Clarion-Ledger "Reports" on The War of the Fitches

Well, well, well.  The Clarion-Ledger's "investigative reporter" Lee Sanderlin reported on Attorney General Lynn Fitch's efforts to keep her step-mother away from her father.  Mr. Sanderlin "reported" today:

Buried within a messy, back-and-forth legal battle over her father’s money and guardianship, a number of court filings claim Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch is using her official position to intimidate her stepmother.

In a Marshall County court filing, Aleita Fitch, Lynn Fitch’s stepmother, claims the attorney general has sent “bodyguards” to her home to seize her husband’s business records and some of his guns and will show up unannounced at the home, the family farm and the hospital with the guards.

"It’s very intimidating for an elderly lady of 80 years old to be confronted by (the attorney general) with these bodyguards, especially when she’s involved with legal issues with my client," Ryan Hill, Aleita Fitch's attorney, told the Clarion Ledger.

Those guards are presumed to either be members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol or other employees of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, according to Hill.

Aleita Fitch also claims her stepdaughter is using an Adult Protective Services investigation into Aleita Fitch's treatment of William Fitch as an intimidation tactic. In court filings, Lynn Fitch has claimed her stepmother is verbally and mentally abusive toward William Fitch and failed to tell the attorney general about a stroke and heart attack he had at the start of 2021.... Rest of article.

Can't imagine where the reporter paid $13,000 more than the rest of his fellow reporters got the idea for the story. Can't imagine at all.  Earlier post with copy of court file.

Notice Mr. Sanderlin didn't post any court documents.  That wouldn't be because JJ watermarked the court documents posted Friday, now would it? Just thinking out loud. ;-).

She is a Haley Barbor crony. She basically does whatever she wants. While at MDES she gave her husband a very lucritive contract to check the security of the agency. Not sure what he did except walk around a lot. Anyway she is part of the ruling class, but she is dumb as a brick.

The Barksdalers would have drooled their bibs sopping wet in anticipation if they were breaking the Fitch Feud story. Instead they got their undies wadded up about some nobody from Ohio acting stupid on the coast.

More good ol' shoe leather enterprise reporting from Kingfish.

Forgive them KF as thievery is all they know.

"“We consider this a private matter between two private parties..."

We also don't wanted to be asked about the unlawful use of state law enforcement personnel in this private matter

Anonymous said...

Hopefully wlbt, WAPT, Fox and the national news stations pick it up also. It deserves to be shown to a wider audience.

Anonymous said...

Raise of hands of anyone who reads that garbage newspaper or visits their website?

Anonymous said...

Good job Kingfish. You’re better at using MEC than the other reporters.

Anonymous said...

First. And be nice to each other for God's sake......for all of our sakes.

Anonymous said...

Lee got this scoop on his own. Kidding. ahahahahahahahha

If these "reporters" at other news media around here saw what Kingfish did to get info they would be so overwhelmed they would pee their pants.

Anonymous said...

Of course he copied your work product. And Lynn may have a libel and slander claim against him.

Kingfish: Mr. Sanderlin and the CL reflect the Oscar Wilde quote: "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness."

Anonymous said...

During the last years before he retired Jimmie Gates basically used Jackson Jambalaya exclusively for story ideas. Kingfish was his de facto assignment editor.

Sorry, 4:03, but defamation claims don't survive when filed (by a green lawyer) against public officials (elected or appointed), movie stars, inanimate objects or pets. She'll hafta stick with suing The Chinese Gov't for creating Wuhan.

Anonymous said...

Would my post have been approved had I not pointed Kingfish's panties being in a wad and making this story about who broke what and when?

Anonymous said...

JJ broke the Jackson water EPA story and the Jackson Free Press refused best practices when reporting on the story giving no credit to JJ. Donna Ladd is a total fraud.

It is perfectly not unlawful to hire an employee of the State, to be a bodyguard. Shut Up. It is also extremely dumb of Fitch to be so jelly of the lady her dad wanted to marry. Jealousy causes all kinds of emotional decisions. Fitch will be arguing with herself until the day

Well, only St. Peter will let her know how she behaved.

KF-He has to kiss ass so he can one day grow up and be the INTERIM Director of the MS Development Authority! Yep….I said it.

Anonymous said...

I’m willing to bet they were in a state vehicle too!

Anonymous said...

One Fitch two Fitch red Fitch blue Fitch. Oh how I wish the other Fitches will join the fray

627.. you assume they are hired outside their regular employment… little hint, they are not it is their assignment

Suck it up, you guys steal from each other every day.

Also culpable are (all the way to the top of the organization) those in supervisory positions above the MHP guys assigned to her detail. And why in hell is she assigned anybody, anyway? I thought only the governor and Leftenant governor had these guys at their beck and call.

And if she (and her attorney) considers herself hiring these men 'off the clock', that's beyond questionable and no doubt illegal. If they are in uniform, in company issued vehicles, using state radio and other resources and identifying themselves as official LEO when busting down doors, this whole charade is a farce. Or do you really assume they do NOT produce MHP badge and ID when acting on her behalf?

What happened to Justin Viceroy? He announced he's leaving the CL. He was pretty good at busting the local government chops.

He was pretty good at busting the local government chops.

Provide a link where he busted chops.

What's the approval procedure for MHP personnel wanting to work a side job? Does anything go?

Kingfish said...

She requested the bodyguards while Phil was in office. Phil approved them although Hood and Moore used their own investigators for such purproses.

No reason for her to get MHP troopers when she has her own investigators who are qualified with firearms.

Then there is the matter fo the recent Pike County (not frat) Republican Party Meeting.....

Anonymous said...

Can we get a list of elected officials in this state who do have state paid body guards? Any chance hers are female?

Anonymous said...

As a retired special agent-supervisor from another AG's office, I can tell you that this is so very wrong, probably illegal, and shows her lack of respect for the laws that she is sworn to enforce.

She needs to resign, now!

did wlbt and coleman j do the same?
hard to tell but looks like some pretty creative editing /screenshots of court documents to avoid watermark

Yup, CJ gave no credit. We notice CJ. You're full of big talk.

They are ALL journo-grifters:

AP via WJTV: The [Fitch] story was first reported by The Clarion Ledger.

To answer 9:16, I regularly see the Speaker and Lt. Governor with one each. I am guessing that if the Secretary of State doesn’t have one currently, that he will very soon determine a way to get one (he’s a very, very important person).
I have never seen one with the Auditor or Treasurer.
I see 3-4 always with the Governor traveling in two large black vehicles.

"She requested the bodyguards while Phil was in office. Phil approved..."

Hmmm. So, you're saying a governor has that authority?

Would she have MHP body-guards if she were a boy?

Inquiring said...

Who the hell are 'The Barksdalers'?

Scam police said...

The "bodyguard" thing is a work-around to have their own personal driver/valet/step-and-fetch, and to feel important.

Anonymous said...

I am no Hood or MHP fan but I worked in the same building as Hood and he every time I saw he he didn’t have any security which I always thought was odd. The AG would seem to need security way more than the speaker or lt govenor

Anonymous said...

Again...Are the people assigned to her female?

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing the detail was selected by the tallest biggest strongest criteria. -just some random on the internet

Anonymous said...

Barksdalers vs Boss Hoggers is the Mississippi version of Hatfields vs McCoys!

Course it's more complicated in Mississippi as the McDanielites need accounted for in the mix.

The MAIN purpose of having taxpayer MHP “security” - driving 100mph between fundraising events and ballgames-fancy meals-golf-beach trips - all paid for by lobbyists making $400,000 a year.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
