"Never let a crisis that I created go to waste." (Boy Mayor Chowke Lumbumbles Sept. 2021)
Wait...you mean this is actually happening?
So a company with no employees, no trucks, and no landfills, is going to start picking up garbage in a city of 170,000 people.....starting on Friday?
What could possibly go wrong?
When this goes bad, Anna Wolfe of Mississippi Today will write the article about racism. This is the same crap that goes on with the water/sewer management. This is terrible. It's about racial cronyism rather than doing your job, managing a city, hiring qualified contractors. This crap doesn't happen in the cities around Jackson. That is why the other places have running water.
Good Lord These People Are So Transparently Dishonest….
mayor-for-life is over his skis.
better get that house sold before friday...
how long before the Republican State Government intervenes in the affairs of the state capital? Does Mr Reeves have the fortitude to do it?
I don't think KF is cognizant of mobilization fees.
If this is allowed to happen then this will be a blueprint for every podunk town to create fraud
LOL
This unsigned contract is dated 9/17, and the company claims to be "in good standing" as of that date, but the SOS website shows them as being formed on 9/20.
I see a shit load of Sanford and Son pickups driving down dead end streets drop shit on the roadway looking for an illegal dump site.
The company filed with the Secretary of State of 9/20. Dwayne Pickett is the lone member. This is the same Dwayne Pickett who is the Pastor of New Jerusalem Church, who just happened to receive a grant to run LabLinq locally, which does Covid testing. He is a good friend of Lumumba and continues to receive blessings.
Not legal to have a contract with a non-entity on the date of signing (9/17).
If Socrates Garrett's neophyte company has a $250 million line of credit, why does it need a $750,000 start-up fee from the city?
The State will never take over Jackson. This thinking is why Medical and Recreational Marijuana is a bad idea.
If you have the means to leave Jackson, and stayed anyway, you chose this. Good luck.

>how long before the Republican State Government intervenes in the affairs of the state capital?
Don't hold your breath. It's going to have to get a lot worse before it gets better.
My comments are being censored.
The business filing on 9/12/21 for "National Waste Systems, LLC" is for the Socrates Soprano crew, of which Dwayne Pickett is a member. Then there's another business filing on 9/20/21 for "National Waste United, LLC", of which Dwayne Pickett is the sole member. Just an observation.
Y’all need to stop cheering for Shad White so much. Notice how your great white hope won’t touch the Lumumba administration. Same with the kingmakers of the MSGOP.
This is the finish line, Jackson.
Welcome to the Hinds Hunger Games.
My city of Madison property just increased in value again.
I don't expect Kingfish to post this comment because even I know it's inappropriate ... but I have excreted better garbage collection contracts than this.
@1:45p- I think it has more to do with the optics of racist Lumumba running to the national media and crying racism, despite his ass being shady and crooked.
What am I missing??? The Soc contract says the garbage will be hauled to and disposed of at the City's designated disposal site. Under the definitions, "Disposal Site (landfill) shall mean the Waste Management of Mississippi, Inc. MDEQ-permitted transfer station within the City".
Who the heck is hauling the trash to Arkansas or Alabama or wherever WM has been taking it? Who pays for that?
I don't really fault Shad for not going after the corruption in Hinds county.
The majority voted. This is the desired administration.
If the citizens of Jackson aren't fighting tooth and nail against this, then they deserve everything that will follow.
Most black communities will choose the most crooked black politician, businessman, or preacher over ANY established white or Latino person based solely on skin color alone. (The basic definition of racism.)
The black communities cannot see the holes their "leaders" are taking them down. It's sad and unnecessary, but it seems more and more everyday that they will have to absolutely implode (and Jackson isn't far off from this) before they wake up and see the truth.
In the meantime, those of us with Waste Management in the neighboring cities and counties can sit back and enjoy the shit show (I mean boo boo show) that is guaranteed to follow!
Choke Boy just pissed away $750,000.00 of our money. The garbage will pile up and the contract will be terminated for cause, but only after the good pastor cashes the check! I damn sure hope to see some garbage piling up at Choke Boy's gate soon!
NE Jackistan property values crashing in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
Jackson's "can man" may need to find him a couple guys.....fixing to get real.
There will be no garbage piling up at Choke Boy's gate, because he will have his palace guard there to prevent said poetic justice.
Attn 2:41 He did not piss off $750,000.00 of my money, I moved north several years ago. I suggest you consider the same.
How old is the "city of Jackson's" solid waste plan? Is it "of record"?
KF - Council went with Waste Management contract. Correct? Post makes it sound like council approved this and chockwe wrote socrates a $750k check.
@2:28 Waste Management has a dump in Scott County right off I-20 between Lake and Newton. The majority of 18 wheelers hauling to the dump are CEI. I would assume that the City of Jackson trash goes to that dump since it is only an hour away.
This has all the feeling of the cable tv bribery/extortion scandal of the mid 90's.
Correct me if I am wrong. The 57000 customers are paying this guy $750,000.00 to start a new company that charges much higher monthly fees than the existing “experienced” vendor. Do they teach math in Jackson schools? What about logics, and being responsible stewards of the city’s money?
Those in neighboring cities with WM services better get ready for a price increase. WM will have to recover lost revenue somehow, or they will leave the area altogether.
2:38 - YES!
As someone who works in an oversight capacity for an industry.
I cannot tell you how many times I see a POC getting less service from another POC.
But they will defend their representative (over my unbiased advice that only seeks to help them) because I look different.
The misplaced loyalty would be impressive if it was not at their own extreme expense and detriment.
Just this week I talked to two Pro Jackson people who used to do the Ra ra that Jackson would come back . Bright days ahead. They were really down. People are about to give up on Jackson. You can only push them so far.
