back on the lot, get a down payment from the city for the previous balance, and finance the rest to the city on weekly payments. 99@$584.99
People tell the truth, would you sell something to the city of Jackson and be willing to accept payments for the merchandise?
I wonder if the money spent on lawyers, and court filings, due to the Mayah, and the city council taking each other to court over the garbage contract, would have paid the payments?
I bet Richard's can supply those! Chok gonna work out sweet deal for his citizens where the citizens pay for the Richard's trucks at a buy 2, get 1 rate.
9:02, maybe Richard's will do that for Jackson.
Does Aaron's, Bestway, or Rent-A-Center rent Vac-Trucks? Asking for His-Ineptness. Over/Under about Chokwe presser stating how the recently released article about the late payments is incorrect and an error and not the city's fault(lots of "umms" and hand waving included).
The City CFO dude claims they could save a whole lotta money by purchasing the pumps instead of renting them. I imagine the outfit that rents them also maintains them. Owning would mean the City has to maintain them. Look at how that has worked with everything else, right.
Privatize the entire CoJ.
No, someone that will bill by the year after we have used them for that year!
This is what happens when a City has no leadership. It will only get worse.
@9:02
I just checked with JD Byrider, Aaron’s, Colortyme, and Rent-A-Center. None of them offer this equipment. I would like to go into business doing the weekly rentals for critical equipment Lumumba. I just need to find a set aside to be my partner.
CJ, Donna, Jerry, the whole lot are complicit monsters who insanely think they are the heroes.
Why do you refuse to stand up to Chuckie and demand better for the impoverished minorities in Jackson?
They should all be ashamed to call themselves journalists.
Prince Chowke needs that money for his first class airline flights and 5* hotels in Atlanta, Banff, NYC, NJ, right?
Will Prince Chowke blame this repo on "open carry," gun shows, white flight, Trump, gentrification, or is this part of his kush plan?
Got to be some serious depreciation on a used poo poo truck.
So dysfunctional that they can't execute on basics like getting the bills paid on time.
What a clusterfuck of a clown show. Is there any one anywhere who still supports Lumumba? There needs to be so much more public outrage. Until then, I’ll continue expressing mine through phone calls and emails. I have a nice long list.
Still I’m curious. When you call for one of those trucks, more often than not they tell you there’s only one truck in the entire city.
maybe chokwe needs to veto the repo!
VETO THE REPO!
Maybe one of these days KF will publish a Jackson city government success story. It could happen.
So who is running the city? When does the council make the rubber meet the road? A fifth grader runs a city better than this. This is simply choosing not to do the job! Does the state have a “ recall “ process?
Sorry. The money went to buy water and rent port-o-johns.
Does failure to provide a working sewerage system, water system, 911 emergency system, drivable roads, policing, legal garbage contract, and a zoo that meets any standard for zoos come with awards from Harvard? If so, the Mayor will be setting records for awards.
Sewer stopped up ? No problem just poop in the back yard. Unfortunately I'm afraid that's where this is headed.
11:01, feel free to email him one single example and he probably would.
So without these trucks will there be less 'suck' in Jackson? (asking for a friend!)
Here's a hypothetical. If the citizens of Jackson were presented with a candidate for mayor who could guarantee the water situation would be fixed and the roads would be repaired, but he would be a white man, would they elect the man with the guarantee or Chokwe?
I think I know the answer.
NYC found polio in their "waste water". Lil Choke needs to get up to speed in his slavish hustle to trade Jackson degradation and belly crawling subservience for federal funds to pump up his political slush funds.
Lumumba is looking for a billion-dollar infrastructure grant so the current wave can "wet their beaks." It will be the Harvey Johnson Siemens fiasco x 10.
I agree the mismanagement can only be intentional at this point.

KF featured Campbell Bakery sale to a celebrated Italian chef and his wife. Much success is anticipated.

Couldn't find on WLBT anymore...
P.S. I read the CoJ's CFO is quite a golfer.
The City of Jackson needs to find a dealer that offers “no credit check” financing.
Hopefully the boy mayor will be found personally responsible for the Richard's garbage bill, and maybe that will end this clown show.

The key phrase was government success. Not just success.
Good news for the repo man?
The city never used the sucker trucks so there's no hazmat clean up charge?
Who would guess?
Word on the street is Antar does not plan to run for reelection and he is not concerned
about any of Jackson's issues.
I have no idea if that is true.
But watching his pressers over the last few weeks, such would seem to validate this speculation.
Either way, he's still "da Mair" for a few more more years.
BTW, how has that secluded "Belhaven Beach" on the Pearl River been smelling lately ?
The sewer pump trucks got repossessed. Seriously, is anyone surprised? I mean, look at who runs / "operates" Jackson.
Richard's can do it. They certainly suck.
Wait a sewer-sucking minute. The guy who was recently hired to prevent this sort of thing...well, let his own bio explain:
"Fidelis Malembeka, Jr., now serves at the City’s first Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Administration recently deemed the establishment of CFO as a needed leadership role to move the City of Jackson forward in its goal to be more proficient in operations. The Administration is excited to have him in this capacity and is optimistic about the accomplishments to come.
Fidelis is a native of Zambia and hails from Tanzania, a country he represented in international golfing events. He is a proud graduate of Jackson State University where he majored in business and was a co-captain of the victorious Golf Team throughout his matriculation."
Among his accomplishments, he "was also instrumental in the process of downsizing the organization and leading the company in the strategic exit of the McDonald’s franchise system."
If you wanted more-proficient financial operation of a city in serious trouble, a Zambio-Tanzanian golfer whose sole experience is destroying McDonald's franchises would be at the top of any recruiter's list. It sounds like the plot to a 1980s Blacksloitation comedy starring some D-list Eddie Murphy knockoff.
KF, Right On! Cannot Make this Up! Cannot drink the water and cannot process human waste. This is like the European dark ages only with a massive population cramped together. How can education be improved if we cannot even use a water fountain or bathroom? How can streets be improved if sewage is floating on the surface? Do we give up, move the Capitol, ask Sherman to return and torch the place? So sad.
Resumes don't lie.
How much management experience is there among the last three Mayors and the top members of their teams BEFORE they assumed office?
These are people who literally have no experience running anything.
The CFO, an African, not an African-American, is Chowke's cornerstone for "freeing the land." His experience hitting a golf ball around was the tie breaker.