Maybe I don’t understand but he gets a 750,000.00 mobilization fee but only has to put up a 625,958 performance bond? So if he gets the 750 never does anything and insurance company has to pay the bond does old Soc basically get around 100,000 plus 15 from every resident? If so he will never do one thing to honor contract. You cannot do all he would have to do in a year must less 6 months to start this big of a business.
Attn 3:42. All waste management has to do is sub contract with this so called start up company and reach an agreement on dividing the profits from the higher rates the mayor is cramming down the illiterate majority throats.
Calm down, the city council today voted in their own emergency and gave the contract to WM. Last I heard is baby chowke is hiding from the mob.
@3:30. Contract doesn't say anything about Scott County, it says "transfer station within the City". A WM executive told me a couple of years ago that Jackson's trash is hauled to somewhere near Little Rock Arkansas!
@4:18 PM - Baby Chowke goes willingly to Arkansas?
"So a company with no employees, no trucks, and no landfills, is going to start picking up garbage in a city of 170,000 people.....starting on Friday?"
This is the way.
This is the Chok-way.
Driving trucks to peoples houses and businesses. Picking up their trash and hauling it off to somewhere and dumping it. Next time do the same thing all over again.
It ain't rocket science, how hard could it be?
This could be the first step to making Jaxton great again!
Methinks that ol' Soc either needs the $750,000 advance to qualify for that line of credit, or there is no LOC and he needs it to LEASE some beater worn-out garbage trucks.
Y'all got pwnd by KF. This "contract" was never entered into by anyone.
4:07 PM
That was only for emergency contract with WM for month of October. Still leaves long term contract in limbo.
@6:02 PM "pwnd" ... seriously. How juvenile.
This is starting to feel like an episode of ‘Sons of Anarchy’. Won’t be long before someone gets offed.
That bind would get called quicker than a press conference for one of Chokwe’s executive orders. I have my suspicions, but curious who is insuring this outfit? Same agent that plays the race card when it helps, plays the Madison socialite when it swings the other direction?
@4:18 pm only the recycling was hauled to Little Rock due to no local facilities to handle and process. Recycling discontinued due to cost. Garbage goes to Lake landfill.
Recycling discontinued due to cost.
Recycling was discontinued because Jackson wasn't collecting customer garbage receivables and Lumumba was desperate to take costs out of the operation. The discontinuance of recycling was 100% on Lumumba.
“They might be crooks, but they’re our crooks “
1:45 - stop cheering for your anti whoever; Shad or State Government.
There is nothing yet that has happened that would legally bring in the State Auditor. There have been no dollars 'misspent' yet (because there have been no dollars spent). The Auditor's job is to look into how the government entity 'spent' tax dollars.
Please, in your infinint wisdom tell me under what basis you believe the State Auditor could take action at this point. Yes, what the Mayor is TRYING to do might be totally illegal, but as of now, he has not done anything. The contract listed here, which has not as best I can tell been authorized and approved by the Council, has not started. I won't start until October 1, which by my count is still four days away. Maybe your calendar has a different set of days on it; if so, you are welcome to come back and defend your bullshit.
And - as to the state governement (which you define as a republican government) - all of the above applies the same.
As of now, the garbage in Jackson is being collected and hauled away, under a contract issued damn near 10 years ago. There is nothing relative to garbage collection that has happened that would allow the state government to move on Jackson's terrirory.
NOW, once October 1 comes and goes, depending on what the status is at that time, there might be a different discussion. If the city council succeeds in their legal filing today, then there still will be no basis for either White, or "the state" to be concerned.
Granted, you are probably one of those that hates Tater with a passion enough to try to throw stones his way every chance you get. Kinda like Mississippi Today's 'news staff'. But as of today, the rope you are trying to piss up is pretty limp. Maybe that's why it is so familiar to you.
12:54 - Pickett evidently has a company called "Kingdom Transportation and Trucking" as well. Sounds like it might be something that could lead to hauling garbage. Right?
But no, Kingdom Transportation and Trucking (which was formed less than two years ago) has seven drivers and four trucks and is in the business of "hauling cars". So, really, what you have here is another bullshit minority business 'business" that probably got in on a gravy train with Nissan so they could keep in good standing with the Jessie Jackson wannabees of Mississippi and is now in the 'hauling business' so he can join up with Soc and get in on another pass-through of dollars. First, that of private business (Nissan) who has a public personna, and now directly in Soc's lane of getting in on that real gravy - the government tit.
Yes, Soc pulled out several millions when they soaked Jackson with Seimens' contract. Chockwe didn't like that deal (guess cause it was done before his time) but now that he saw how lucrative it could be - Soc's his guy!!
And why not Pickett? He has a large church group, which mean a large group of voters to be led to the slaughter - scratch that - polls, come election time. So let's pass some of this newfound 'mergency money that way too while we are at it.
Can someone spell bogus for us all here? We need help. A company formed this week is going to handle a ten million a year contract that will require three dozen garbage trucks that today they don't own. Forget the other logistics - manpower, accounting, systems control, contracts with landfills; they don't own (and in today's logistics nightmare, can't get for months) garbage trucks. What are they planning to do, rent wagons and pull them with tractors through the streets as was done 100 plus years ago?
Time for this Mayor to pack his bags and head to the house - the state should take over all essential functions so that the capitol city can continue to be habitable.
Tater, Feel and Dilbert gave Choke $3 million this past session.
Choke turns around and gives Socrates his cut.
How much will Tater, Feel and Dilbert give Choke next session beginning in January?
@9:11pm - My grandfather owned the landfill in Gautier until the early 2000’s. I can’t speak for Jackson specifically, but unfortunately recycling did become too costly to make a profit.
I believe as previously stated in this thread that the philosopher is getting the minority fee (kick back to chok) and will then sub contract back to waste management . Simple answer - money laundering.
